Barring a FAQ or something saying otherwise, I think casting a standard-action spell occupies your hand for that whole turn. You could, IMO, two-hand swing on AoOs and such between rounds, and obviously on any round you weren't casting.

@Oiur: Heh, just stumbled over one of them and you seem to be right, it’s very much one of those debates. (Leading me to believe there’s nothing remotely close to a concensus.

And I’m really not looking to get into a rules discussion over free actions and the precise meaning of the word wielding, I’m just thrilled to have found something nifty to use with a class I thought I knew pretty well.

Yes, I think I will have to resort to that when cover and melee penalties are involved. That was not my best course of action there and I paid the price for being greedy. Thanks for reminding me to play the character and not high risk poker. I did what you explain above all through first level. I thought those days were behind me now that Haska has precise bomb, but it still is the better safer option sometimes.

I don't know what your plan is for your build, but I <3 Alchemists, and if you'll allow me to opine having just retired one, I have a few suggestions to help tip the risk/reward balance in your favor:

I highly recommend getting yourself a copy of Adventurer's Armory ($3 on Paizo right now!) and taking the Splash Weapon Mastery feat. I wish I had taken it about 5 levels before I did. The ability to adjust your miss-direction roll by +1 or -1 can cover for a lot of things, and reducing the range penalty to -1/increment is awesome. Add in that you get an extra square of splash damage and it's almost like three feats in one.

Also cool is the 12gp bombchucker (if you have a copy of Monster Codex), as it makes your range increments 30ft instead of 20, allowing you to throw at the enemies in the back, away from your frontline allies, more easily.

I did not know about either of those, the feat or the boombchucker thing. I will have to step up and get those. The Adventurers Armory...Monster Codex are not something I own currently.

Whatever is listed. If you are trying to aid someone influencing Jala, for instance, you would roll one of the skills listed in the "Influence skills" section on Jala. I'll allow the person aiding to roll any of the skills listed, not necessarily the same one that the person they are aiding is rolling.

Man, I really hate to add to the hectic ending. I have a camping trip with my son and other Boy Scouts for the next 4 days. We think there will not be cell service in the national park. Please bot me as necessary. Haska will throw bombs as he has 6 remaining. He should probably throw at squares and just hit with splashs, He can exclude up to 3 squares for splash effects. damage is 4 or DC14 for half with his mutagen he is +7 or +8 with PBS. I feel bad for asking as you are already botting so many. Sorry, and thank! I will check in Tuesday night when I return.

I’m giving it a day before meatspace claims yet another one. I’m thinking Stonelance, I’ve got a good feeling about him.

On a completely different note, we seem to be finishing up before the other society scenario I’m playing, so creating a new character may possibly have been a good choice.

I wish folks'd been able to participate more consistently (not faulting anyone, I certainly had trouble too!), 'cause when we did we had a cool group with a good mix of personalities.

No worries on the bombs—until part of the way through this one, Oiur hadn't landed any attacks in 2.5 scenarios~

On a different note, what can one spend prestige on, and do you have to tell anyone when you do?

You can spend one prestige point to acquire for free any one item worth up to 150gp, or spend two prestige on anything up to 750gp. You can only make one such purchase per chronicle sheet. My first two prestige on most characters goes to a wand of cure light wounds, because it's my opinion that every PFS character should have their own healing resources to spend, even if that means handing their wand to the cleric as asking to be beaten with it.

As for who you should tell....that's an area of table variation. At the very least you need to record it on your Inventory Tracking Sheet for that character. I hear that some GMs will ask if you made any purchases between scenarios, although I never do and I don't think I've ever actually had a GM ask me as a player.

You can also spend prestige on spellcasting services, should you need it, such as Raise Dead, Restoration, Remove Disease, etc. There's a chart on page 22 of the Guild Guide that lists what you can spend prestige on and the prices.

Yeah, it seems prohibitively expensive. I wonder if you had a character with something like 11 levels of GM credit, so you'd never had to buy anything in the mean time. But then, that only works if you GMed the different versions of the special, rather than played them. Still, there are modules and such you can play after 12th level, so I suppose you may be able to buy it and use it eventually.

I will try to gm all the bonekeep on the high tier and put the chronicle sheet on Babine and look for cost reduction boon. In fact, I know one who would be very thematic for the dagger.

Also make sure you do all of the versions of this scenario with the same character (#8-99 version B comes out in January, I think). The dagger will get cheaper and cheaper for each 8-99 chronicle you have on that character.

I think I heard they are retiring this special or at least part A. Is it replaced by B or is B the only one playable after the retiring date? Anyone know the plan?

My understanding is that the special will be used multiple times but that yeah it's got version A, B, C etc. Which definitely fits the plot snippets we saw here (yearly ceremony and what have you)

I haven't heard anything about retiring it, but it wouldn't surprise me. I know the new version comes out around January.
