Thrand Prymlea |
Round Three
Thrand attempts to fell his foe.
Stag Sword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
I reserve a move action that will depend on if I kill my undead and if Ollok kills his.
Tzardüsk |
Tzardusk moves and again shoots at red.
to hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
dmg if hits: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Ollok Stoneguard |
Ohh man are you for real eating a dead corpse!!!
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Ollok downs the zombie and stops momentarily and stares at the body before him feeling the unfathomable urge to sink his teeth into that delicious, ashen colored neck of the...."ARRRRRR! You will DIE you foul abomination. Soon you will know the taste of steel as I sink my axes into your throat!" Ollok glares at the necromancer as he swings his ax at the nearest zombie orange with a determined zeal to kill the necromancer.
Seething with anger he sees the necromancer's champion emerge from the citadel and falls back. "Do this smart knight or we'll be replacing these dead guards!" he barks at Thrand. Take a 5 ft step back so that I'm now beside Thrand (based on the map please see below)
Btw the maps looks a little mixed up. I'm the dark blue dot so it seems based on the map that the Cyan zombie can't attack Thrand from my view. Also the cyan and green zombie are on top of one another?
Hand axe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
GM Qwerty |
I believe Thrand moves after killing the cyan zombie from his attack above, he did cut down the green zombie before, the cyan zombie stepped up over the green one once it fell. And i was hoping you would fail your WIL save...
Ollok resists the command which stuns the necromancer...and then the dwarf attacks the orange zombie.
Thrand hacks the cyan zombie and then moves to flank Ollok...
Tzardusk manages to wound the advancing red zombie but does not slow it down...

Frustrated at the robed man's magic Aren decides to change strategies. He draws another arrow, nocks it, then holds the release. He is waiting for the caster to begin a new spell befor he lets go. Hopefully distracting the acolytes ability to focus on the magic.
Held Action Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Anchard Wulfphear |
Anchard tries to use the relative safety the crossbow provides before giving up on a futile attempt to harm them and readies his mace and shield leading up to entering melee to aid his companions.

Round 3 Readies shield and mace
GM Qwerty |
Anchard misses with his attack and then readies his mace as the zombie approaches...
Tanariel sends an acid stream over the heads of Thrand and the necromancer...cursing her luck.
The Necromancer laughs at the elfs futile attack and then instructs the two handed sword armed skeletal warrior to attack the dwarf...
Skeleton vs Ollok: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 for a miss...
The Necromancer then moves back into the building avoiding a wayward arrow from the archer and lets his minions deal with the party...
The red zombie makes his way to Anchard to attack him next round...

Round Four
Thrand hacks at the nearest orange zombie while taking a 5-foot step toward his mistress.
Stag Sword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Anchard Wulfphear |
"Thrand! Lend me your sword arm here when you have a moment!" Anchard calls as he displays his lack of martial training against the zombie.
Mace*: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 151d8 ⇒ 8
Arendyl Gilvanus |
Welcome back everybody
Aren sensing his dilemma calls to Thrand "Press forward, I will support Anchard!" With that, he moves toward the cleric while launching an arrow at his aggressor.
Arrow at Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Move Action - Move 30ft toward Anchard
GM Qwerty |
@Arendyl- you can make it to Anchard and be next to the zombie if you so desire or you can stop short to retain using your bow in range.
Thrand hacks into the zombie to his front and manages to cut it down...
Anchard lands a solid blow on the zombie but does not drop it... however a moment later and arrow pierces the zombie but it stays upright...until acid is splashed on it from Tanariel and the zombie falls down...
The remaining undead, the skeletal warrior, is still engaged with Ollok...

The dwarven veteran curses his luck at being stuck with this minion while it's master escapes. "You'll feel my axe upon your skull soon enough you vile meddler! The only one dead will be you and I'll make sure to salt your grave and let you rot!"
Ollok hacks at the well armoured skeleton, but his axe goes wide as the skeleton moves out of the axe's path. Shouting to Thrand, "Knight this one will be needing us all to take down!" He falls back hoping to let the skeleton move up so that they can engage it on more favourable ground.
Move back after my attack. Using acrobatics to avoid AoO.
Hand Axe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 2 - 2 = 16
Tzardüsk |
Tzardusk, knowing his crossbow will do little to a skeleton, draws his falchion and waits for it to advance... hoping to move into a flank position before actually attacking.
Thrand Prymlea |
Round Five
Thrand 5-foot steps toward the undead warrior so that it is practically between him and the dwarf. "Ollok, let's flank this abomination and divide its attention." He waits for the dwarf to get in position, then strikes at the undead creature with his magical blade.
Stag Sword: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 201d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 (includes flanking)
Tzardüsk |
Without benefit of flank, Tzardusk steps forward and attacks the creature.

Arendyl Gilvanus |
Seeing that Anchard is freed up, Aren turns his attention back to the front line.
If he can see the black robed caster, this attack is aimed at him. If the caster is inside the arrow is aimed for the remaining skeleton.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Ollok Stoneguard |
Ollok quickly moves into flanking position and swings at the skeleton.

