PbP GameDay 3 PFS 6-02: The Silver Mount Collection (3-7) (Inactive)

Game Master Beckett

The esteemed Blakros family, famous for their museum in Absalom, (but more importantly that this is at least the 5th time they have called on the Society's help after unleashing . . . something with), receives a large shipment of artifacts from Numeria but fears that the ever-vigilant Technic League will attack to reclaim its "stolen" property. When they request the help of Pathfinders to help guard the collection, the PCs discover that the Technic League is the least of their worries.

You've been called forth to Absalom's Grand Lodge, not for high adventure, but to settle accumulated paperwork with local venture captain Drangle Dreng.

"It is truly a pleasure to be back." Venture Captain Drandle Dreng takes a seat at the head of the table and leafs through the papers set before him. "Some of you might have worked with me before my... furlough. And I look forward to reminiscing, but first it seems we need to spend the next few hours tidying up the paperwork you've accumulated over the course of your adventures."

It sounds like an exciting time awaits our Pathfinders.

Play will begin either Saturday or when everyone checks in with their factions posted in the discussion page, whichever comes first. For now, you can dot or roleplay with each other as you see fit. Looking forward to this!

"I am pleased as well to see you in good health," Azeban says, bowing his head in deference as the venture captain takes his seat.

The Tien man casts an appraising eye at the amount of paper waiting for their attention and ink and feels a shiver of dread. "I will enjoy this time together."

It is immediately apparent to everyone that no one in their right mind would enjoy paperwork and Azeban is a lying lier who lies.

The fastidious dwarf with the finely crafted bow shows up munching on a pungent sandwich with the spiciest meats in a large baked roll. The wrapped sandwiches are packed away in a neat row in his pack.

He looks surprised. "Paperwork, I didn't know we were supposed to keep notes!!"

He carefully examines the paladin and points to her with a partially eaten sandwich: "Good to have a knight along."

Dreng wets his cracked lips. "The lack of keeping notes would seem to be why we're here. First, we have this extradition order from Cheliax for... Oh my. Well, I’m sure the Society can—“

A blue-grey shape crashes through the window and lands on the oak table with a metallic schwak! The tangle of wings and claws eventually stands, a gleaming silver raven, and opens its mouth.

“G—gods help me, Dreng, I’m dying,” a distant male voice sputters from the bird. “Men in black—came for… Numeria exhibits. It’s Nigel... I’ve been shot! You owe me, you old bastard!”

Dreng’s lips crack and pop as they tighten. “Well… Sounds like you lot need to head to the Wise District. That sounds like Nigel Aldain, so go to the Blakros Museum. If he lives through the night, I might be able to make something of this—” he waves a hand over the mound of parchment, “disappear.”

Dreng obviously is prodding you to move along as quickly as possible, given the urgency, but he can likely answer a few of your questions before you depart. Afterall, an informed Pathfinder is a... well, a pathfinder that will likely stay alive just a bit longer.

Likewise, someone with the right skills might already know some details about the Blakros Museum, its curator, and its history. (Knowledge (local) or Knowledge (nobility) rolls)

Karos had heard of the Blackros Museum, of course. What Pathfinder hadn't? But the place was usually mentioned with an exasperated roll of the eyes. How was it, he wondered, that a place which so repeatedly had to be rescued by the Society could yet claim that the Society was in its debt?

Of course, Aldain hadn't claimed that, had he? It was Dreng who owed the curator. Oh well, from the point of view of low-ranking members like himself, Karos knew the two were functionally the same.

What, after all, did it matter? Karos had joined the Pathfinders in order to do deeds worthy of his patron, and here was another opportunity for glory, or at least mayhem with a chance of death. Also functionally the same, so far as Karos could see.

"I'm ready," he said, packing away his unedited journals.

"Priorities, venture captain?" Azeban says, torn between the safe tedium of paperwork or the more exciting danger of this case. It was clearly an order, however, albeit one with benefits. "I assume we should prioritize Sir Aldain's safety followed by investigation of the situation. Should we report back immediately after finding out as much as we can or act on our own discretion regarding the matter?"

“Nigel is a… a friend. He curates the Blakros Museum. A curious sort, but not the kind of man to claim he’s dying unless someone’s actually stuck him. He’s a former member of the Society and gives us special access to research and artifacts when it suits him. Losing him would be a setback."

Looks like everyone's ready, then!

As you leave the lodge, another Pathfinder almost clumsily stumbles into you, but looking into your faces apologizes and mumbles something about factions before quietly walking off.

The trip to the museum grounds is quite uneventful. Quiet, peaceful even.

The dark, blocky architecture of the Blakros Museum squats stubbornly between the more impressive government buildings of the Wise Quarter. One of the older buildings in Absalom, it remains unchanged and lacks the ornamentation of its newer neighbors. Imposing statues of armored men flank the entrance ahead, one partially obscured by a half fallen banner reading “Grand New Exhibition!” A blue flicker intermittently tints the dark windows, casting long, dull shadows over the groomed gardens and fountain. A crumpled figure in bloodstained robes lies against the fountain’s edge.

The garden is unlit, but the illumination from the museum's windows provide's dim light.

As Jory approaches under the cover of darkness, Azeban starts chanting in a clear voice, searching for magical auras (and finding none), and the figure turns to him and waves weakly, stammering, “Keep your heads down fools! They could be anywhere!”

“Are you Pathfinders? Did Dreng send you? It was... it was... it was in no way my fault! We took every precaution! Tomorrow was going to be such an event, unveiling the new museum, and absolutely nothing could go wrong! I personally inspected every artifact that came in, as both a scholar and a wizard. Everything was harmless as a newborn lamb! And anything the least bit suspicious went right into the lockbox! We even made sure those bizarre “robots” of theirs were neutralized!"

