Round 1 Initi 15

GM Rosylin had moved up the rigging so the spear was thrown up at her, she always go's to hight in or before a fight and moved there before they attack to see them.

her hight in Rigging 2d4 - 1 ⇒ (4, 2) - 1 = 5x5 = 25 feet up - range to hit both ways

The spear comes up and Roslyn knocks it away with her arm brace.
Close that, just weak throw
She then looks at what's going in,
spell craft to see if they have magic running 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 err no idea

She could not tell if they had magic but she knew who they where, Rosalyn calls out to the fight below

"These creatures are Grindylow, they trip to kill so keep your footing"

then taking aim she fires her Spring bow down at one.

Light cross bow 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 TH 1d8 ⇒ 8 DMG P at the one that is grappling a PC

From Des' back, looking up at Rosalyn, "Thanks for the heads up"

With a flick of his wrist (Swift Action), a smoke pellet slides into Des' hands as he claps. A think smoke rolls around obscuring him on deck.

Now concealed (20% miss chance), he tries to stand up and side step away. 5ft step

If he can get on top off a box or something stable he will.

male Hobgoblin

Goandai quickly assesses the situation around him as he and Nekare` gain the main deck. Drawing his scimitar, he points at (Grindilow 1) and shouts, Nekare`, attack! while he himself maneuvers closer to the embattled Victor and, if possible, finding a close space which is not threatened, he casts Calm Animals at the octopus

affected HD: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 1 = 6

Rosalyn, its a DC 20 fly check to fly at greater than 45 degrees and at 45° you fly at half speed. So you would only make it to 20 ft. You could land in the rigging, or you'd have to spend a move action to keep moving or make a DC 15 check to stay aloft.

The arrow slices across the Octopus hide and it shudders in pain. Hit!

Desula, when you stand it provokes and is a move action. the Grindylow attempts to stab you.
1d20 ⇒ 20

Crit defense DC 20
Or 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12 +3 wounds
your bonus is Dex+DR (you have no shield or deflection)

The octopus...

I blame the boat moving to much

So that vigor first, then 2 wounds for crit multiplier

I think I may not like not rolling my bonuses...

The spear dug Deep into Desula's gut sapping all his vigor and dealing 10 wounds you take the full damage reduced by DR so 2+12 apply DR 1, and you get 3 direct to wounds for the multiplier. That's 16 total after DR from vigor then wounds.

1d3 ⇒ 1
Grindylow 3 on Pyre attacks violently, bristling angrily.

For 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 [ooc]magic, no DR[ooc]
As if by magic the Grindylows teeth dig into the Nagaji's armor and scales.

It then flops back and hurls his spear at Rosalyn
spear: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The throw is powerful but wide.

The previously flat-footed Grindylow also hurls his spear at Rosalyn
spear: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 but it goes totally the wrong direction.
Then it takes 5' step and bites Goandi

Once again, the teeth sink into flesh costing Vigor to escape real wounds [ooc]magic, no DR[ooc]

Victor grumbles as the octopus grabs hold of him
" tentacles! BAH. Why'd it have to be sea monsters!"

Recap.
Ros attacked the octopus, scratched it but no wound yet. She had 2 more spears tossed at her. Both miss.

Desula hit a smoke stick, but got hit anyway with a crit when he stood. He's hurt.

The octopus shook off the Calm spell Goandi used.

Then Pyre 3 damage and Goandi 4 damage got bit by magic teeth that pierced their armor

Pyre is prone and unthreatened, Goandi is threatened and Nekare is prone.

Ros,
you were at 20 ft at the end of round 1, and if you are moving up, then you go half speed, both up and sideways. So you would be 20 up and 20 away. It also takes a move action to load an X-bow,

Recap.
Grindylow bit and tripped Victor and then tossed a spear at Ros.

Octopus held Victor

Grindylow failed to trip Desula, then crit-bit him for either 1 or 5 depending on check. Also speared Ros.
