reflex: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15 Don't know if this is a success or not, I am going to assume it is.
whether by the lubrication ingested earlier or the training manages to stumble out of the way and flap with his arms to avoid falling in the pit.

GM Aarvid |

Bo'alo is the only one standing on the edge and slips into the pit...
Another reflex to catch yourself or fall 20'
The two strangers are standing in the pit, injured and looking up.

![]() |

Holman watches as Bo'alo tumbles into the pit, wincing when (if) he smacks into the ground. He calls down to the other men there, "So who are you, then, and what are you doing here?"

GM Aarvid |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Bo'alo is able to hold the edge and dangles above the two.
"Um, well, funny thing...but we got locked in while shopping...crazy really. We did not know the store had closed and got lost. Really. "

GM Aarvid |

You notice while talking to them that they are hard to see as their skin seems to blend into the rock walls of the pit.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
"I suppose the locked door on the outside, the locked vault, the pesky glass cases...they weren't quite enough of a giveaway?"

![]() |

After concentrating his divine energies Morvius addresses the two below.
You're making me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
Cut it out and start talking... Now!
Intimidate: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 1 = 25

August moves with his friend An and checks out the vault. He assumes the others can handle the guys in the pit without him.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
So, what are we lookin' for?

GM Aarvid |

You are able to haul Bo'alo up.
The two in the pit call up. You can see both are injured and trembling.
"Um, so are you gonna help us out or what? We will do what ever you ask. We just do not want to die down here. Please?"

GM Aarvid |

The first one starts talking while the female that fell into the pit scowls at first but then goes along.
"well, ok. My name is Rogi and this is Zahkar. None if this was our idea you know. Just wrong place at the wrong time type of thing. You gotta believe me. I know very little. Our tribe, the Nisku, does favors for a group of humans in exchange for shiver. Although I gotta admit there’s little love between the two groups. See those bossy humans have the upper hand over the Nisku. They even recruited two of our tribe of skulks, Kymeth and Onamae, to work for them full time. All orders and deliveries to the Nisku tribe come through these two. They arranged for this job...which went poorly....as you see."
He stops and waits for a response.

![]() |

Holman considers the female's words, then asks, "Who are these 'bossy humans'? Are they associated with the circus? What was the job, exactly?"

GM Aarvid |

"Circus? No, the circus just made it to town. Our dealings have been for months. "

![]() |

What about the murder? Ask them about the murder! August urges the others from the vault. Ain't that what we're here to find out about?

GM Aarvid |

They both look up with shock and fear.
"murder? What murder? Oh no. We did not murder anyone. What are you talking about? . "

![]() |

Holman bristles, "...and you still haven't told us who you're working for. If you don't tell us, then perhaps a couple of days in that pit will change your mind."

GM Aarvid |

"Hey, we told you what we know. We were just doing a favor to earn some shiver. "
Kn local?
"You gotta let us out. We can't live in this here pit. Just arrest us or something. What about a fair trial? Huh? . "

GM Aarvid |

"We entered the vault last night. We were given the keys by Kymeth. Said was an easy score. Of course when the old lady came back, Kymeth ran with the key he did. Left us to rot!"

![]() |

Very well, you help us and we will help you out of the pit. But what were you suppose to steal from the vault? What was the "score"?
Turning he whispers to the widow. Lady Agnes perhaps you should check if anything is missing from your vault.
Dont have knowledge local yet. :(
Anyone?

![]() |

Only Knowledge (Local) untrained...if the DC is 10 or below, still valid.
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 (10, because it's untrained)

![]() |

We should search these fellas here an' see if they got anythin' on 'em. Right, An? August doesn't use knowledge.

GM Aarvid |

Nothing appears to be missing from the vault.
The skulks have nothing on them other than cheap knives and scraps of clothing.
"Search us? We do not even have pockets. Here you can have our blades. "

GM Aarvid |

Assuming you eventually haul them out...both are injured from their falls. Their skin changes color to match the surroundings .
"So these crooks tried to rob me? You are not letting them get away with this are you? No? Well I will give you a reward for taking them to the sheriff. My guards did not even bother to look! Such help these days and my poor husband gone . "

![]() |

"Right you are, madam! We will take them there, post-haste!" With that, he begins walking to the door. "C'mon, folks. These fellas had the man's vault key on them, and were told to steal from the Locked Box by someone that is not at all associated with the circus. Thus, the sphinx is not responsible for the man's death, it was the individual who gave them the key." He pauses, "Right?"

![]() |

Morvius uses his rope to tie the hands of both skulks and also tie them together. Yes, it seems that was what happened Mr Nimblefingers. Agreed, lets bring this two to the sheriff at once.
As they walk the oracle will make sure the prisioners are always in the center of the group, surrounded by all sides.

GM Aarvid |

Agnes stops you at the door as she walks you back upstairs.
"Thank you for your service in apprehending these vile criminals.
Hopefully you can bring that crazy she-lion to justice too! She killed my poor dear husband. You have my gratitude."
She hands you a bag with silver and gold coins and a few small jewels About 500gp worth

![]() |

"So do we still think these two incidents are connected? Any idea where we can find this Kymeth or Onamae? And what humans are they working with? Too many questions...it makes my head spin!"
A baffled An looks over at the rest of the party to see if any of them might have answers.

![]() |

You'd know more than me, An. August eyes the thieves carefully as they bring them to the local authorities. Hey, where can we find this Kymeth, huh? August asks the skulks sharply. And are ya sure you didn't kill the man? If ya steal then why can't ya kill?

GM Aarvid |

When the skulks are brought to the sheriff, Feldane is skeptical they are not part of the circus, due to the number of strange creatures and freaks the circus advertises.
"I will keep them under custody, but I do not think this alone can explain the murder. I will see what else I can glean from them. If you have any other leads on the connection, I will leave that to you to research. I am still working under the assumption the circus is involved...and I am starting to have problems with the localstaking matters into their own hands as vigilantes. I have my hands full gentlemen. I suggest you work fast if you think you can prove the circus is not hiding the murderers . "

![]() |

So merely a coincidence? Kath is skeptical, but crimes do happen. Guilty until proven innocent huh He says in a slighly accusing tone. Well I don't suppose you can tell us where the crime actually occured so we can check it out.

GM Aarvid |

"Hmm, nope. I cannot say that I have. Should I know them? Are they part of the circus? . "

GM Aarvid |

"Interesting story. I would need a bit more proof than their word. They do not look particularly trustworthy. However, I will check around and see if any of my contacts have heard the names. Come back tomorrow and I will let you know if I heard anything. Thanks for your help.
The sheriff shakes each of your hands and then goes back to processing the two captives into their cells.

![]() |

I agree with you there madam. There is nothing trustworthy about the two of them. They claim to be from a tribe called the Nisku and to work for humans in exchange of shiver. We will be back as soon as we learn more. Thank you for your time sheriff. Morvius says with a bow before exiting.
At the street he walks with his companions to the scene of the murder.

GM Aarvid |

You pass the pawn shop and go a couple blocks to find the scene of the murder. Blood has been covered but obvious there was brutality at the sight.
