Dexter Quigley |
While Dex is no warrior, even he knows that a mere rock won't slay a Goblin. His hammer though, is another matter entirely. While not a weapon designed to kill like the ones he crafts, if he hits a living creature with it, it'll die if the blow is placed well enough.
Dexter foregoes throwing a rock and steps into the doorway of a building awaiting a Goblin to charge at his position hoping they overlook him in their wild bloodlust charge.
Stealth 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Initiative 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
I don't think we have any actual combat weapons, I have a sledge hammer so I will assume that damage on that is 1d6.
GM John Napier |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Flouncy: I can "bot" the initiatives of the players if everyone is in agreement.
Dexter: That's fine.
For this combat, everyone will make and post the rolls for their actions. When everyone is done posting, I will use those actions and post the results of that specific round of combat. I know Sunny will be actively avoiding combat, so she will need to make Stealth rolls. She cannot take ten, as this is a dangerous environment with real penalties for failure.
Post your Round 1 actions.
Dexter Quigley |
I am OK with Botting Initiative it's what I do for the games I DM on PbP.
Round 1
Dex awaits a Goblin to charge past his position. He holds when the first and second come opting for the second or third he will believe will pass them by, after all, he's a big enough target and fighting more than one of these buggers is just asking for trouble unless yer skilled, at combat anyhow!
Sledgehammer Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Sledge Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Flouncy Magoo |
Flouncy will attempt to back up 20' and use his sling again, aiming at the same goblin Dex is fighting.
sling: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage is 1 if he hit.
Sunny Willowood |
Round 1:
Sunny hides behind a nearby cart or low wall, peering around it to watch for approaching goblins.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
I'm ok with GM rolling init.
Sunny Willowood |
Looks like Sunny is the only smart one here. lol
Just trying to play her as a first level commoner with no combat experience! She will probably be motivated to fight if either her companions are doing well and/or someone is in trouble.
GM John Napier |
The party is beset by three Goblins
Round 1 Results:
Valdimir swings at the first Goblin and hits its head solidly. It falls off it's mount and is bleeding profusely.
The Goblin's mount bites Valdimir for 4 points
The Second Goblin sees Sunny, attacks, and misses. It's mount bites Sunny for 4 points.
Sunny is hiding.
Cletus swings the shovel at the First Goblin's mount, missing.
Dexter swings the sledge at the First Goblin's mount, barely missing.
Jared swings a staff at the First Goblin's mount, missing.
Flouncy slings a bullet at the First Goblin's mount, hitting for 1.
The Third Goblin swings a sword at Jared, missing.
The Third Goblin's mount tries to bite Jared, missing.
Valdimir: Roll vs. a DC 12 Fort Save.
Sunny: Roll vs. a DC 12 Fort Save.
Assign damage and Post your Round 2 actions.
Sunny Willowood |
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The round 1 notes that Sunny is hiding, but I assume she is not hiding well if she is being attacked; Did she attempt to hide and then get attacked, or did she get attacked and subsequently move into hiding?
GM John Napier |
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
The round 1 notes that Sunny is hiding, but I assume she is not hiding well if she is being attacked; Did she attempt to hide and then get attacked, or did she get attacked and subsequently move into hiding?
Sunny was attacked before she went into hiding, by a Goblin / Goblin Dog pair that had a higher Init.
Also, finished your dice expression. don't forget to use the Left Bracket "/dice" Right Bracket.
Flouncy Magoo |
That makes it easy to remember! Until he gets some sneak attack going, he'll be worthless in a fight. I was interested in playing a weakling just to change things up.
GM John Napier |
Round 2 results:
Valdimir attacks the first Goblin's mount, and it drops.
The second Goblin swings at Flouncy and misses. It's mount tries to bite Flouncy and misses.
Sunny is afflicted with an allergic reaction ( -2 Dex, -2 Cha for 1 day ). Sunny's hide check is now 13 from scratching the rash.
Cletus swings the shovel at the second Goblin and hits solidly.
Dexter, seeing the first mount drop, switches to the second, and barely misses.
Jared swings at the second Goblin and misses.
Flouncy slings a stone at the second Goblin and hits.
The third Goblin fails to detect Sunny. The Goblin attacks Flouncy and misses, as does it's mount.
Post your round 3 actions.
Flouncy Magoo |
Flouncy's never been in a real fight to the death before. He's feeling a bit overwhelmed. He attempts to tumble to a position away from Sunny, where he isn't going to get flanked, hopefully closer to someone who can fight these monsters.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
He then goes total defense. AC 19.
Hey! he yells. A little help, guys?
Sunny Willowood |
Sunny is hurting from the bite and itching all over from some sort of allergic reaction, perhaps to the beast’s mangy hair or flaky skin.
“What a horrid rat-dog thing,” she thinks, scratching violently. “And now it’s gone after poor Flouncy.”
She takes out her sling, and with hands shaking from the severe itch, attempts to fire a bullet at the creature attacking Flouncy.
Sling (proficient): 1d20 ⇒ 20 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
EDIT: crit confirm roll.
Sling (proficient): 1d20 ⇒ 8 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Attack rolls above includes penalty for itching but do NOT include penalty for firing into combat. If this applies then -4 to the rolls above.
Goldus Glintsnatch |
Goldus rubs his eyes and sits up in bed, judging by the banging, clanging and screaming he was either missing a party or his call to become a fabulous adventurer had been answered. What a poorly timed nap he'd had. Finally something to do, who'd had thought waiting for adventure to knock on your door step could be so boring and take so long he said to himself as he shambled over to the window, pulled up a stool, climbed on and looked out. Before him he saw the sprawling battlefield below. A goblin attack, classic adveturer stuff this
If in range Goldus leans out the window and casts daze (DC14 will save) on the closest goblin, if out of range he will make his way downstairs closer to the action.
Goldus's mental focus is spread thusly
3 evocation
2 Conjuration
2 Enchanting
3 Illusion
----------------------------–--------------------------------------
initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
EDIT: formatting
Goldus Glintsnatch |
Goldus begins creeping down the stairs, keeping his distance from the Frey only hoping to get within 30ft of the enemy, not wanting to find himself on the pointy end of anything. Or ruin his clothes for that matter.
stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Goldus Glintsnatch |
Ockie dockie, Good luck guys!
GM John Napier |
Round 3
Valdimir attacks the second Goblin and misses.
Goblin 2 attacks Sunny and misses. It's mount bites Sunny for four points.
Sunny slings a stone at the second Goblin and it falls off it's mount, bleeding from a head wound.
Cletus swings his shovel at the second Goblin's mount, barely missing.
Dexter swings at the third Goblin and misses it.
Jared swings at the third Goblin, missing it.
Flouncy is in total defense.
The third Goblin attacks Dexter and misses, as does it's mount
Goldus will reach the combat area in two turns.
Post your Round 4 actions.
Flouncy Magoo |
If he can, Flouncy will draw his weapon (move) and try to flank the mount that bit Sunny.
acrobatics, if needed: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
He moves 10' or less, getting into position to flank somebody.
