I apologize profusely, prep for GenCon and GenCon itself occupied all my brain space. I'm back though! No more distractions for the time being
Guess you weren't counting on Paizo completely screwing the pooch when it comes to this website, were you?

I'm still expecting it to implode any minute. It's been down at least once today.

The Gnome |

*rubs face* Really is killing us here with the way it's been working so far.

No, I certainly was not >_>

Wait... They're frozen in fear for two rounds- does that count as a stunning or paralysis effect?

It is listed as a Mind-Affecting Fear effect. So I'd say no. It's not their muscles that is the problem; they're just plain scared stiff.

So now that I am realizing I need to level up to 5 still as I forgot amid all the website issues and other personal issues, I remembered something from the start of the game...
I have a question about something in the Blood of the Moon (original skinwalkers book) that always bothered me somewhat.
Werebat-kin can take a feat that lets the turn into a bat as Beast Shape II, a freakin' 4th level spell because bats are diminutive, not to mention they can FLY which is major at early levels, much more so 1st when you can qualify for the feat.
** spoiler omitted **
THEN they can take a 2nd feat to become a freakin' dire bat, essentially making them pretty much better than a werebat (since werebats only get a dire bat form, not a diminutive bat form)
No other skinwalker gets anything even similar, and that always made me think why not? I mean, why can't a witchwolf turn into a wolf with a feat?
So, what would you say to allowing a witchwolf to take a feat to turn into a medium sized wolf (not interested in going dire), as per Beast Shape I which is only a 1st level spell? Granted, it would get me +3 Str and +5 Dex however I would not be able to cast verbal or somatic spells, as I still wouldn't qualify for Natural Spell (not even full fledged werewolves do)
You had said you'd not allow it until at least 3rd level, so I thought I'd mention it again now at 5th. Then I can take Create Magical Tattoo at 7th level.

We're winding down on my presentation of this segment of the AP. I anticipate finishing before the end of the year. Are you guys interested in one more year to complete a story? Initially I had said 12th level, but it looks more like ending at 10th.
If you're ready to take a break from this one, I can put a good ending to the story after THIS adventure, if you'd rather.

Malavine |

I'm happy to continue this story, or we can swap for a little while and let these characters rest. Either way I'll be playing.
...I am eternal.

The Gnome |

I concur, I've loved playing both Hickle and Shmick as a duo and would enjoy seeing where and how they'd progress. But, I'd also be fine with letting their stories come to a rest if you feel that's the best course.

rando1000 |

Okay, we'll keep going then. I've already got the stuff I need to start preparing my next/final chapter for my shortened version of the AP. If all goes as planned, we'll start on that at the beginning of the year (or maybe sooner).

Okay I think I have Zelda all updated on the site, I removed the +1 miscellaneous bonus to all saving throws she had until I figure out what it was even from... and there isn't room for her AC bonus in her new wolf form.
Oh and her new 0 level spell is Sotto Voice, her new 2nd level spells are Oracle's Burden (chosen), Inflict Light Wounds (free), and Obscure Object (which would be level 2 as her mystery spell)
EDIT OH the +1 saves was the ABP right? Okay, adding it back. I always forget that.

The Gnome |

Sorry Rando, I was admittedly salty. I should've realized sooner that I needed to detect magic when I start looking around for things. I have Trap-Finder for a reason adter all, magic traps are supposed to be his thing. Given our luck we'll probably find more inside. ;P

![]() |

Haha as long as you don't end up like one of my players who forced the party to move at half speed because he insisted on keeping Detect Magic active AT ALL TIMES.
Also, you totally remind me of the Dead Alewives skit (the Mordenkainen's Magical Watchdog part)... which I'm SURE you know, most gamers do... but on the off chance you don't...
Dead Alewives' Watchtower Warning Against Dungeons and Dragons.

The Gnome |

Never in my life have I heard If any of the things you said. Though I may as well give it a watch anyway.