After this exertion, the man, obviously Nigel Aldain, starts to faint.

Now this isn't my first circus, so someone make sure he is stable and we go in. I want to find this lockbox, but I am sure we will be fighting something, so be alert."

He hands his wand of mage armor to Azeban. "Keep this for now. Use it on me, yourself, and even that elfling. Make sure you repeat every hour." Jory points to Kyroden--it is obvious he harbors a mistrust of elves.

He squints at the statues. "I've been attacked by statues before. Don't assume they are inanimate."

Jory is wary of elfs. He doesn't know if mentioning he carries arrows of elfbane is a good idea.

Hehe, I think Asami meant Nigel by Jori... but it's not as funny!

The shouting and jostling about is enough to waken the man back from his "faint". He turns up to the group, resting comfortably in Kyroden's arms, “It was those vile cultists! They struck in the night like cowards! Oh, Abadar preserve my poor staff! None of us know how to fight. I went to find help and those Numerian monsters shot me in the back! I blacked out. Unless otherwise stated, the Blakros Museum features 15-foot-high ceilings, and features normal illumnation at night thanks to dozens of continual flame spells suspended in hanging braziers.

As you enter, an electric tang overpowers the room's scent of polish and wax. Walls and pillars of hewn black stone support the heavy ceiling overhead and a lattice of lamps burning with a steady, white flame. Dozens of paintings, both stunning and lackluster, line the walls just beyond the museum's grand doors. Various statues stand against the walls, while a towering bronze figure, arm outstretched with waves parting beneath him, almost scrapes the fifteen-foot ceiling at the chamber's far end.

Doors to the west are delicated labeled "Facilities," while a sign over the double doors across the gallery boasts "Histories of the World." Two sets of double-doors stand at the room's north end, barely ajar. A banner hanging overhead proclaims "Secret Sorceries of a Savage Land," while a more subdued sign below that reads "Grand Exhibition Hall."

Armor bonus does help with flat-foot, but not touch. As far as I know, though, only Jory, Kyroden, and yourself were hit with the wand of mage armor. And you are correct, armor bonus from mage armor does not stack with ordinary armor. Everyone else would've received little to no benefits from it. I'm also going off of the quick references since I can't remember who has what buffs up. I know who has the mage armor now, but next week...? The buffs that last for the duration of a combat I'll track (like shield, bless, or fast healing), but anything that lasts for hours it's best to track in the quick reference bar for ease of mind, since it's doubtful the scenario will be over before the buffs wear out.

the mutagen will gives me a +4 to my STR and -2 to my INT for the next 20 minutes a +2 to my AC. Which makes it 17 now if I am correct.

Asami cries out in pain as the lightning spears into her, backing off a step (5 Foot), and triggering her Lay of Hands ability, before taking the Total Defence action.

Lay on Hands: 1d6 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 + 1 = 8

AC is now 18, and I should be on 12 health

Worth noting that as an aasimar, I have electric resistance 5. Was that factored into the damage I took (or is having electric resistance even relevant)? If I end up taking 5 less damage, I'd feel comfortable enough about using my standard to attack this thing and then 5 foot away, but if Electric resistance doesn't apply then I'll stick to Total Defence.

He points to the construct he is shooting at. "Focus fire on that one. And I did warn you these statue could attack!"

I wish I bought those expensive arrows made from the meteorite the dwarf expert fletcher was selling.

Jory doesn't provoke to fire, 4/6 perfect shots and 9/10 ki left

@Kyroden - The reason you don't see anything on the map is because this is the first time you've logged into the Roll20 map, even though I've asked everyone to do so multiple times. so you don't have a token with sight attached to it. That's why you can't see anything. Now that you have control of a token (assuming you're Ash on Roll20, you'll notice that you're nowhere near a construct, so would need to reevaluate your actions, as it would take a move action to get to a construct, a standard to attack, leaving you with either a standard or a move left over.

@Asami - Nope, it definitely wasn't factored in because your quick reference says that you're a male human... Easy enough fix! So you still have your standard and move actions if you wish.

Leil Knowledge (engineering):
These are gearsman robots, intelligent constructs that hail from the far lands of Numeria.

Leil lashes out with her whip(?) in an attempt to trip the brass colored construct attacking her, but is unable to do much more than scratch it's paint job. Asami lays her hands on her side, a bright flash stemming the blood flow as she considers how to tackle this new foe.

Jory challenges the construct, firing a massive amount of arrows into the construct. Half of them go flying off the creatures metallic armor, the rest barely puncture it's armor plating.

Asami steps back, putting distance between herself and the deadly construct, placing her glaive between them and waving it menacingly in it's direction, but unable to connect solidly with it. Meanwhile, Kyroden pulls out a flask and rushes forth with a mace, swinging it at the construct and connecting, but his weapon bounces harmlessly off the constructs armored plating.

That's two moves and a standard for Kyroden. He hasn't drunk his mutagen yet. I'm going with these actions since you haven't said what the different actions were and you made the attack roll.

Karos stands in the back, unsure what to do as he watches his fellow Pathfinders nearly fall in quick succession in a matter of seconds.

The construct on Leil bears down on her, following up with another thrust as the construct next to Jory turns it's attention to the archer and pierces the dwarf's side with it's electrified weapon.

Damage to Leil: 1d8 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + (5) = 13
Damage to Jory: 1d8 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 7 + (4) = 18

Party's up! Critters will act again on Saturday. Leil's auto-stabilized because of the fast healing, so no need for a stabilization check.
