You decide that you have rested long enough, and are ready to return to the Spire. That morning, you stop in the tiny alchemists' shop in Fort Inevitable, where the proprietor, a spry little gnome with bright orange hair, happily sells you all the vials of alchemists' fire and alkali flasks you wish.

You also make a quick stop at the Fort Inevitable Post Office to pick up any packages of more rare gear you may have ordered, and then set out. Since this is the third trip for most of you, you are familiar with the way, and find it an easy trip.

Pausing just outside the Spiral if you guys want to say or do anything; also giving a chance for an explanation of the character switch, if any

Elado is ready to delve back in.

Pig purchases a few items at the alchemist's shop before the head for the Spire. "Pig have fun. Nobody sleep last time," he says with a deep chuckle.

"Greetings all..I am Darrioos. A pathfinder from the Isle for Kortos sent to aid you. a tall man in leather armor with ridges on hius neck enters.

"Pig welcome Doris," he says with a tusked smile.

This was NOT updating for me, will review and post in a bit.

"Ahem...Doris is a female name. I am male"

GM: Asked Darrioos a question in Discussion, will repeat here because it seems the boards are being a bit wonky -- Having encountered someone of your race in the past during a scenario, are you comfortable with Raga knowing a little bit about them? Alternatively, as GM, do you feel that having a small bit of info is acceptable?

"Why Doris have girl name then?" Pig asks innocently.

We should be so lucky, Pig. Females are formidable regardless of race. Let's focus, this dungeon isn't getting any easier.

Catching up to the group just as they leave town, Baku gasps for breath. "Sorry....late....tried...." The man holds a finger up, taking a moment to catch his breath.

"Phew! So...I received a letter from my friend, Herra. Said still tied up, but hopes to return soon. Apparently her soon and my soon aren't the same. I was waiting at the inn, but...anyway. Better late than never."

Turning to the new comer, "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Baku."

"Oh, Pig! I did some studying while we were apart. Figured out how to conjure up some balls of fire and storms! This is going to be fun."

Raga squints a bit as she makes the final adjustments to her armor and carefully places a cloak with Low Azlanti-inspired decorations about her neck.

"Hello, Darrioos! I'm Ragathiel's Hand, but you can call me 'Raga' or 'Fox; for short. You remind me of a priest I ran into during a mission for the Society.

He was deaf and his name was Uori... have you ever heard of anyone by that name? And do we need to find you big pools of water to pray in?" the kitsune offers helpfully.

"Oh, by the way I'm sort of a security device expert, kind of had to learn on the fly after the last mission to the Spire."

She'll give the recent arrival a nod and make a few last-minute adjustments to her gear. "Ready to move out when you folks are."

"Darrioos. The snows have brought us another strong companion." The frostbitten orc nods. "We shall prevail in this further exploration, with your help."

"Ooo," says Pig in response to Baku's pronouncement of fire and storms.

"Thank you Yroh...Pig seems to mock my name. My blade and skills shall speak for me!" He turns to Raga. "Hmmm...Hmm...I believe another group of my people sent a priest of that name to some ruins. I am not familiar with them.'

@GM I'm using that for background if it's ok. In background the PC is from the isle of Kortos

"Pig no mock. Pig try harder."

The half-orc makes several failed attempts to properly pronounce Darrioos' name. "Pig got it."

Raga, anything you might remember from the Confirmation as background is just fine.

Since you guys are having fun, I'm not going to push forward quite yet.

I'm ready to get back in the action :)

You enter the Spire, and make your way back to the stairs on the first level, and then the pit on the second level. At the bottom of the pit, you find stairs again.

Broad stone stairs open into a small, irregularly shaped chamber lit by oil lamps. To the east, a short flight of steps leads up to a sturdy door set in the middle of a wall and flanked by arrow slits. To the north, a wide gate of iron bars blocks an archway leading to a larger chamber filled with the eerie green glow of the Emerald Spire.

Elado performs a basic rite of protection and keeps his hands up ready to defend the group at medium range.

Mage Armor CL 4

"Pig see fortification," he announces. "Want Pig to smash door or lift gate?"

"Though it may come to that Pig, why dont we try this door first?" inquires Baku. Pausing in front of the door, he listens intently. With a nod to the half-orc, he tugs the door open and steps out of the way.

I'm assuming the only light down here is what we use, right? At which case, I have an ioun stone circling about my head.

"Blue Man has sharp eyes," Pig compliments the samsaran. "Find hidden doors like dwarf."

"Yes he is quite adept." Darrioos tries the door.

Raga will peer at the door thoughtfully and warily to make sure there's nothing amiss with it before attempting to open it.

Perception (vs. Traps): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

"Hmmm."

Raga finds no traps or locks on the door. She opens it to finds a small room, empty of people. Weapon racks and wooden wardrobes line the walls of this room. The dummies in the center of the room wear suits of armor. Masks hang on the wall near the door; each consists of a brass nosepiece with cheek guards, from which a veil of red silk hangs.

Pig heads into the room to inspect the arms and armor, appraising their quality. He glances at the masks on the wall. "Pig no know style."

Elado looks for magical auras in the space.

Detect Magic on the weapons and the veil.

Peering in, Yroh wrinkles his nose. "Gaudy." he sniffs, before stepping aside for any others who wish to investigate.

"Well...this is a strange collection." Eyeing the materials about the room. "Unless one of you really want a strange mask, I leave the door to your expertise Raga."

Raga checks over the masks to see if there's anything to them, and the armor.

Appraise: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

"Could someone verify that there isn't anything useful in a magical way here? I'll start looking at the door."

Darrioos casts detect magic and scans the room.

"I can try Raga"

In your careful investigation of the room and its contents, you do not find anything magical, or any weapons better than what you already have. If any of you are wanting to pick up a different kind of weapon to carry while on this floor, let me know. The mask seems designed to drip some kind of liquid onto a pad under the nose of the wearer.

Ah, seems to be used for stinky business. Elado passes on it and readies for the next room.

Is everyone ready to move on?

"You don't say? Perhaps that is an omen of what we're to find on this level? I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting the impression these levels are different cliques...perhaps we'll run into the cool kids in a level or two?"

Ready to continue

"Sharks," Pig says. "Pig think Sharks next level."

With the fox indicating the way is safe, Pig opens the door inelligently.

Ready to move on.

Elado watches over Pig's shoulder to blast anything that looks unfriendly.

"Okay, think I've got it...."

Red Fox, standing by.

"Ready too"

"Pig I seriously doubt there are sharks ahead" Darrioos smiles

Yroh steps around the racks of equipment. "Lead on, Pig. Let us see what wondrous horrors await us next."

You open the door and walk out into a hallway.

At one end of the hallway, you see a statue of a woman pouring water. The hallway bends and continues past the statue. At the other end is a guardroom, looking out over the area you would have had to go if you did not find the secret door. There are two human guards present, staring out through arrow slits. They do not see you yet.

Pig, Baku, and Elado, you may act in the surprise round.

Pig stomps around the corner, ready to bring down his axe.

"Surprise!"

Elado slips down the hall and behind some crates to line up a shot.

Hearing the sounds of something moving about as Pig opens the door, the hairs on Baku's neck stand on end. The half-orc's jovial announcement confirming his concerns, the man rushes into the room to get a better look at whats ahead.
