Here's discussion, where we can work together to get your characters ready to go.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

I should be ready to rock, unless you have specific changes in mind.

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Likewise.

I need to pick equipment, but after that I am ready (unless specific changes are needed)

M Half-Orc Monk 1 (MOMS), HP:13/13|AC:16|T:15|FF:10|CMB+4|CMD:16|Fort:+4|Ref:+4|Will:+5|Init:+2|Perc: +7| Stunning Fist 1/1 SPD: 30 foot;

I shall fix my guy up .. when I can .. should be within 24 hours..

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Alright, outside of my natural weapons slayer, we have two rangers, a monk, and a sorcerer. I'll try to pick up the Trapfinding Slayer talent at level 4. Lillie looks to be set up as an archer and Cnut a front-liner. I suppose since Korvak and I have better mobility we'll serve as strikers.

We'll need to be careful with healing but we should have tracking and survival more than covered.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

OK, guys, while we're waiting for everyone to check in, I need all of you to carefully reread the character build rules to make sure there isn't anything you missed. Also, if you haven't already, you should read the player's guide to the AP. I will be looking very carefully over your characters. Hopefully we can get started soon.

You also may have another character join you. I've sent an invitation to a character who almost was chosen so that you have a full party.

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

I didn't really think about it when I was building, but since Cnut can at least appear fully human (when he wants to), I might oughta pick up 'face' type skills like Diplomacy. Though from a purely mathematical standpoint only Intimidate is a class skill and I have a -1 CHA mod, so...

Healing shouldn't be a problem once we hit L4 and the Rangers can use CLW wands, but until then things could get dicey.

Also, I've added my hybrid and animal form stats to my profile.

I've got Bluff and Diplomacy. Arcavic has spent the past few years passing himself off as "that funny elf who doesn't like the sun very much," so he's hopefully at least viewed as less dangerous.

I think Arcavic is all set up appropriately, but I'll double check to verify. Looking forward to playing with you all!

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

No need to worry about Intimidation, I can take care of being the scary one. We should be solid on the skills front, I think. Doubly so when I take Trapfinder.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Also, I seem to be currently unable to dot the gameplay thread.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Hmm, that's odd. Let me know if it doesn't work in a few minutes.

Still no luck. It is acting like I hit 'preview' instead of 'submit post'

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

I would suggest that you try again (since someone else dotted in since you last posted here), and if it still doesn't work, ask for help in website feedback on the forums. You could also try a different browser, if you want.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

F#$&ING FINALLY

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Do you know each other? Are you in Phaendar permanently, or if not, why are you visiting there?

M Half-Orc Monk 1 (MOMS), HP:13/13|AC:16|T:15|FF:10|CMB+4|CMD:16|Fort:+4|Ref:+4|Will:+5|Init:+2|Perc: +7| Stunning Fist 1/1 SPD: 30 foot;

I've been playing with my background a little and i'm using the adopted trait human, Carefully Hidden, by my adoptive human parent in the outskirts of Phaendar, most likely in a cabin in the woods.

So most people don't know that much about me, but they do know of me.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

*Ahem* initial posting issues aside...

I kind of wrote Ira to be a known figure around Phaedar, after all, a Molthuni deserter lizard-thing with an adopted halfling daughter is bound to get noticed. He's also something of an odd-job man and makes most of his money as a scout and a trapper.

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Cnut lives in the woods outside of town, visits from time to time to sell pelts, firewood, etc. The townsfolk recognize him on sight, but no one's really close to him. Too many rumors about his past with Molthune, his alleged hunting alongside bears in the forest, a few might have even caught glimpses of him transforming at one time or another(though he tries to keep that particular quirk of his ancestry under the radar).

Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald

Hi guys, I'm the player GM Redelia was referring to. Since I'm a full on nature cleric I have healing and a few other niches covered. In my background there's a half elf druid mentor figure and my character is from the Fangwood forest. Could well have introduced me to the ranger since we're both nature oriented. Cnut want to share a half elven druid pal?

Edit: yeah we really really could since my character was also nursed back to health by a Druid.

Lillie is also from the Fangwood, so we might know each other in passing, as she generally tries to avoid druids (being an aberation), but might have visited with her father.

She had few contacts with civilisation before signing up with the chernasadro rangers

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Hey guys, I'm here, I'm just staying out of the way while you discuss these things. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything from me.

Arcavic has been living in Phaendar, although he's mostly kept to himself. Still, he'd at least have met those who live in the town. He typically covers himself up very thoroughly against both the sun and so people don't realize he's a Drow.

He probably would have gone out of his way to avoid Lillie, though. He'd know exactly what she was, and would think she has another Drow raiding party with her.

He probably knows Ira best out of the other PCs. He isn't much of a nature-sort, so probably doesn't know the more nature-oriented characters.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Ira is pretty active in the town, despite being suck an odd duck. Arcavic would definitely has seen him at least. Though, I don't know how well they would really know each other given Ira's rough nature.

