PbP GameDay 3 PFS 6-02: The Silver Mount Collection (3-7) (Inactive)

Game Master Beckett

The esteemed Blakros family, famous for their museum in Absalom, (but more importantly that this is at least the 5th time they have called on the Society's help after unleashing . . . something with), receives a large shipment of artifacts from Numeria but fears that the ever-vigilant Technic League will attack to reclaim its "stolen" property. When they request the help of Pathfinders to help guard the collection, the PCs discover that the Technic League is the least of their worries.

Ok, I have gotten a map up. Unfortunately, GM Kim's Map on Roll20 seems to have been removed. I have an account, and it's just black for me, so I don't think it was you guys, the map just isn't there. So, I have posted a link to the Map HERE, and there is also a link under my GM Avatar each time I post <S.M.C.>.

I'm going to go ahead an repost Init, as I am really having a hard time following GM Kim's style, and I also have no idea just how much damage they have taken. :(

ROUND ??? <1>

Karos (-34 dying), Azeban (-8), Kyroden (-25 dying), Jory (-38),
Leil (-13 <F.H 1>), & Asami (-13)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Golem 1 () & Golem 2 ()

So, for now, I'm going to assume we are picking up at Round 1 (for now), and that you are up. When I do Init, all of the players that are in bold are up. It's okay to post out of order, and I'll sort of arrange all the actions to where they fit in. Just keep in mind that your action might be invalidated or need to slightly change if you post earlier than others that actually go before you. But, it's all within reason. :) If there are any questions, please let me know, (in the Discussion thread).

Also, just a note, when I put the little notes next to your character, that indicate current conditions, and also the total damage you have taken in this present combat. It does NOT indicate your current HP.

I have a wand of infernal healing and a bottle of smelling salts in my hands. Also, Kyroden, Jory, and me have Mage Armor active.

I'm not sure if I can, but is it possible to withdraw to outside, dragging Karos with me? He's dying and unconscious so he'll be dead within the next two rounds unless he receives healing or manages a stabilize roll. In case I can't, I have two separate plans for how to heal him with minimal risk, but getting everyone outside is really the thing to do.

Current Status:

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

You may. I assume the front door is still open, so it should be a move action to simply go outside, and I'll say a move action to grab and drag a downed player character. Someone should probably grab the weapons, too. Now, that being said, I'm trying to make a way for everyone to complete the scenario. I know something that is not obvious, but I can't tell you. I'm also not sure if the intent is to get outside and call it, or get outside and regroup and heal.

Jory realizes that no one will go deeper into the museum, so he drags his charge outside instead.

I thought the hint was to leave the robots at their post like automatons following their programming and guarding the outer room. All we need to do is find another door out and we never see the robots again. An encounter avoided is and encounter solved.

Then move and drag is what I'll do! Avoiding the encounter entirely would be best, and that's a good idea, Jory. Would they follow deeper into the building or are they stuck in that room? I'll tap my wand of infernal healing on Kyroden and Karos to get them to full health if they wish it, as well as anyone else, and my smelling salts will get them awake.

Azeban taps himself with his wand and mutters the command word, starting to repair the injuries he suffered.

Also expending one use to heal myself. It gives fast healing 1, which is 10 hp a minute each use.

Know Arcana (Requires Technologist Feat or you are Azeban) DC 19:
These oddly advanced constructs are known as Row-bahts. Unlike most constructs, these do not involve magic of any sort, but rather a strange combination of steam, lightning, gears, and maybe alchemy. Your not entirely sure. What you do know is that this particular style innately charge any metal weapons they wield with lightning, and they have some sort of strange "Nhan-Ite" infection. This seems to repair them over time, but they can also call this infection to the front once per day to nearly fully restore themselves or another similar construct to perfect condition. They have a strange sort of cunning, somewhere between an unintelligent undead and a typical human. They are able to employ tactics and utilize skills, but are also bound by a set of unknown laws that govern their actions. They are extremely resistant to nearly every damn thing, though they almost take normal damage from other electrical magics, and Adamantine can usually put them down (well into a pile of odd parts and contraptions) for a few hours. They have Hardness 10, <NOT DR>, "fast healing" 4/hour, but 1/Day 4d6 HP, treat all weapons as Shocking, and Construct Traits, but also have a special vulnerability to Critical Hits and Electrical Damage.

