Ril... just Ril, the scout answers.
Not sure how you found your way down here but myself and the others were taken prisoners by the black elves... held god knows how long... before escape. We're on the run from draw slavers even now. You'd best come with us.
Ril does the introductions with the group.

Black elves? Oh! Even in my homeland we have heard of the drow, they are used often behind a lady's back to deride her stubbornness and bossiness. Something like 'sounds like Lolth got ahold on her' some some other joke. It's not very funny and mostly used by old men who lack the prestige of a sage who has advanced society in some fashion that they did not - you know the type, the boring ones that probably only spent a century exploring the natural world. Not the type I would typically associate with, though I can't say my family is free of such burdens; even my dear uncle Glennidan fell into the trap of staying at home into his later years and getting a bit pudgy. I bet you didn't know someone like me could even get pudgy, but sedentary lifestyles and poor diet will do that to any humanoid - at I imagine. There might be some small races out there with just impossible metabolisms that could eat enough in a day to every get fat, but they would likely be rare. I wonder if I will ever encounter something like that...
This goes on for a while, but Varis does give room for introductions and such. He soon begins winding down the verbal outbursts, feeling much more home with a larger group than on his own.

"I like you Varis, you know how to enjoy yourself down here and can take humour in it, I appreciate that. My name is Atendarius Kraye, but you can call me Aten." He offers a hand to shakes and smiles with his slightly mad smile.

This was most fortunate! Without you I would have been toast for sure. I'm not sure where you are headed, but I would humbly ask to come along. I don't have a specific destination in mind.

Finally arriving in Blingdenstone you follow a patch up to a broad terrace before a gate, these wide stairs are built for gnomes feet. A top the stairs is a large entrance on the west wall, where wagons secured on a stone sled pulled up a chain on a step slope.

"Finally! This trip felt like it took years!" Lenthus says, awkwardly climbing the stairs.
"Why are we here again?" Asks Axthres.
"Getting people who want to be here to here, so that they can be happy here."
"You are going crazy."
"At this point, it seems like a distinct possibility. Fear not, I'll be a just and caring master for you until the day I die! And possibly even longer!"
"Asmodeus's armpits!" Axthres exclaims, "I just realized that in this company, you could come back!... I'm going to be working for you forever, aren't I?"
"I'll be your boss in hell." Lenthus says cheerfully.
"That sounds awful."
"It'd be in your best interests to keep me alive then, no?" Lenthus replies, smiling happily.

If it has been that long, then you need break off a piece of flesh and save your coin. It... it would be some time to afford that magic. We can make a pyre and scatter the bones so he cannot be used for some sort of necromancy, and then you can resurrect him at a later date, Varis responds grimly. Brightening significantly he adds, I'll join you! We will adventure together and save up the price to bring him back.

Aten's nearly child-like fascination with the world around him doesn't waver as they enter this new city. He gazes about with wonder and excitement.
"Do you think Bryn would even want to be resurrected? What if he is in some wonderful heaven right now, having long philosophical discussions with his god? That's what I hope for when I die." His face turns serious as he considers "I suppose we should give him that choice if we can though."

Upon seeing Jim jar and Ghiv the gates open or you and you navigate a maze to a series of gate towers embedded in the cavern walls and open as you approach and enter into inner Blingdenstone.
You leave the dark tunnels behind and step into what looks like another world. These aren't the sinister drow caverns or harsh, bare stone. But a subterranean land of warm colors and welcoming smells. The deep gnomes you see going about their business glance up at you with suspicion, but instinctively understand that you face no threat here..
One of the guards greets you with a deep nod and says "welcome to Blingdenstone."

A wide grin opens on Aten's face as the sights and smells of this city lift him up. He holds himself back from dashing through the streets and giggling madly. "Ah, civilization, I did not realize how much I missed thee!" He turns to Jimjar and Ghiv "Where would you suggest we go next friends?"

Safest point of 'Civilisation' - the Underdark is deadly without guidance (we need directions) and a place to resupply. I've thrown most of my money into the raise dead on Brynn pile. Are we doing this? I've yet to see others throw in. Once we all throw in, just what does a raise dead cost? Is it 500? or 5000? If its 5000? then my 122gp doesn't cut the mustard, so I may as well spend it to buy alchemist fires/healing potions

One thing I was considering, if this is a problem, is that Axthres, freaked out by the paladin and picking up on Lenthus being worried about what would happen with Brin and Lenthus later, smashes the skull of the corpse, passing it off like an accident. (sorry really long sentence.) No resurrection, no one to notice, a convincing reason to do so, and we can keep our gold.
