I've posted a list of the contests available, if you'd like to partake please do, if there are more explanations needed please don't hesitate.
The 'downtime' is wrapping itself up. There will be a post indicating the Dedication will occur soon, and that's when we pick up the start of the AP.
Can we get a little more description of the contest?

GM Levanthus |

Sure! So in essence, I would write a blurb about winning said contest or wherever you place. There are some prizes available for participation and placing.
As for the actual contest:
-a caber toss is like a kettlebell toss or cowbell toss. You're picking up a large bail of grass or hay and throwing it.
-Arm wrestling is just as would be expected
-Atlas Stones are picking up large stones off the ground, walking them a short distance and placing them up on a pedestal.
-Sack race would be as expected
-Square dancing is a judged.
-Whist is like hearts or euchre, it was a predecessor to them.
-Barrel drinking is just a beer drinking contest
-Pie eating is as expected.
The goal would be to beat the DC stated. You would then fall into place where that is.
The only exception would be the drinking and eating contest where it's successive checks to see how far you'd get.
Does that clarify a bit?

Rogar Ulthain |

No time to post afterall. Rogar will just tag along with Gudada. I'll be clear of the craziness tomorrow night and then I have a week off.

Rogar Ulthain |

I see what you're trying to do over there GM, but Rogar isn't the competitive type lol.
I don't mind being patient until you have time to start the dedication.

Kesni |

Sorry if there was confusion. Kesni’s narrative was directed at Rast, so she sat down and wrestled him first and then started dialogue. I imagined the strength check being a one time to see which DCs she beat but with her failing so bad I think she will stop after losing to Rast so pathetically.

GM Levanthus |

Ah, gotcha Kensi. Sorry on that. I misread the dialog and assumed it was towards a challenger.
I see what you're trying to do over there GM, but Rogar isn't the competitive type lol.
You got me! Ha ha.
Alright everyone I'm just drafting the dedication post. It will be up today, and awayyyy we go!

Rogar Ulthain |

It seems like we're just waiting for the dedication to continue? Rogar's just going to watch, which I guess I could make a post indicating, but it'd be pretty short.
Or maybe I missed something.

Gudada Purrun |

Nah, I think you got it right. I think we're seeing (or not seeing) the player react the same way the character would over getting blind-sided into being a central piece of the dedication, up there in front of everybody.

GM Levanthus |

Good question Rogar on initiative. There's a mechanic to take initiative out of the first combat in the game. So from here the map is up, combat under way.
Rast, Gudada and Kesni act first.
Then Goblins.
Then PC's.
I'll be using the group initiative as we previously discussed, so I'm excited to see how it plays out.
---
Just wanted to say I'm loving to see the life you're beginning to put into the characters, and now that the introduction is wrapping up, I'm looking forward to see how it progresses.
---
Regarding the Christmas season, I'll be posting as frequently as possible, I plan to be up and posting with my morning coffee most days, the 25th and the 28th may be a little slower but other than that should be good to go.

Rogar Ulthain |

Sounds good!
It doesn't look like we can move our tokens, just a heads up.
Edit: Cannot*

GM Levanthus |

Oh! I didn't realize it wasn't editable so you could move them. Let me fiddle with it a bit. I would love to have it editable.
Also - How would I add that border to tokens? Or do you just mean on the image per uploading?
Edit - uploaded. Everyone should be able to move their tokens. Please let me know if that worked.

Rogar Ulthain |

When you click to get the share link, you can change the page from view to edit.
I have no idea about the borders but if you give me edit privileges, I could figure it out.
Edit: Looks like you got it! Nice.
Edit2: I moved Rast up to a goblin.

Azorius Var |

I assume there are a few errant NPCs citizens of the town about, Azorious will probably refrain from using grease for a few rounds to let them flee.
Most likely he'll spend the first round casting mage armour and either repositioning or drawing his bow.