"But now that I think about it, I've heard of these before," Azeban says slowly. "A traveller from Numeria shared stories and I can vaguely recall them. Also, we have been informed that the museum was holding a Numerian museum exhibit and Nigel himself called them robots. Here is what I heard: The Technic League has many strange things to call on to defend their rule, whether it is to guard their buildings or to put down resistance against them. Regardless, one such marvel is what they call Row-bahts, or robots as Nigel said, and they do not use magic...."

Grabbing your fallen allies and their gear, you manage to make it out the front door without being killed, and are able to apply some emergency first aid and quick healing to pool those downed back from the clutches of death's cold, impartial embrace. It takes a good five minutes to fully heal up the party, a well as catch a breath and rearm yourselves.

Please keep track of just how much healing you are using from wands and potions, (unless you are 1st level).

Searching around, you see that Nigel has gone. A small trail of blood indicates he managed to make his way out into the city, likely to a friendly temple.

I am not going to RP you making purchases. Just let me know what you want to buy, and it should be fine.

I was going to assume that 2 people grabbed and dragged the others outside (and the robots have not followed you outside) while the other person scooped up the dropped weapons (Weapon Cords are a must).

Again, if people will trust me and take a few hints as we go, we can do this. For now, I'll go ahead and bring in Kyra, too, I just need to know who is in, do we want to call it, or what? Jory produces his wand of mage armor and hands it to the sorcerer. "Anyone who needs some magical armor, feel free to partake of my wand. I share it more readily than my sandwiches."

He closes with a quick story. "I was sent by a Venture Captain to do things that compromised my code of honor. I stayed true to my principles and suffered a negative evaluation. I moved to help the Lantern Lodge and met their leader, Amara Li, who I became good friends with. As much as I wanted to join them, I was denied my wish as they were disbanding. I have found the politics of the Society to be distasteful, and idiots like the one that sent us into the museum, can be frustrating. But many times the Pathfinder Society is the closest we have to a universal law trying to do the best they can. The system only works if member such as ourselves are there to use judgment and compassion to execute the desires of the Venture Officers."

DM Becket, looking at this group, I will play Faustus, my Asmodean Inquisitor. With Gerdur, hey probably don't need the Slayer, though he does have a rogue's trap finding ability. If you would prefer, I can still bring Trask in, but I think Faustus would be fun here..

"Pathfinders, I hear you have been having a little trouble," says the heavily armored Chelaxian as he enters the room. "Venture-Captain Dreng has sent me here to help you all out. It appears that the museum has been overrun by some clockworks? It is truly a good thing that I have The Final Arbitration with me... It is what most would call a heavy mace made out of the sky metal of which you speak. Asmodeus has also granted an enchantment upon it so that it will hit harder, and more frequently, than normal. My patron, The Prince of Contracts sees value in saving the Blakros museum... And I have had dealings with the family in the past. Oh, and my name is Armiger Faustus Sulpicious Voralius, Inquisitor of Asmodeus, Hellknight of the Order of the Gate."

Faustus is a very confident looking Chelaxian man, wearing black enameled full plate, and an iron mask typical of the Asmodean inquisitors. His clothes are black with scarlet trimmings. At first he seems quite grating, but one quickly realized that his cynical nature has been tempered by severe training, and he is, in fact, a consummate politician (or perhaps lawyer?). He assures you all that he can more than fill in for the paladin that has left, and that his combat and social skills are not lacking at all.

It is amusing that Jory had an early pathfinder mission that colored his view of Chelaxians and evil worshipping characters.

Jory is immediately suspicious of someone worshipping Asmodeus, but like most things, immediately speaks his mind.

"I had a chance to meet a divine Chelaxian early on. He had no sense of teamwork, and when the entire group was hurt, he had no ability to heal them. After borrowing my healing wand, he used over a third of the charges to heal the entire party without so much as a thank you. I would hope you have the ability to heal those that are injured."

"Actually, I cannot cast Infernal Healing, as the Prince of Darkness does not grant it to his Inquisitors. If it helps, I do have a few Binding Contracts on my person... what you would probably call tanglefoot bags. Just a little Chelish humor.