What!? You've seriously never heard that? It's a true classic... Gamers across the English speaking world quote it all the time... Some tables even have to make rules that if you quote it you get a penalty point or something. By the way, the spell is Mordenkainen's Faithful Hound (Pathfinder version minus the Greyhawk IP is Mage's Faithful Hound) but he never once calls it that correctly which is part of the joke of all those old D&D spell names, especially that one was very very common for people to never remember the actual name of it... :P

The Gnome |

I've only been a tabletoper for... Four or Five years I suppose by now. That and I've always been a bit inept when it comes to most pop-culture, makes sense I'd be ignorant of aspects of gaming culture too.
Audiocast was pretty funny, thabks fkr sharing that. It seems I had actually heard parts of this beforem. Though they were ponified videos of that first half and I never knew the source material.

Ah, okay yea haha I KNEW you had to have heard at least the first part if you've been a gamer for more than five minutes. :) The second part (the session where they bring in the girlfriend to play the princess is a sequel done awhile later) is less popular and rarely quoted like the original skit.
Oh, if you haven't seen it already (and odds are you haven't) then you should totally check this movie out. You can find it split into "episodes" on their YouTube channel now (though I actually bought the digital copy when it first came out.)
THe story behind it is simple. Back in the 80's during the height of the Satanic Panic, Jack Chick made a mini-comic warning of the dangers of Dungeons and Dragons. The gaming community quickly embraced the comic as the height of hilarity and then a few years ago JR Ralls of the satire site The Onion decided to ask Jack Chick if he could make a movie based on the comic. Crazy enough, Jack Chick agreed and so after a Kickstarter to raise funds to make the movie, we finally have the movie that will show you exactly what it was like being a gamer in the 80's... honest!

Actually, I had forgotten you had Trap-Finder. You specifically do NOT need detect magic to find magical traps. So MY bad, not yours. The only clarification is if you could specifically state you're looking for traps, that would be helpful.
I'm not going to retconn it, but I'll post something about it in a little bit.

Actually, MY BAD. I had forgotten to take Trapfinder into account. You DO NOT need to have case Detect Magic in order to see magical traps. Please just make sure to post when searching for traps, rather than just generally gathering information.

rando1000 |

I think most if not all of you are in Starfinder, but I'll put this here as well:
I'm heading out of town this weekend, will have limited time, if any, to post. So if you don't see anything for a few days, don't worry. I'll be back at it next week.

Kephry |

Oh crap, I totally forgot about Starfinder... I should have posted so I got notifications about it >_>
Also, sorry I haven't posted lately, been a hectic week already, full of crazy work days and doctor appointments.

Uret Jet |

Both big bad and mummy are still grappled, Rando. They need to make a CMB check in order to break free as a standard action. DC is the same as my spell, and even after acts as Difficult Terrain.

rando1000 |

I'm going to override the grapple on the Mummy, since I already moved him. Sorry about that. Take an auto-success as your next die roll in exchange.
Big bad is still grappled, but not pinned, so unless he tries to walk somewhere (which he hasn't), he just suffers the penalties of being grappled and can act normally.

I've just made the final post for this section of the adventure, though you can ask questions or role play as you like.
We'll give it a break for the rest of the year to give me some time to compile my final chapter, and, if everyone's still interested, we'll jump in sometime in early January.

The Gnome |

Would be nice to keep going, though I apologize for how inactive I tend to be on Paizo.
Hmm... I kind want to flex Hickle's gnomesh insanity and transform that neckace of fireballs into a box of Firebullets...

Hey if you're gonna go out, I say go out in STYLE!

![]() |

Yea, kind of sad you aren't going to do the entire AP actually.

rando1000 |

Update on my progress:
I've been going over the two modules I'm drawing material from for the final chapter, and should be ready to start up again early in the new year, around the 12th or so. Try to have your updated character sheets available by then.
Hope everyone had a good holiday.

The Gnome |

In between in-game then and in-game now, is there time to pawn off items and possibly build some new ones? Feels a bit pragmatic to ask considering the city was just involved in an undead uprising, but anything to help in the coming venture.

![]() |

yea holidays have been depressing

![]() |

Even if I do it last minute, I'm good. Not much to update this level.

The Gnome |

Anyone have any special gear they want custom made?

Malavine |

Do we have any party loot that I can use to bumf up my cash and grab a Decanter of Endless Water? Not only will it be useful to have as we travel, but it'll mean Malavine can have baths.
If not, the only thing I recommend we each buy is a Goblet of Quencing which would provide more than enough water per person to survive in the desert, but not enough for baths.
