I would like to play but I am pretty new
New to 5th edition, or new to play by post or new to D&D altogether any edition?

I am thinking of being a lore bard warlock who is a Master of all/Sneaky/Persuasive guy focused on espionage and deception and has Mostly utility/sneak/control spells

Can't help you there. I was expecting a basic concept from someone who said they were new. Someone probably could help you make that though.
At Patrick, the way I DM, knowing the plot twists probably won't help you, you'll just know the storyline, but in AL things can be changed around, and in play by post, I simplify things, especially since this isn't pathfinder where it has to be Dmed word by word.

First of all, you don't roll, you take max, it was either take the gold or the equipment from background and class, second of all that was only legal in season 1. When season 2 started, they said you must take the starting equipment from class and background.
