Lady Rosalyn Aanya Luminuss |
Round 1 Initi 15
GM Rosylin had moved up the rigging so the spear was thrown up at her, she always go's to hight in or before a fight and moved there before they attack to see them.
her hight in Rigging 2d4 - 1 ⇒ (4, 2) - 1 = 5x5 = 25 feet up - range to hit both ways
The spear comes up and Roslyn knocks it away with her arm brace.
Close that, just weak throw
She then looks at what's going in,
spell craft to see if they have magic running 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 err no idea
She could not tell if they had magic but she knew who they where, Rosalyn calls out to the fight below
"These creatures are Grindylow, they trip to kill so keep your footing"
then taking aim she fires her Spring bow down at one.
Light cross bow 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 TH 1d8 ⇒ 8 DMG P at the one that is grappling a PC
Desula Val'kyerin |
Round 1: Init:11
From Des' back, looking up at Rosalyn, "Thanks for the heads up"
With a flick of his wrist (Swift Action), a smoke pellet slides into Des' hands as he claps. A think smoke rolls around obscuring him on deck.
Now concealed (20% miss chance), he tries to stand up and side step away. 5ft step
If he can get on top off a box or something stable he will.
Goandai Uepher |
Goandai quickly assesses the situation around him as he and Nekare` gain the main deck. Drawing his scimitar, he points at (Grindilow 1) and shouts, Nekare`, attack! while he himself maneuvers closer to the embattled Victor and, if possible, finding a close space which is not threatened, he casts Calm Animals at the octopus
affected HD: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 1 = 6
GM Pyros |
Rosalyn, its a DC 20 fly check to fly at greater than 45 degrees and at 45° you fly at half speed. So you would only make it to 20 ft. You could land in the rigging, or you'd have to spend a move action to keep moving or make a DC 15 check to stay aloft.
The arrow slices across the Octopus hide and it shudders in pain. Hit!
Desula, when you stand it provokes and is a move action. the Grindylow attempts to stab you.
1d20 ⇒ 20
1d100 ⇒ 26
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Crit defense DC 20
Or 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12 +3 wounds
your bonus is Dex+DR (you have no shield or deflection)
The octopus...
will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Barely shrugs off the spell and holds the rat fast.
Desula Val'kyerin |
Crit Defense: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I blame the boat moving to much
So that vigor first, then 2 wounds for crit multiplier
GM Pyros |
I think I may not like not rolling my bonuses...
The spear dug Deep into Desula's gut sapping all his vigor and dealing 10 wounds you take the full damage reduced by DR so 2+12 apply DR 1, and you get 3 direct to wounds for the multiplier. That's 16 total after DR from vigor then wounds.
1d3 ⇒ 1
Grindylow 3 on Pyre attacks violently, bristling angrily.
trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Then bites into Pyre while he is down.
bite: 1d20 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) - 1 + 2 = 14
For 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 [ooc]magic, no DR[ooc]
As if by magic the Grindylows teeth dig into the Nagaji's armor and scales.
It then flops back and hurls his spear at Rosalyn
spear: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The throw is powerful but wide.
The previously flat-footed Grindylow also hurls his spear at Rosalyn
spear: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 but it goes totally the wrong direction.
Then it takes 5' step and bites Goandi
bite: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
For 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Once again, the teeth sink into flesh costing Vigor to escape real wounds [ooc]magic, no DR[ooc]
And trips nekare
trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
GM Pyros |
Recap.
Ros attacked the octopus, scratched it but no wound yet. She had 2 more spears tossed at her. Both miss.
Desula hit a smoke stick, but got hit anyway with a crit when he stood. He's hurt.
The octopus shook off the Calm spell Goandi used.
Then Pyre 3 damage and Goandi 4 damage got bit by magic teeth that pierced their armor
Pyre is prone and unthreatened, Goandi is threatened and Nekare is prone.
Thoyoitu, Nekare and Pyre are up. Thoyoitu, will let you ret-con taking advantage of the enemy's flatfootedness
Pyre Igneel |
Pyre Roars swinging his Axe.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 1 = 5 or not
Damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Thoyoitu Shoot at them from range or get behind them and sneak attack.
Pyre Igneel |
I missed the part where i was prone. Can i stand them make a partial charge if there is one within range? Otherwise i woulr ready for them to get closer.
Victor Rattus Adustus |
Victor tries to squirm out of the grasp of the octopus
escape artist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
"I can't...." victor murmurs, down by his failed attempt to escape
I don't remember the appropriate check to escape a grapple so I used escape artist instead. Victor failed the check so he'll take a -4 penalty on escape artist checks for the next hour.
GM Pyros |
Nekare stands and the Grindylow attacks as she does
AoO: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 2 = 17
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Then Grindylow 1 on Victor trips and bites the rat
trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Bite: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 2 = 17
For 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
He then hurls his spear at Rosalyn.
Throw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
For 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Grindylow 2 then
trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
1d100 ⇒ 79
1d100 ⇒ 77
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18
For 1d3 ⇒ 2
Need ANOTHER defense check, DC 20
Or the another 1d3 ⇒ 3+1
It then hurls it's second spear at Rosalyn
Throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
For 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Lady Rosalyn Aanya Luminuss |
Init 15 Wounds 15/24
Two hits, Armor DR 2 7-2 and 2-2, takes 9 DMG, flight checks, DC10 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Fail drops 10' now 20' away and 10' up next 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 made and stays there.
moves back 20' now 40' away 10' up, shoots back at grappling Squidsworth, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 +2 if flanked DMG 1d8 ⇒ 5
Rosalyn is hit twice, drops, pulls back and shoots at same target.
