Hiko |
Wiping the drool off her face Hiko stands back up. "Sounds like a good idea, but we may want to ensure this place is clear of other abominations that can escape from here first."
GM.Silbeg |
Dalva Stabilize DC19: 1d20 ⇒ 12
heal: Eolowyn: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Eolowyn, after you fail your first heal to stabilize check, you realize that if someone doesn't do something on the next round, she will die.
I am going to rule that Hyrgan actually does the first CLW on Hiko, bringing her to staggered.
It just hit me, I never realized that Inflict Wounds are not on the Bard's list, even though Cures are! Interesting.
Eolowyn |
Eolowyn pokes Dalva with her wand, hoping that she will not regain her consciousness again
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Hiko |
Then Hiko will reach over, stabilize the poor pathfinder and then collapse again... Sorry about the wand use. Dang ninja'd. Hiko can heal for 5 at most on creatures with less than 0 HP. Lets try to sve the limited use wand.
Hiko jilts back into conciousness, wipes the accumulated drool off her face, and looks over at the now dying Dalva. After a second to get her bearing she invokes a short chant to the Master of Masters and heals the disfigured woman. Before collapsing into a bleeding drooling heap again.
Rebuke Death: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM.Silbeg |
I'll say that Hiko got the Rebuke Death in first (since Eolowyn was doing other things at the same time), and you save the charge.
As you are all healing up, Ambrus Valsin arrives with several additional agents, explaining that he was able to conclude his part of the festivities and hurry over. He examines Dalva (and actually gives you her name), and then authorizes one of the agents to cast remove disease and then remove curse when it appears that the first didn't work to clear the disease on her. The spell combination appears to cure Dalva for now, and she relays her recent studies, the sudden outbreak of madness in the patients, and her own concerns about how quickly her own infection progressed.
She turns herself over to Ambrus to be quarantined for further observation and study, citing that the magical healing she just received may not have been sufficient. She also recommends that the PCs, Valsin, and the other agents submit to an examination by other Society alchemists to ensure that they do not carry and spread the disease further. Were this a weapon Bonekeep’s master had intended to use against Absalom, Dalva speculates, the city is fortunate that he never succeeded in unleashing it.
After spending an hour, Society researchers confirm that any PCs who did not contract tumor infestation are cleared to leave quarantine. They detain any infected PC with Valsin’s blessing, though a PC can participate in the rest of the adventure if he is cured by a spell like remove disease. In thanks for the PCs’ service, Ambrus Valsin offers to pay for the first such spell cast on a PC. He then addresses all of the agents.
"In the past three years, the Pathfinder Society has embarked on as many significant expeditions. We’re about to claim the dwarven sky citadel Jormurdun as our own—a major accomplishment. As you can see, though, these discoveries come at a cost in mortal life, and I need agents who are sharp enough to get the job done, get out alive, and pull out any Pathfinders who aren’t as lucky or capable. Keep up the good work, and you’ll go far.
"Explore, report, and cooperate," Valsin quotes, as he gives an uncharacteristic, honest smile.
Remove Disease (Hiko): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Remove Disease (Eolowyn): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Remove Disease (Hyrgan): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Eolowyn and Hyrgan are cured, but Hiko is still affected by the disease. Hiko is not able to continue adventuring until cured.
FYI: Remove Disease costs 150 gp, or 1pp per casting. Note that the party can pool money to pay for the GP cost of the spellcasting service, but not for the PP cost. Also, if Hiko has a reroll (shirt or folio), she may use it for the Remove Disease that Valsin paid for, if she wishes.
Primary Success: Subdue or kill Dalva
Secondary Success: Subdue Dalva Aiger without killing her.
Grand Lodge members succeeded in both conditions! Good job!
Eolowyn |
Eolowyn has the spirit of the shadowlodge boon, increasing her contribution to spell casting to heal with 20%. Link to boon.
If the 5 of us each contribute 28.85 gp we have the 150 gp per casting.
GM, I think the easiest way to handle this is if you make the rolls and include a note on the chronicles stating what we contributed, Eolowyn has 730 GP so can easily lend the money to people that don't have the money available.
Everyone ok with this?