Rogar Ulthain |

My only suggestion here would have been to just do that whole dedication into the combat as one big post. We'd be on round 2 or 3 of combat by now, probably. :P

I did some further differentiation of the goblins. It gets tricky with this many mobs but there are rarely this many so that helps.
I gave on in each group a dashed line and cropped another to be round. That way there is a way to describe each creature in text. The other options is having the players add arrows but that get cumbersome. Finally I changed the ling width too 2 so the boarders are more visible.
I hope my comments are taken as an offer of help. You are doing a great job!

GM Levanthus |

I appreciate all the comments!
Mr. Rogar - I know it's been a little a little on the slow side, I didn't want to rush and pace a little organic introduction. I've pre-written the majority of Part I and II of Burnt Offerings to pick up the pace a tad. So thanks for the input.
Mr. Rast - Definitely helps! If you know the formatting of it by doing it, I got to play a little more with it. Differentiation and specificity is key when we can't be face to face. Something that I might think is assumed, may not from the other end. So thanks for that!

The biggest tool I found useful is actually the crop tool. You can make the images different shapes. I have one color blind player on another board who it really helped.

Gudada Purrun |

WOW.
For the record, I'm an IT manager in a medical facility. I do have (basically) bankers hours posted on the door, but we always have customers in the facility, so my holiday schedule looks much like my normal schedule . . ..
I can't post during the work day. Just can't.

![]() |

It's funny, I don't realize how spoiled I am that I run my company and can do what I want at work, within reason. Now if only I could hire some employees that like Pathfinder. Hmmmm

GM Levanthus |

Rast - That's the dream right there.
---
I don't think I've missed anything with the combat update. I've run through everything else. First come first serve for combat posting. Player turn!
If there's something I missed please let me know and I'd be happy to ret con for this turn.
A couple of things -houserules- if you will for combat that we haven't encountered yet, but will very shortly I'm sure. I would like to put these to a vote versus making a unilateral decision.
1 - Healing House Rule
Standard healing is minimum of one half the dice effect. (i.e. Caster Level 4 Cure Moderate Wounds would be 2d8+4 - minimum would be 12 HP of recovery)
This way you can guarantee some level of healing that is standard and not given a full RNG for healing.
2 - Health Potion House Rule
The piazo ruling on this is :
"Drinking a potion or using an oil is a standard action. (...) Using a potion or oil provokes attacks of opportunity."
I have always maintained at my tables that for drinking an HP replenishing potion only (CLW, CMW, CSW Potion, Potion of Heal only) That you are able to at the end of your turn elect as a free action to drink a potion.
I've always liked guaranteeing a level of dependency to healing and recovery in combat giving the player the ability to utilize tactics that don't rely entirely on randomization of healing.
How do you guys feel about that?

Rogar Ulthain |

Boom. Melee wizard.
I think that's really cool. It gives you some leeway when creating challenging encounters as well.

![]() |

I think those are great rules.
One note. If you drop a link to the map in one of the first three lines of your GM alias profile it makes it easy to find as the original post falls further behind.

Azorius Var |

And now the other melee wizard gets a turn to act... backs away casts a defensive spell and draws his sword. He's not a melee wizard he just can handle himself in a pinch!

![]() |

Would have been nice to roll above a 5 on the Goblin retaliation. Oh well. Time to turn the battle Heroes! Giv'em Hell!
Clearly your not at 3 health!

Rogar Ulthain |

It looks like the only goblin Kesni can reach is the one Rogar is fighting. I might 'conveniently' wait until she swings at it(providing flanking of course).
Heh. At the table, I'd just hold for her action. I'd like Rogar to go help up north before they get overwhelmed if she kills the thing.

Rogar Ulthain |

Busy busy, but should Rogar get the deflection bonus to AC now that he's near the elf?

Rogar Ulthain |

I tossed down a square for your grease spell. I believe it's in the correct place but let me know if I should move it.

Rogar Ulthain |

So it looks like Blue Dot should definitely be prone, but even with -4, he still hits Wyndel, so it doesn't look like anything changes other than making an easier target for us melee folk.
Edit: I think we need Azorius to Wizard tank for a minute. lol