GM Pyros |
Didn't include the octopus turn
Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
For 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 no damage after DR
Victor, you are now prone and grappled, and took 4 damage after DR
Ros,
you were at 20 ft at the end of round 1, and if you are moving up, then you go half speed, both up and sideways. So you would be 20 up and 20 away. It also takes a move action to load an X-bow,
Recap.
Grindylow bit and tripped Victor and then tossed a spear at Ros.
Octopus held Victor
Grindylow failed to trip Desula, then crit-bit him for either 1 or 5 depending on check. Also speared Ros.
Victor, if you are armed, you can AoO the Grindylow 1
Lady Rosalyn Aanya Luminuss |
gm she was 20 up and 20 out, not on top of the fight or going up, but to the side of it, that was her starting place, if it take a move action to reload then she is now 10' up and 40 away. There is no shot this round as she needs to move and reaload, To my fellow players, are you getting that, "rock falls everyone dies" from this fight, because I am. We may be in big doo doo :p
Desula Val'kyerin |
Round 2: Init:11
All ready ahead of you by bleeding all over myself
Crit Defence: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
YAY
Des is reeling from the spear point and bite of these vicious little bastards. He side steps away dodging another thrust as the failed cover disperses. He runs a bit to get a better lay of the deck. He then reaches into his belt pouch again for some more colored sand and whips the cascade into all the Grindylows in front of him.
Color Spray DC Will=16
GM Pyros |
Desula had to move rather than 5' to get more than 1 enemy , so he moves out of range of the Grindylow assaulting him and the colors wash over the enemy
Grindylow2 will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Octopus will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Grindylow 4 will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
I was going to say something about how I've been rolling freakishly well on all the rolls that aren't Trip/range attacks but...
and the eyes of the Grindylows near Des and Goandi and they fall to the floor unconcious for 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 The octopus clinging to Victor also slides to the deck and lies limp.
Just need Goandi to go and he can move to attack the one fighting Pyre of Victor.
I messed up when I was doing the the template for the AoE, so i had to do a quick tweek. The only ones up are 1 and 3, the one Pyre has been fighting and the one Victor has been dealing with.
GM Pyros |
i thought he meant grindylow 1 cause the octopus is out cold.
Even with the flank, the Grindylow dodges the attack.
Round 2 group 2
Grindylow 3 moves 15' around Pyre, And Trips then bites Goandi
trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
But the hob hops over the tentacles, and dodges the teeth.
Victor, Thoyoitu, Nekare, Pyre are up.
Grindylow 4 & 2 and the Octo are down, Grindylow 1 is in a flank, and there is only one flank open at the moment for Grindylow 3
Victor is prone by Grindylow 1. Thoyoitu, pyre, and Nekare are un-engaged and standing.
Pyre Igneel |
Pyre moves to flank, with Goandi, the Grindylow that tried to trip him. Then takes a mighty swing with his ax.
Power Attack with Flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 - 1 = 14
Damage: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 3 = 17
Victor Rattus Adustus |
"i knew they told me to lay low, but this wasn't what i expected at all" Victor grumbles
he grabs his crossbow and it unfolds, bolt in place, and fires it at the remaining grindylow
"EAT FLINT YOU HORRIBLE BEASTS"
crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
that wolf is full of surprises
GM Pyros |
Victor, that attack missed looking at the posts, you should have 0 vigor and 19 wounds left. The first hit was 3 damage after DR, and the last one was 4 damage. First it hits vigor, then deals wounds.
.
Only exception is that crits and some magic deals wounds directly.
Pyre... SPLORP! Your axe carves into the Grindylow's gut and it falls to the floor bleeding out.
Only one Grindylow left up, and a flank available for Thoyoitu.
Thoyoitu "The Tenguin" Choco-ku |
Thoyoitu moves to a spot where he's as far away as possible from all enemies, while still being within 50 ft of the enemy he wants to flank, and also in the right position to flank. At least, I think I can flank with a Sling? Sling: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 But, as expected, Thoyoitu is completely useless in combat, flinging a stone right at a ship wall.
GM Pyros |
Most of his party down, the Grindylow trips Goandi
trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Then stabs the druid
spear: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
Miss
Bites Victor
bite: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 24
For 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
One damage after DR
He then backs away from goandi out of the flank.
Des, I need a DC 10 con check to for last round and this one because you are past your wound threshold (the equivalent of negative HP)
Also, Des, Ros and Goandi are up
Well, Goandi is prone, but its his turn too.
You can't flank at range, only melee
GM Pyros |
The rest of you can go.
Be warned, once colors pray unconsciousness wares off, you won't be able to coup de grace them. So time is ticking and the boss is going to try to prevent that.
Goandi, as you were prone and the Grindylow stepped away, you can stand and approach or move, but can't reach him to attack
Desula Val'kyerin |
Deal
Con Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
And I'm unconscious
Des after flinging the stream of bombastic colors, drops due to pain.
AVENGE ME!