"Thank you Captain" Eolowyn answers before she turns to her companions "It isn't fair that Hiko has to stay here because of the disease. She contributed as much as we all did to this exploration, leaving her is not in the spirit of cooperation. I will try to find a cleric that is willing to heal her with a spell. Will you contribute in the costs for spellcasting?"
Balon |
Balon is willing to put in some gold to help Hiko cure her disease. He can also spend a few uses of channel energy on himself to remove the ability score damage he currently has, thanks to the Disease variant channeling ability (just because he can).
Can you give me the specifics about the disease that Balon contracted and subsequently cured from himself? He will now be an asymptomatic carrier of the disease, so I need to know the save DCs and effects, etc. :)
-Hyrgan- |
Hyrgan happily thanks whoever was able to cure him.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly gladly pitches in the pool of funds to get folks cured.
"Nobody deserves that fate, and what self respecting Pathfinder would not do the same? Right Whiskers?"
Hiko |
Wow. Thank-you for the support. She does not have a re-roll, sadly. Hiko can pay for a third casting by herself if needed. The fourth can use prestige. After that she will just wait out the disease. She also would love to pick up a wand of cure light wounds.
Hiko thanks the Venture-Captain for his generosity, as well as the much more experienced cleric, even though at the end of the whole endeavor she still doesn't feel better.
"Uh, thank-you for your support...Let's find a cleric who can help with this disease. And a wand shop while we are at it.
GM.Silbeg |
You are easily able to find clerics that can help you.
remove disease: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
remove disease: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
It takes two more castings to cure Hiko of the stubborn disease. This costs each player 57.7gp, if all are pitching in, based on Eolowyn's calculations.
Balon, look up Hungry Flesh on the PRD, that will have the disease.
What is your next step? Many in the party are still down Con and Cha.
-Hyrgan- |
Hyrgan also pays the clerics to restore his health and looks. Hyrgan will pay for two lesser restoration spells for a total of 120 gp.
Lesser Restoration: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Eolowyn |
Eolowyn does not pay for a restoration, letting the ability damage heal over time.
Can we attent both the commemorative Service (Evening, Day 1) and the dinner at the Hero's Welcome or do they happen at the same time?
"Good to have you back with us Hiko. Let's get a change of clothes, take a short rest and then we should be off to the Hero's Welcome to see Major Maldris"
Eolowyn puts her efficient quiver in her pathfinder's pouch, stows her armor, buckler and sword in her haversack and changes her adventurer's outfit in a beautifull dress. She puts on matching jewelry and joins her fellow pathfinders again. Her pouch is on her hip and she carries her haversack in her hands.
"I know that my haversack is a detractor here, but I will leave it in the corner of the room. I feel naked as it is, and without my stuff nearby it would be even worse"
GM.Silbeg |
they happen at the same time. If everyone (or at least a majority of you) is cool wi that, we will move forward.
Balon |
Balon will offer to heal a few points of ability damage if others are still hurting. He can use a single channel energy to fix one point of damage to each ability on a single person at a time. Hyrgan, do you still have ability damage currently?
-Hyrgan- |
I do not Balon.
Hyrgan admires Eolowyn's dress. "Wow, you sure do clean up nice...Not that you didn't look good before but...That's a nice dress." Hyrgan finishes lamely.
GM.Silbeg |
The team arrives at the Hero's Welcome and is greeted by Major Colson Maldris. He leads a toast to the late representative, and thoughout, he seems a bit distracted.
Feel free to add in RP posting, greeting Maldris, etc. We'll hold off moving the act forward until you've had your chances to roleplay... just making sure we get this in (some things are a little more awkward with PbP)
During the meal, a courier arrives and hands Maldris a sealed letter from the People's Council. His expression changes to one of intense seriousness. He taps the letter on the table a few times, as if deciding whether to open it, then he breaks the seal and reads silently to himself. He then looks to the party, and says,
"I hold in my hands a warrant for the arrest of none other than Halmont Warrith, the Andoran Envoy of Foreign Cultural Affairs. I along with several high-ranking members of the People’s Council have reason to believe the envoy guilty of embezzling funds and accepting bribes to establish safehouses for foreign spies in Andoran—all secretly funded by our own exiled nobility so that they might recapture their political power and influence. Furthermore, he’s been turning around and selecting his own candidates — many connected to exiled Andoran nobility — who he believes will operate under the “old rules,” and treat
Andoran’s ex-nobility as they were prior to the revolution. In this endeavor, Halmont is quickly becoming a very wealthy and influential man.
