Okie, as I do not know where I will be in the next few hours (stuff in the house done exploded, making a run down house built in 1910 with only one working toilet seem mighty comfy in comparison) I'm going to get a post up for Vulf to respond to. Spoiler tags will be employed as it's a conversation between two characters, but ya'll are welcome to meta, if you like. I mean, there is no way I can police ya.

Awh, I thought it was gonna be like the opening scene of Willow, some dottering old fool using cantrips to astound and amaze the non-casters. Man, that's what I get for going with the martial dudes, huh?
Bum-mer.
I was really expecting something lame after the "dragon" races.

My vision of the afternoon was they would go buy some supplies for making supper, as she has already invited the group to come and eat with them, and then help Iolana break down her booth and move it back to their little house. She'd probably offer him to sleep in her bedroom for the night if he doesn't have a bedroll, and she'd share with her Mama for comfort and security. Basically try to make him feel welcome and illustrate that their home lacked judgment, and so on.

To clear up, my combat rules are as follows.
All combatants will have 24 hours to post a combat action, should all characters or all characters excepting one post in a shorter time, I will try to post for the enemies so as to advance combat. All reactive rolls (Saves, Initiative, anything else I can think of) are rolled by me, so as to speed up the time. Initiative only matters in the first round, and I only care about which characters go before the enemy, after which all characters will be free to go in whatever order they choose/post in. I like flavorful descriptions of combat and have no problem with you looking at a creatures stats to know whether you hit it/did damage/activated a defensive mechanism so as to flavor your post accordingly, however, please keep that knowledge seperate from your character. Anything else we need clarified?

Zelaria Quiatris |

Okay, so... to use this "round" as an example, Markellus gets to go first, because he is before the gobbos, and then after Markellus goes, the gobbos go, it is then up to whoever posts first to basically dictate the combat?
If I have this right, then after the Gobbos react to whatever Markellus does, I can have Zelaria cast Hypnotism on the Gobbos and give the fighters the competitive edge to go and slaughter these suckers?

Det er min dag idag!
Thanks, you just made my day. I mean, it's pretty obvious my little spell caster is gonna be absolute poo in combat, but if I don't have to worry about everybody and their mother absolutely scrambling every cluster of bad dudes you send at us, this can be quite effective.
*dons my proto-wizard top hat and monocle*

Really? I didn't get the impression of crap in combat... certainly not optimal, but not total crap. Besides, when I see all the go-to boring spells in a profile I tend to recoil a bit. Like reading that someone's using a scimitar or falchion. Or any of the other super cheese/super optimized abilities/class combos/weapons/spells/whatever... I tend to like flavor over uber-optimization.

Zelaria Quiatris |

Well, she certainly isn't a damage dealer. I have studied at the feat of optimizing spell casters, and my favorite class to play is cleric, so I am familiar with them. This is not my first foray into save or suck territory, but it has been my experience thus far that the guy's delivering the DPR are the ones that get remembered as heroes.

Ive always seen it as there's two types of players: WOW players and roleplayers.
WOW players look through every possible class/race/traits/feat and then minmax the s$@& out of the character. They decrease everything they dont need and maximize one thing so they can be ungodly usually in combat. They cant make up a story they make character and hes good at archery "I kill everything with archery."
Role players take sacrifices with their stats and look into a character and how he interacts in a world they we cant know about. its how books are written you dont see this amazing character you see a person that you can like and be interested in knowing about and their adventures and challenges are what its supposed to be an adventure and a challenge. Not bang their dead next badguy.
So there's my two bits lol sorry if i insulted anyone :)

Haha. My RL kingmaker party, our 12th level fighter wrecked a 12 headed hydra in a single round. GM pulled a critical fumble for the poor beast and it knocked itself cold on the fighter's shield, who then proceeded to hack each and every one of its heads off, then had the wizard shrink them and attach them to a belt.
This is the same campaign where the paladin cohort brought down a Roc with a single arrow, scoring a critical that did mental stat damage, so we picked intelligence and it forgot how to fly and plummeted to the ground for massive damage.
Have I mentioned I loathe the critical decks?
I do miss blade barrier, though. Oh yeah... blade barrier.
@ Vulf: I build for a role. As I said previously, the Bene Gesserit sisterhood from Dune is the inspiration for my character, based on my player knowledge of how the Varisians work, and because I think the Bene Gesserit sisterhood was rather cool.
And yeah, she's green. I picked hypnotism because I thought it fit that someone who was uncomfortable with violence would try to get people to stop fighting before she would lob a fireball at them. Acid splash is her only real "offensive" spell, but that's just a "hey, get out of my face, please" spell rather than a "hey, I do a bazillion damage to you right now" spell.

Zelaria Quiatris |

Awh hell yeah! Min dag, idag
Well, may seem like a martyr, but the text of the spell says "call the attention of your enemies to you" and it was the only thing I could think of. The commoner girl would have been dead if she took a hit like that, like her poor little dog.

Sometimes I get the feeling I'm like Dana Carvey's church lady in these things.
Or maybe I'm thinking of Mike Meyer's ridiculous stereotypical jewish lady skit with the "here is a topic to discuss while I speak on the phone" thing...
Hrm... maybe I am dating myself a bit, though.
OH! Topic, do these goblins... Remind us of the babe?