"Jory, you might want to pick up an oil or something of Abundant Ammunition... while your twenty adamantine arrows will last most fights, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a back up, eh? Also, just in case, do you have any arrows that have been blanched with Ghost Salt?

"Regardless, I would think that you would be in the second rank, having Gerdur in the front with me, using that sky-metal hammer he so prominantly is carrying.

"I plan to cast a spell right before we enter the museum, based on the difficulty you have had. The first is to enhance my defenses by shielding myself in my faith in the Prince of Darkness (Shield of Faith). Once combat has started, I will infuse The Final Arbitration in such a way as to make these constructs anethema (Bane)."

GM, from what they have told me about the "robots", do I know enough to declare Bane against them? I assume it would just be Construct Bane, or Robot Bane, but just wanted to know if I knew enough to make that leap. Thanks!"

Ill update when I get home. Honestly, for Bane, Ill need to look, as I'm not sure.

Karos, his musket borne casually over one shoulder and the mug of Cayden Cailean dangling prominently from his belt sizes up the newcomer.

Rather than comment on their obvious religious division, he considers that Cayden would concern himself with the man's heroism and actions first. Nonetheless, his voice is cold.

"I don't tend to remain in ranks during a battle," he says. "I work the flanks and look for clear shots. But I'll march in the second rank with you."

With you preparations and introductions made, you return to the front door of the Museum's entrance, and make yourselves ready to charge in.

Kicking open the doors, you see the room is again absolutely quiet. An electric tang overpowers the room’s scent of polish and wax. Walls and pillars of hewn black stone support the heavy ceiling overhead and a lattice of lamps burning with a steady, white flame. Dozens of paintings, both stunning and lackluster, line the walls just beyond the museum’s grand doors. Various statues stand against the walls, while a towering bronze figure, arm outstretched with waves parting beneath him, almost scrapes the fifteen-foot ceiling at the chamber’s far end.

Doors to the west are delicately labeled “Facilities,” while a sign over the double doors across the gallery boasts “Histories of the World.” Two sets of double-doors stand at the room’s north end, barely ajar. A banner hanging overhead proclaims “Secret Sorceries of a Savage Land,” while a more subdued sign below that reads “Grand Exhibition Hall.”

Just as you begin to set foot inside, however, two of the "statues" seem to come to life, or rather a semblance of life. Strange green and bluish electricity courses through their bodies as they stand tall, dropping their spears to a defensive position, uttering in a very mechanical voice, in unison, "Unauthorized intruders. Retreat or we will attack. You have five seconds to comply. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. Lethal force authorized."

Also, if you use any spells, items, or whatever, please link the spell and list the Save & DC, if you can. If you are posting from your phone or something at work, don't worry too much, but otherwise, it does make things easier on everyone :).

Also, I have a link to the Map at the top of the page as well as under my avatar. I have it set so that you can move your "mini" around. Please do, (or note that you have not in your posts). You can also use the drawing tools (shapes) to add in spell areas if you need. If you are not able to use Google Drawings, please let me know.

Knowing what he does, Faustus does not waste any time. (Note, he is going in with Shield of Faith up, but doesn't start with the Bane... he starts it this round. The question was more if the creature type was right.

He rushes in, drawing The Final Arbitration, and declaring construct bane.
Bane, Power Attack Adamantine +1 Mace: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 dealing: 1d8 + 2d6 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (6) + (6, 4) + 9 + 2 = 27

He looks at the Bloodrager, shaking his head. "Be careful, you fool! I hope you've brought along a good deal of healing for yourself!" To the others he says, "We need to make short work of these. Stay back if you cannot take a hit, work on supporting us if you can! Use one of those Binding Contracts on the other clockwork!"

'Have the few months I've been in the Silver Crusade actually affected me this month? At least I am out of the duplicitous machinations of Zarta Dralneen.'

Jory replies: "You wanted him up front but not to fight? It is like asking a scorpion not to sting."
Jory prepares to unload a flurry of adamantine.

I ended up not buying any tanglefoot bags--maybe we should have bought grease scrolls for you to cast on their spears.

Anyone else have Tanglefoot bags? If not, are you Delaying, Readying, or skipping?