"Halmont’s ties run much deeper than perhaps even he realizes, and I suspect that other far more important members within the Council are using Halmont as a scapegoat. At the very least, I am certain Halmont has allies within the Council who would have warned him the second someone issued the warrant. His cronies will be keeping an eye out for me, making it next to impossible for me to approach without him fleeing." He glares at his clenched fist in silent frustration before looking up.
"Perhaps you can help by making this arrest for me. I can lure away some of his allies by traveling away from his residence, and you could then approach without scaring him off. Take the warrant, go to Halmont’s flat, and arrest him, but don’t forget to gather any evidence you can. He’s a true coward, so hopefully he’ll come peacefully. Remember, I need proof that Halmont’s allies have connections to older Andoran noble families ousted during the revolution in order to make our accusations stick."
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly will seek out the Major and try to shake his hand or something.
Not sure if the factions still have the old names or the new ones at this point. I suspect they change at the end, so disregard below if this is not yet known.
"Major Maldris, it is an honor to meet you, sir! I have heard so much about you and you were part of the reason I decided to join the Andoran...
I mean Liberty's...I mean...ok, well whichever the name, it is still the best cause in all of Golarion! We will do our best, sir!"
GM.Silbeg |
Major Maldris returns Wembley's handshake firmly. "Wembly Templeton, you have always given your best, as has your friend... you call him Whiskers, I believe. The people of Andoran can ask no more of you than you have volunteered to give, and they are grateful. Keep up the good luck, my small friend!"
Balon |
"It is an honor to meet you, sir. I am Balon, a humble servant of the Pallid Princess and the Pathfinder Society. I look forward to working with you."
After hearing the explanation:
"An arrest, eh? I must admit, our group is more accustomed to causing more... permanent... ends to those we are charged to find, but I believe we can make this happen for you. I'm sure in doing so, we will find the proof you need. What do you expect of his bodyguards? Are there any specific preparations we could make for dealing with them?"
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly is eager to start, and hopefully earn some street cred with his boss, Major Maldris.
"So team, let's arrest this brigand and get back to the party. When and where do we start?"
Hiko |
Having changed into a fresh, dry outfit, Hiko joins her comrades at the dinner event. She sadly knows very few of the high level functionaries and for the most part joins Eolowyn in the corner, waiting for the dinner to actually start.
After hearing the call for help, Hiko does pipe up, "Hereditary nobility has never appealed, and it sounds as though this man has been flouting many of the written and social laws of your country... I would be glad to assist in his arrest."
GM.Silbeg |
With that, the party heads out to find Halmont's apartments in the Foreign Quarter. Major Colson's directions are clear, and you easily find it. It is a semi-attached two story brick building that shares a foundation with its neighbor to the northeast. There are entrances to the north and east. All the curtains are drawn.
Perception: Balon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Perception: Eolowyn: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Perception: Hiko: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Perception: Hyrgan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Perception: Wembly: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Perception: Whiskers: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Please describe how you are going to approach the building.
Balon |
Just to be sure, the rooms to the top-right of the map are the upper floor, above the stuff to the bottom-left of the map, correct?
Balon |
Balon would likely walk right up to the front door and knock, though he will defer to others if they have a more sneaky plan.
GM.Silbeg |
Just put your "minis" where you want to be, after describing what you are doing
Eolowyn |
Apologies for the absence, I was posting this morning, unfortunately it got lost due to bad connection
Eolowyn blushes when Hygram complements her on her dress, unsure how to react. Later when Major Maldris asks for her help she quickly stands up
"Off course Major, happy to assist the cause for liberty and freedom"
Outside she quickly puts on her armor and shoulders her backpack. Her dress disappeared when she removed two sleeves from her wrists, revealing a regular explorer's outfit.