For you other nature-types, it is likely you've seen Ira out and about in the forests but he does not possess anything like a spiritual connection to nature. The forests are much like the town, an area he has decided is his and therefore he is free to use and take care of accordingly. Granted, he spends much of his time flying when scouting or hunting so having a conversation with him might be a touch tricky.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

I've been thinking about it and I just realized I've got another avenue for character connections. Ira's daughter, Little Tooth (Halfling with a level in the Adorable Scamp NPC class) may very well attach herself to people she finds interesting and thereby drag Ira into an association with them.

Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald

@Cnut maybe our mutual Druid aquaintence taught you the green faith but realized my character needed a god to bring her past her association witht he mother of monsters.

@Ira I'm certain Val would be very easy to befriend by a little halfling girl unafraid of large lizard people.

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

My druid friend was killed by the Ironfangs a few years ago, if that works for you. He could still have known yours if they were different people, though.

I got it, the two druids studied under the same mentor and were friends. Each took pride in their unusual protegees perhaps tot he tune of a friendly rivalry? Sort of a who adheres to being a better steward fo nature sort of thing?

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Works for me.

If any of you have needed healing recently (past 6 months) she has set herself up as a healer a bit outside of town. For commoners and such she just trades labor or food.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Sorry, meant to get another post in last night, I had a crippling headache last night. I'll get one up as soon as I'm off work

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

I have two questions for you guys:

1. Are you wanting to move on with the story soon?

2. Does anyone have a problem with a child being in danger as the story progresses? If so, we can talk a bit about how much, etc.

To answer question 1, I'd like to learn a bit more about some of the NPCs in the bar - the owner, the name of the retired ranger, any other notable NPCs present, that sort of thing.

To question 2, given that Ira's mute halfling daughter is with him, I'm guessing that will be something we'd have to deal with. While I don't have an issue with children being in danger, I'd prefer it happen primarily as a story point, and that we have a reasonable chance to save them, as opposed to having a child be in danger and us being incapable of rescuing them for whatever reason.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

1) Considering I was incapacitated last night I'd like a little longer to do a bit of characterization and meet the other characters once I am off from work in a couple of hours.

2) Not to sound callous about the subject but I would not have included Little Tooth if I was not comfortable with the idea. It can be excellent motivation for characters so long as it is not used in a tasteless fashion. I agree with Arcavic on many points.

Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald

1) I'd like a little more stage dressing... Snippets of the former ranger's story. What does it smell like, is there anything cooking? What's the crowd like and how are they reacting to a sizable group of "evil" races in their midst.

Basically I'd be happy to move forward with the story or stay at this but introducing more immersive elements.

2) I agree, child endangerment is not a trigger but let heroic characters try to be heroic. In other words I'd take more issue with a narrative death then a failure on the part of the party.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

@ GM Redelia
Out of curiosity, what would you think a good price for a sort of 'riding harness' for Ira would be? (Not like that you perverts)

I've been thinking, and while it makes sense for him to carry people from time to time, a harness like those used in tandem parachuting makes even more sense. While I'm not exactly looking for something to let him carry someone and fight at the same time, unless they were, say, the size of a halfling child, having more freedom with his hands would be something exceedingly useful in other scenarios.

@ Everyone else
Can we somewhat establish where everyone is in the tavern? I figure Ira is used to sitting at the back as his wings are a little hard to see through but Little Tooth is squirming her way to as close to the storyteller as possible.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Ira, look at the cost of a saddle for a mount as a starting point, and see what you come up with.

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Ira, I'd think an exotic riding saddle would come pretty close to what you're looking for.

Cnut is close enough to hear, but trying not to be the center of attention. Though in this crowd, that should be easy (for the moment...)

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

An Exotic Military Saddle does seem to be the closest to what I want. I figure Ira counts as an 'Exotic Mount' and the Military Saddle is the only one that seems to have additional measures in place to prevent a rider from falling out.

EDIT: Flying Straps! Here we go.

Male Skinwalker (Coldborn) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Ok, that's pretty cool.

M Half-Orc Monk 1 (MOMS), HP:13/13|AC:16|T:15|FF:10|CMB+4|CMD:16|Fort:+4|Ref:+4|Will:+5|Init:+2|Perc: +7| Stunning Fist 1/1 SPD: 30 foot;

1 - I'd like to move on.. lets get this thing started.. at the least moer specific descriptions of what is happening in the tavern

2 - Heroic creatures would put themselves in harms way for the child, unless it was left somewhere it would potentially be a game changer.

Arcavic is at the bar, listening but not drawing attention to himself. He knows that most people don't know what a Drow is, but he doesn't want to someone to associate him with his people's history.

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Ira, how old is Little Tooth? From your description I could see her as anywhere from about 6 to about 12.

Yay for simultaneous posting with the GM!

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

Yeah, I edited my post to take your actions into account.

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Let's say about nine

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Accidentally posted in the wrong thread

1. Moving was fine

2. I'm fine with it, as long it doesn't turn the campaign into an escort mission ;)

@Ira: any plans to make her a cohort or a squire or something. A mute dragon oracle could work

Male Wyvaran Slayer 2 | HP 17/19 | F +4 R +6 W +1 | AC 18 T 13 FF 15 CMD 18 | Init: +3 Perception: +6 Fly: +10

Nope, unless this campaign somehow stretches for a few years

We can allways hope
