Karpad

A horror and investigation adventure for 4th-level characters

The sleepy town of Karpad in shadow-haunted Nidal has long been overseen by the Boroi family, and until a few weeks ago, the citizens under Baron Stepan Boroi's rule have lived uneventful lives of relative peace. Recently, however, the outbreak of a virulent and fatal disease and a number of mysterious disappearances have left the people of Karpad paranoid and fearful. Even Baron Stepan has been acting strangely, and now the tenuous balance of racial tensions between Karpad's human and fetchling populations stands on the verge of collapsing into total anarchy. Can the PCs uncover the root of Karpad's problems and put an end to the deadly virus, the terrifying disappearances, and the miasma of fear and distrust that threatens to overwhelm the region?

This game is part of the Official Pathfinder Society PbP Game Day. For more information please follow the link here here.

The official start date of the PbP Game Day (and hence for this module) is on April 5th, 2014.

The PbP Game Day end date is July 5th, 2014.

You can learn more about Pathfinder Society here and download the free Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play here.

If you have never played PFS before, this event is not for you. Look for a game offered to level 1 characters and review the Guide linked above for character creation rules. Good luck!

This is a level four module (as opposed to a scenario), which means it is worth 3 XP and 4 PP. That also means that it is significantly longer than a scenario and in order to complete the module with the Game Day time limits we need to keep moving at a decent pace. Players are expected to post at least once a day and I will do my best to update as quickly as possible.

Please post below if you are interested. I will choose the first six players who provide stats either in their profile or with a link to their character sheet.

Thanks everyone and have a great Game Day!

Liberty's Edge

I'm in! If the group needs a rogue I can also bring Quiven.

Liberty's Edge

Oh no! Rycky again! ;)

Terrill would love to join this game, and I expect we'll be done with My Enemy's Enemy on time, no?

One question - your thread title says it's for tier 3-5, your intro text says it's for 4th level adventurers? Do we have to be exactly 4th level? That's a new one on me.

Liberty's Edge

I think I may like to bring in Linnea for this, I'm guessing we'll finish Glories of the Past pt. 1 before 4/5.

Sovereign Court

I'd definitely like to be a part of this!

@Rycky: Bizzle is always welcome! Or Quiven, either one!

@Terrill: modules are written for one specific level but in PFS you can play for credit within one level of that. So it was written for fourth level, which means you can play characters of level 3-5. Also, yes, My Enemy's Enemy should be done by then so Terrill will be good to go.

@Linnea: Yep, your in. We'll finish Part I definitely. If you're sticking around for Part II though I doubt we'll finish Part II before this starts.

@Hiram: Looks good! You're in.

That looks like four to me so I can take two more.

Oh man - decisions. Maybe I do want Linnea to continue on with Glories...pt. 2.

I've got a rogue, Wilhelm, that may be fun for this as well - but he's currently in a scenario that is progressing a little more slowly than I would like and I don't know if he'll be available.

Sovereign Court

I am in, so long as I finish my current game by then...

I am focused on taking a hit so a primary damage dealer would compliment we perfectly :)

Sovereign Court

Claim staked. PC pending, based (mostly) on party make-up and needs.

If you are in need of an additional player, I would be willing to participate. However, I would have to run a PreGen as I will have no characters available.

Shadow Lodge

If by any chance you get some dropouts please consider me as an alternate EF.

Chasik and thunderspirit are in to make six.

@Unknown Ediology: I would prefer not to take pregens, especially when there are 'normal' characters available, sorry. Currently I'm full anyways, sorry.

No worries. I figured that was the case.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

EF, if you've got a waitlist here, I'm willing to withdraw. A local GM wants to run this and asked me to join in.

Good luck! This an awesome (if challenging) adventure. I hope someone takes good notes :)

So it looks like we have:

  • Bizzle/Quiven
  • Terrill
  • Linnea/Wilhelm
  • Hiram
  • Chasik

@Merck: I only see one level 3 character that I think you're bringing to my other game. You can only play each character in one game at a time so unless some of your characters are not yet updated I'm not sure what you are bringing.

So I may or may not have one seat left depending on Merck's situation.

The rest of you who are in: the Discussion and Gameplay threads are open for dotting. We won't be moving forward much until April 5 though.

  • I have a Bard 4 or Barb 4 i can bring for this..

Merck has decided to stick with this one so I have a full table of six.