At the flats she puts her hand on Balon's shoulder. "Wait a second, let me scout ahead"
She takes out a grappling arrow, attaches it to her rope and shoots it on the roof. She first tries out the rope and then quickly climbs up. On the roof she moves about silently and tries to get a feel for the situation.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Not sure where I should place her, I assume you will roll stealth (+12) & perception if/when needed
-Hyrgan- |
Hyrgan whispers "I hope the person in the room with the candle there doesn't notice us. Can you guys see it?" He then points at the window that has the candlelight. "Maybe a couple of us should stay at each door just in case he tries to run? And if there is an emergency we can all bust in."
GM.Silbeg |
Eolowyn, please put yourself on the map. Where are you shooting from, and where on the roof did you want to be? Just put yourself on the second story where you want to be. Also, could you put the red circle-x where you are starting from? Also, remember, that the arrow can be heard when it hits and grapples.
Before we go further, where is everyone else going to be when she does this? If on the map, please place yourselves now. Note any other actions you are taking by posting, and if you are trying to be careful/stealthy on your approach.
Eolowyn |
Done, the idea is that she is on the roof right above the place from where she shot the arrow
GM.Silbeg |
Done, the idea is that she is on the roof right above the place from where she shot the arrow
Cool... got it.
Going to give 24 hours for people to decide where they want to be. Please chime in ASAP. If you are stealthing, go ahead and make your rolls.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 221d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Wembly Templeton |
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
This is the same day and within hours of the fight with the blobs, or did a day pass for spells etc? I am assuming same day.
Wembly rides forward on Whiskers to get closer to the doorway.
He pats the green cat and whispers....
"Steady Whiskers. No telling where this person could pop out. Shhh"
Wembly stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Whiskers stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
There goes all my good rolls for the day :(
-Hyrgan- |
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
Hyrgan followed Eolowyn around the building and will stand watch at the base of her rope, near the rear doors, in case Halmont tries to run out the back door.
Hiko |
Uhh sadly her rope is on the other side of the building... I think.
Hiko thinks about joining Hyrgan at the rear doors but decides to cover the final doorway. She tries to hide herself near the wall and behind where the door would swing open.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Wait, are there rear doors or just the east door? The description of the building only mentions the two door ways...
-Hyrgan- |
I'm only judging about where the red x is. If that is not where the rope is, GM or Eolowyn can feel free to move my avatar to where it really is.
GM.Silbeg |
The Red X is on the north side, where Eolowyn went up. There are doors on three sides of the building. Hiko, given that Hyrgan was planning on being below Eolowyn, do you still want to be alone at the eastern door? I assume you are all trying to reach these points at the same time... timed just after Eolowyn reaches the top and gives you a thumbs up, or something?
Balon |
Balon will still head toward the front doors, hoping to distract the target with a "frontal assault" while his allies enter from several directions.
GM.Silbeg |
The team's timing is supurb, as they all end up at their designated locations at the same time.
Perception: Balon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Perception: Eolowyn: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Perception: Hiko: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Perception: Hyrgan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Perception: Wembly: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Perception: Whiskers: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
When Eolowyn reaches the roof, Eolowyn, Hiko, and Hyrgan hear the sound of a dog barking in the second floor, under the ranger.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly moves up to the door and looks at Balon with a shrug.
Perc : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
He moves to try to look at the door for any obvious traps and if none, tries to open the front door.
Hiko |
Sorry about the late response, but Hiko is just fine with staying on her side of the building. Yay for greater mobility.
Hiko listens at the door, and, if she doesn't hear anything, tries to cautiously open the door and peer into the building.
She'd love to take 10 (for 21) on the perception checks.
Eolowyn |
Eolowyn looks around on the roof to see if there is any entrance into the building.
If there is she signals down that the others should come up, otherwise she moves down a bit and tries to look through the window that she passed on her way up.
Balon |
Balon knocks loudly on the door, trying to distract the occupant from his allies' movements, and waits a few seconds, listening for footsteps moving toward him.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
GM Silbeg |
Eolowyn searches the roof for an entrance, but finds none.
Balon knocks on the door, but hears no footsteps coming his way.
Hiko tries the door, but determines that it is locked. At the same time, Wembly tries the other door, and also finds that it is locked.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly looks at Balon.
"Guess nobody is home. Shall we knock again, Balon, or just knock it in? Major Maldris will not be happy if we do not get our man."
Eolowyn |
Eolowyn climbs down a bit and tries to look through the window that is just beside her rope.
