GM Kim |
@Jory - I've enlarged the map and moved you back 10' (due to the two 5' moves). You're fine attacking the one you are now, but the other has total cover from Jory right now. The one you're attacking will probably soon enough, too, if you keep backing up.
@Karos - I can do that, yes, but I'm trying to keep a fast pace going, just like I said in the recruitment thread. A lot of GM's want a post a day, minimum. I just want one every two or three days. And I don't think there's been a single round that's occurred completely over a weekend. Most rounds have had 2-3 days to post their actions, with it being longer if it's over a weekend (like this round). You're not losing your turns because you're not posting on the weekends, you're losing your turns because you're not posting. Like this round, it's been going on since Saturday evening, two days, still a day left, but you haven't posted your action yet...
@Azeban - I didn't want to come out and say that they made their saves when I said that they were ignoring the shadow demon, but you could probably make a good bet that they did. If you want to redo your action, I'll allow it! Otherwise, fog/wall illusions work just as their counterparts do, with the exception that they're easier to "interact" with.
@Asami - fair enough! But saying that Asami's moving back would speed things up if everyone were posting actions so I wouldn't have to wait until the posted deadline. But since that's not happening, completely understandable. I think we can safely assume that Asami's skedaddled by now. I think she can take the run action for 80' each round at this point (I'd have to look up her armor, and that's too much effort... I think she's wearing medium armor).
Jory fires another volley of arrows at the other construct, managing to stick two well placed arrows into the grooves between the armored plating as Leil continues to retreat from the disastrous ambush.

I guessed when they ignored the demon last round! But I can't really think of anything effective to do, and trying to rescue Kyroden involves getting up close and risking another casualty. Still, here's a last ditch effort.
Azeban realizes his illusion has lost effect and stops his efforts in maintaining it. Though still ready to flee, he decides to at least attempt to aid the situation of those still inside, moving to Kyroden's side and awakening him with the smelling salts still held in his hand.
Azeban will stop concentrating on the illusion, move to Kyroden's side, and then use smelling salts on him. It's still in his hand since from when he took it out.

Addressed in PM to GM. Short Version: I can't see the map and don't know where anything is. I'll try to post tonight. I'm available to -post- a lot.
Karos Valdian |
Karos considers picking up Kyroden as he had Leil, but realizes he won't survive the attempt. Instead, he hastens out the door.
This will draw an AoO from one construct.
GM Kim |
As Karos begins to withdraw towards the door, the southernmost construct jabs him in the side with its spear, knocking the inquisitor unconscious as well. Azeban moves up with his smelling salts, and wafts them under the nose of Kyroden, snapping him awake, where he continues to bleed to death on the cold marble floor.

Ugh. I hate doing that... The party's up. The critters will go again on Friday. I'm going to assume that Asami's fled the grounds by now. Looks like Jory's still trying to attack, but he can only attack the one who didn't heal itself this round as the other is behind full cover. I'm guessing Leil's taking off as well? Not sure what Kyroden's going to do in his current situation, either. This first fight is a mess.

If they are going to stay under cover, I will be moving back 40' a round and readying an attack. We may be able to fast forward some. If the robots are not following, Jory is either running to town if he can rally the survivors or back to their vc.
Kyroden Hawkstorm |
Kyroden will move his hands to jacket and pull out his wand of CLW. He then very carefully use is it on Karos. He looks at Azeban body and swears he will get the man back from dead somehow.

As Karos slips further into death, Kyroden pulls out his wand and stabilizes his fellow Pathfinder. Needing to speak the command word to activate the wand, however, has attracted the constructs attention...