Tzardusk also manages to hack away at the creature dealing a little bit more damage than Thrand...
Arendyl sees the robed figure dart back inside the Tower and shifts his target to the skeleton warrior and chips off a bit of bone...
Ollok moves around the creature and misses...

Anchard is up
Anchard Wulfphear |
Anchard waits and watches what is to unfold, his confidence with his aim not so sure that he wouldn't hurt an ally by accident, and his melee skill lacking.
delaying until either someone gets hurt, the necromancer pops back up. Otherwise Anchard refocuses and switches back to his crossbow
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand says, "Our swords are going through its rib cage to little effect! If only we had bone crushing weapons. Hey, I've just remembered ... I have a mace!"
Ollok Stoneguard |
"Well draw your mace and put it to use, knight! The madman's champion sees you more a threat than me! Which is good I'll find his weak spot soon enough!"
Ollok swings his axe looking to catch the skeleton right on it's hip joint.
hand axe+flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15
damage+sneak: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (1) = 7
Tzardüsk |
Tzardusk tries to hit again, hoping not to make a fool of himself.

Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand ducks under the skeletal warrior's attack, drops his sword, then draws his mace and swings it at his emaciated foe.
Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 271d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 (includes +2 flanking)
GM Qwerty |
The shaman manages to strike a deadly blow even with the skeletons resistance and Thrand smashes it with his mace dealing the final blow as the foe falls down. Then those around the fallen creature spend a few moments to smash it to bits...
Recovering from the battle the group catches their breathe and notice the castle keep door is closed and apparently barred...
The sky above begins to change to a dark purple color as sounds of battle can be heard from inside the town...
catch your breath and level up after that fight.
Anchard Wulfphear |
"Don't suppose we have a plan on breaching their defenses from here now that stealth has been ruled out?" Anchard asks assessing the defenses. "Perhaps a window is unbarred or maybe if we wait longer enough we can enter when they send out their next necromancer creation."
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand "sheathes" his mace, then leans down to pick up the stag sword.
He says, "That was easy. Now where has that wicked priest buggered off to? The coward!
Ollok Stoneguard |
"I doubt we'd be able to get back as long as that wizard keeps their orb up. Should we just chop the door down?" Ollok looks over the door examining it.
Anchard Wulfphear |
If chopping down the door is the most expeditious way of entry, then as soon as the spirit and body are willing, get to work. As even the longer lived races would have to confess in this situation, time is of the essence. There are orcs to let Thrand back to killing.
Arendyl Gilvanus |
With a grim look at the others Aren says "Thrand was put in charge of the militia, his responsibility is there. I say we return to the front line. If we cannot repel the orcs, it matters not if this wizard is dead. "
Thrand Prymlea |
The knight replies, "We can go back the way we came. Unless anybody objects, let's go back to the stables and make our way through the tunnel."
Anchard Wulfphear |
What?! No, we need this place to fall back on when the walls fail us. There is no if they fall. Their forces nearly overran us and that was when they were weaker and less organized than they are. This plan will buy our companions out in the wilds more time to complete their mission. That and you do not let evil alone, that is how it succeeds. Anchard's voice turns from surprise to determination. If you all wish to quit this place, then be off, but I will not be the one to let it stand.
GM Qwerty |
If anyone goes back down into the tunnel they find the passage they used to gain entrance has closed due to the iconography finally failing and becoming charred.... looks like the only way forward is to continue into the keep...
the safety of the town is now up to the other team on the outside...your goal was always inside the keep.... so dont fret over the town. Is everyone updated to lvl 3?
Tzardüsk |
I'm leveled
"I agree with Anchard... we need to be here, for the good of the town. Ultimately, I fear the town's ability to withstand the outside forces lies here."
Thrand Prymlea |
That saves us an argument, but Thrand should have brought his horse! I am nearly done leveling up. Right now I am teetering between Mounted Shield and Intimidating Prowess.
Ollok Stoneguard |
Ollok grunts to himself as the others talk about leaving and staying. He could care less what they wanted his eyes were only one thing that necromancer. He'd almost made Ollok do the unthinkable – the thought almost made Ollok upheave the light breakfast he had before coming here. No his ax was going to split that necromancer's skull open with or without the others help.
Ollok moves past everyone heading to the stable and the other buildings in search of anything that could be used as a ram. "When you're done deciding on what side of the wall you want to be help me look sturdy beams. We'll ram the door down for those wanting to stay."
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Thrand Prymlea |
Thrand attempts to return the way they came. Finding it blocked by the force shield, he returns to his comrades and says, "There is no going back. The tunnel is blocked. There is one way forward. Let's storm the tower and punish the necromancer for what he has done!" He runs to the door and tries to smash it down with his manly might. "Pelor!"
Str: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
I went with Intimidating Prowess, especially since Thrand often fights on foot. Leveling complete.
Anchard Wulfphear |
Leveled
"Yes Ollok, at your discretion, make us a door. I would like to see this necromancer sweat a little.
