I managed to finally load the subforum, so I have the thread started.
The Meridian Parallel - Cursebreakers
Please check in over there when you can, and let's move all discussion fkr that game there so I can stop cluttering Rando's space. I'll have setting information up within a few days.

'Fraid Thalin will need botting, boss.
Cut'n'paste for all my games.
Thursday, 18 July, in the wee hours of the morning, I get on an airplane and leave for the international Boy Scout World Jamboree. I'll be 1 of the roughly 120 people working on JUST the archery ranges, helping the attendees have some fun.
I will have only my phone for electronic access, but AT&T has wired the dickens out of the facility, and a signal should never be my problem. Power on the other hand . . .. There will be a limited number of places to plug things in (compared to the tens of thousands of attendees) and no safe place to plug something in and walk away from it, which means time spent charging is time spent NOT doing any of the things people are there to do.
I am going to try to check in and cover anything I should cover, but I don't know for sure how well it is going to go.
I won't be home again until 3 August.
Actually, part of the reason I've been less responsive the past little bit is I've been getting ready to go. Still have a lot to do, honestly.
If you need to bot me to keep the story moving, BOT ME.
(Okay, so I made it Sunday night instead of Wednesday night.)

"Life is what happens while you are making other plans."
On my arrival day at the World Scout Jamboree, I got caught in a DELUGE of rain. My phone refused to charge because of water detected in the charging port. It has been drained of power sitting in a ziploc bag of rice for a couple of weeks, and STILL reports water in the charging port.
I'll find out later how bad off my phone really is. It can charge through induction, at the worst. Just didn't have any induction chargers at the Jamboree!
Posting this to my games, and I will come back later today and try ot catch up through them.
Thank you for your understanding!
Oh, and the group of 16 staffers (including me) running the 30-target 10m static archery range had people step up to the Shooting Line and throw arrows downrange almost 10,000 times (for 50,000 arrows), including 1 blind archer, 1 wheel-chair bound archer that we held up so she could hoot standing like everyone else, and 1 one-armed archer.

Yeah, my mobile...melted, we think. All we know is that it was on a day when the UK hit 30 degrees celsius (100 Fahrenheit) my phone worked in the restraunt with my wife, then two minutes later it had powered down and wouldn't turn on despite having 90% power when I checked. ot great, but even worse for my mobile provider - I only had two weeks until it's paid off and now they have to give me a new one. Hah.
The archery sounds like a blast, though! I'm a terrible shot with a bow, but I do have decent aim with a crossbow.

Finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'll try to post something tonight if I don't pass out from the almost-all-nighter last night.
No worries, Boss... Take care of business!

Okay, friday has passed, still have a job. though...at this point I might want a different one. Talk about a bad week. Server went down 4 times, lost an entire day's data, and the boss accused me of using too little RAM (even though the RAM on the server isn't maxed out and the idiot telling him that didn't understand basic technical terms).

Ahh, you speak words we could discuss for hours... another time. Where are you located by the way?

I'm in Texas. Yee haw.
(Please save me from this heat I'm Appalacian at heart)
Sharlavaka |
I'm British. And therefore best.
And yeah, normally the backstory is the Azlant fled from Golarion during Starfall and ended up creating a fairly horrible space empire. But Rando's backstory might be different.
Sharlavaka |
Yeah, it's a lot cooler than it was (see phone melting temperatures) although still warmer than I'd like someday. I'm from Northumberland, which as the name hints at, is in the very North of England (there are Scots more Southern than me) and therefore I'm not used to this whole Murderous Daystar crap. When the sun came out back home it created a seafret, and the fogbank would cover town. I always assumed the sky was simply slate gray until I left for University.
...also, slightly ironically, my wife is American.
Sharlavaka |
That's how my wife likes it. I say I like moderate weather, but I'm told my idea of moderate is a bit off - most people don't consider snow to be t-shirt weather.
rando1000 |
Ah, a side point Rando, aren't the Azlanti from Gollorian, not the other way around?
You are correct; I was confusing them with an ethnicity from OD&D's Mystara setting. In that setting there was a human subrace that crashed on the world; I just assumed Azlanti were similar.
EDIT: The Aphatians!

Nope. Go with the standard setting. It's not super-relevant to the campaign either way.

I'm not native to St Louis, but rather Northern Illinois; our summers here are about 10 degrees (f) hotter than I'm used to on average, and for more days. That said, it hardly snows here at all anymore, so our winters tend to be much milder. The older I get, the more I appreciate the mild winters.

Can they teleport? What would I even roll to know if they could or couldn't?
SerpentViolet |
Have we determined that our energy weapons harm the beast when Azlanti bullets didn't? New settlers would need to know that.
rando1000 |
No, you have not determined that. It's hard to say whether the Azlanti bullets hurt the creature; it simply killed them very quickly. It could well have been somewhat injured and just regenerated, as you know it does from your bleed attack.
Uret Jet |
We fought a snow monster, the snow monster ran off. The suits were a bit damaged but we fixed them (spending ten in-game minutes). We started to probe a little into the facility, found sounds of the Azlanti using portals to transport troops down into the facility (in orbit likely), but no Azlanti. A few dead dwarves, and we know there's another snowbeast somewhere further in the facility but we're avoiding it for now.
Some stuff, but not as much as you'd expect.
Tamrat, are you still interested in the game I'm starting up? A few other players have suggested people they know to come in and take up the sixth player slot as Arcane Casters (The only thing we're really missing), but I still did offer an invite towards you first.

The command format uses the characters "[" and "]" as command delimiters.
The format is "dice=<label text>" in the first block and "/dice" in the closing block. What goes between them is ONLY dice and math. Such as "1d20+6".

Wait- am I linked to a surface canon or the ship's guns? I thought that's what Joyride was pointing out to me originally.
rando1000 |
I'm confused too. The "surface cannon" is a mining device for smashing rocks in that room. There's no hole in the roof. There's no way to fire at a ship in orbit. The range is a couple dozen yards.
I had originally thought you meant the mining crusher, but they you started talking about firing at the ship, so I was like, well, I must have misunderstood. If he's firing at a ship, he must have meant the ship's cannon.
Eshenvral Kothiavus |
I guess all three of us were confused. Well, let's just assume that Esh is as smart as he's listed and didn't try to uselessly control a mining laser.
Eshenvral Kothiavus |
Such is how it is, sometimes.
James "Joyride" Maxwell |
I like the idea, maybe if there was more time... days.
James could would on the physical mechanical aspects, including roof access and Esh should work on systems and calibrations.
Activate a few robots for construction tasks.
It's just a scene I have running through my head. I understand the limitations in this instance.
All good! Game on!
Guess what I'm saying is, we've got an awesome team all around!
rando1000 |
Hey guys, that's my bad... 100%.
More my fault I think; it's the GM's job to accurately describe the environment. I didn't elaborate enough on the mining device. I'll try to do better with my props in the future.