Party's up. Reason construct went after Kyroden is because he attracted attention back to himself with the wand activation. You did stabilize Karos, though, for what that's worth! Critters will act on Wednesday. The only one with eyes on either of the constructs is Leil, and she can only see the one that just jabbed Kyroden. Kyroden's Stabilization Check v DC 22: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Okay, we have two characters dead (Azeban and Kyroden), and Karos is stable but unconscious in the entry hall. Everyone else (Asami, Jory, and Leil) are back at the lodge.
Would Azeban and/or Kyroden like to use PP or gold to purchase some services to bring them back to life? Karos could also spend 5 PP to get a rescue team to recover his stable body and bring it back, as well. Healing you up at that point should be a snap if anyone has the ability.
Jory Redcap |
Jory looks to buy 12 durable, adamantine arrows and enough healing potions to recover from his wounds and head back to rescue the fallen. He does not think anyone here can use his wand of healing.
With healing, adamantine arrows, and a few helpers, Jory should be able to defeat the constructs and rescue all the fallen.
GM Kim |
Back at the lodge, Jory goes into preparations for the upcoming battle.
You're correct about the wand. With Asami's Warrior of the Light archetype, she loses her spell-casting ability. So unless somebody has UMD, it's just a fragile stick right now. If Karos spends the 5 PP to have his body recovered and then some gold or PP to get healed, he could use the wand.
@Jory - just let me know how much you spend (and on which ITS#) in the Discussion tab so I can alter your chronicle accordingly.
It looks like Jory's set on going back into the fight. What about Asami and Leil?
Asami Taran |
I don't mind going back in and helping our former companions, but as far as pressing on and trying to go further in...not going to happen. We almost TPKed on the first encounter, there could be more Gearsman inside, and prolly a BBEG (If its a CR 6 encounter to start, I couldn't imagine what the final fight would be like) left inside. We just don't have the resources to complete the rest of the scenario.
GM Kim |
Healed, stocked up, and resupplied, the three remaining Pathfinders return to the museum a couple of hours later that same night. Standing outside in the cool air, you find that the doors remain closed.
Leil |
Concur on this being a rescue/recovery mission only at this point. I have a +5 ranged touch, so hopefully we can make a tanglefoot land.
“OK, Jory, you're tactical lead right now ... what's the plan? We could sneak up and peek inside to see what the situation is, or we can kick in the doors. Either way, we should be careful. It's no use piling more bodies on the floor.”
Jory Redcap |
Jory holds his arrows at the ready is he quietly approaches the doors. He is ready to open them as quietly as possible.
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Take 20 on perception for 33 total
Jory had given his first bow and four adamantine arrows to his new friend, and a paladin friend at that.
The plan was to quietly get the doors open or have the others in front, as Jory could shoot into combat easily. Tanglefoot bags could do wonders.
9 ki and 4 perfect shots left
GM Kim |
Jory opens the doors, which swing open with a loud scraping, caused by some pebbles kicked indiscriminately into the door's path right by the dwarf's foot right before opening the doors.
Leil: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
You see the two constructs standing in their original spots, trying to blend in and look to be part of the surrounding artwork. They come to life as the doors open, ready to finish what they started.

If I wasn't by the door, put me back a square and subtract one from to hit and damage for point blank shot not being in effect. Opening the door, I thought it put me at the threshold.
Jory has his adamantine, durable arrows ready and begins to fire, lining up a perfect shot and three quick follow up shots.
Perfect shot on arrow1, deadly aim on all arrows ki for extra attack
Jory targets the construct to the left (1) and fires until it is down.
arrow 1 perfect shot/reroll/damage: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 311d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 251d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

arrow 4/damage: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 221d8 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
With three adamantine arrows hitting the constructs, Jory hopes it is enough to do the job.
GM Kim |
Bursting into the room, Leil throws the tanglefoot bag which quickly cements the eastern construct to the floor. Asami and Jory follow shortly after firing off a volley of arrows, lodging two deep into the western construct.
They were flat-footed, so easier to hit, but not by much.
Tanglefoot duration: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 rounds
Sparks of electricity flare from their weapons as they activate completely. The western one, obviously heavily damaged now, dims briefly as the metal plating restitches itself around the arrows, then takes a step towards the bow wielding duo. The eastern one breaks free from the gooey mess with ease, but appears to still be moving rather slowly. It moves rather clumsily towards Leil after bursting from the tanglefoot residue.
Party's up! Critters will act again on Saturday.

Im going to reset to this point, which is at the top of the page, with the exception that Azeban just took 8 damage, but is not dead. From what it looks like, 1 player is outside, and 5 player are still inside that first room (entry way). Of those 5, 2 are down and dying, while three are up. I highly suggest grabbing the bodies of your buddies and running inside the museum. That will leave us with a party of living characters, but ones that need to find away to get Asami back.
Asami Taran |
Slightly confused as to what is happening, but I'm not really looking forward to fighting those constructs again since none of us can actually bypass hardness with the exception of Jory who (if we reset), doesn't have Adamantine Arrows. I just don't know how a Round 2, would change things, since we still lack the ability to hurt them.
