Hey Oded, I was thinking that our characters might have come into Sandpoint on the same caravan. Beren would have mostly kept to himself, but they could at least be familiar with each other. Berenwyr could have seen Oded take down a particularly nasty bandit and have been duly impressed. Just a thought.

Sure. Let me see if I can edit that last post of mine. With a dice roll in it, dont know if I can.
But atleast it gives a connection, something to work with.

Any thread you post in gets a little black dot next to it when you are out searching the boards.
To dot a thread all you need do is post in it and then you will be able to hit the focus (top right corner) and see all the threads you have posted in.
If you go to my profile you will see I just used it to link all my games. When I come on the boards I usually just open a new tab with each game. But if I didn't "dot" this thread I wouldn't know you had posted something here. It told me there were new posts waiting to be read.

@Volty: Welcome to the downside of Play-by-Post. It is much slower than chat/FtF gaming. Just keep in mind that you do get XP for roleplaying. So this scene isn't wasteful, heck in game time maybe 15 minutes have gone by.
As it happens, I don't think Lost Gamer has even said his character's name yet. You all could go "YOU SEEM TRUSTWORTHY!" and leave it at that, but it does end up being silly even for an RPG.

That came off wrong. I didnt want to seem impatient, I was just curious where the good ending point is. IC, I asked a nice leading question to give others a chance to put their chars out there.
And I know PbP is slower. Its nice, actually. Some days, like today, I work from home so I have plenty of time. I notice posts immediately since they pop up on my feed reader. Other days, I may barely be around, or might have to post from my phone.
Right, assuming the actual thing starts off the next day (although drunk fighting might be interesting) these guys should be familiar enough that while they may not be BFFs, atleast they know each other a little.

Just so you all know, I just bought the APG this morning and have been reading through it. I should be familiar enough with it by the time you all hit level 2 that I can allow the additional material into play.
As a rule of thumb, I usually don't allow rules from sup. material that I don't own. The rule originated in part from a D&D 3.5 game I played in a several years back. We had 2 players who had abilities cherry-picked from, (I wish I wasn't making this up), 8 different source books and that wasn't the bad part. The bad part is when they would hold up game-play by constantly referencing said books to see what their abilities did every freakin' time their turn came up.
By consensus, our group voted on the rule, "If you want it, it needs to be detailed on your character sheet and I don't care how many pages it takes to list it." It had the dual benefits of speeding up game-play and discouraging that kind of character building.
The other part being that I may want to use said sup material for my own characters. :)
I wont enforce the above rule as PbP gives plenty of time to reference whatever rules you need to. So if you have any options you want to use from the APG when Level Up happens, let me know.

It has the Archetype rules in detail. Darksmoke is using them to tweak his rogue. I allowed him to do so initially as the SRD gave a pretty decent explanation on how they work. The AGP explains it better so I find I have no real issues with bringing them in full. 'sides, with the hints he's been dropping character-wise, it'd only be a matter of time before psychicmachinery starts to tweak his wizard to an alchemist-style character. Figure I could make it a little easier on him. :)
As for switching classes, there is multi-classing if you want to go that route when you level-up. Just looking at worthwhile options to add across the board.

Huh, I hadn't even considered that honestly. It would be an interesting concept I have to admit. When I talked about arcanist's shop / apothecary I was mostly looking for potions and arcane scrolls to copy into my spellbook. Of course, now the wheels are turning.

You might want to look over the Archtypes and see if the GM will allow you to add one to your fighter Volty.
It all depends on what type of fighter you wish to play. They have archtypes for polearm masters, two-handed fighters, and over a half-dozen more. And most don't get "new abilities" till after first level anyway.
I would almost ask for gaining the Urban Druid archtype. As Nobility domain would be a better help. But I don't ant to change my background and like the way he speak to animals (even when not using his ability).
SO no changes for me. Will look at the equipment though.

The impression I got from both you back story and your conversation with Tander was that you where looking for potion recipes and various other alchemical items in your quest for knowledge of the fallen empire. Ah, well.

How does lying work? Do I have to roll a bluff on any lie? Are plausible ones more likely to succeed?
I'm not going to in this situation. I'd likely just insert foot in mouth.
My reading of the rules is that it's a skill vs skill contest, Bluff vs Sense Motive in this case. Modifiers can include believability of what you say and your reputation with the person. If you're known to them as a liar, cheat, etc... they get a bonus to their skill, even if they like you. And if you're unknown, they may or may not be stand-offish depending on their nature. :) That being said, it only occurs, if the person in question has reason to think you'd lie.
Princess Leia: "Do you trust him?"
Han: "No. But he is my friend."

Weylyn Dell |

SweeperAZ, Weylyn wants to live honestly, but has yet to find another vocation that pays as well as his currenty "job". I realize that he'll become an adventurer soon, but in the meantime, and while we're in Sandpoint, can he have some history of trying to become some sort of "Security Control Specialist" for the guard? A paid thief out to ensure proper precautions are taken in securing valuables and holdings.
