An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni |
Kai, dotting and checking in. Had to change just a bit, missed that I was only proficient in light armor, and I think I was not able to take brawn even with the free one untill 5th level so replaced with nimble. So to hit went down 1 and damage down just a bit and AC went down 1, now ready to go.
Stricia |
Dotting. Can't pick alias avatar right now as the paizo website seems to be acting up. Will wait on finishing off traits until the animal signs are picked. If we're going to three traits it might be interesting to require players to pick a zodiac trait, or at least that the third trait must be a zodiac trait to encourage people to pick one. Starting gold is average right?

Right.
GM Elton |
Okay, everyone's here.
Your adventure begins in the city of Chang'an, which was the capital of the Late Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Right now, it's importance has diminished as the Emperor had moved his court two hundred years ago to Juchenshi. It's not a village where you live (like in the movie Mulan), but a city. Since the capital moved, Chang'an's economy is affected. However, there are opportunities outside of Chang'an that provide adventure in the land of Chang.
It's a beautiful day, and for some reason, you all have known each other for five months. You all have completed your training and your Masters (with probably the exception of the sorcerer at large) have given you the day off. You feel free as its the start of your journey to become Masters and teachers yourselves.
Stricia |
Stricia sits quietly meditating under an aged tree in a small clearing near the humble inn where she has been staying. The coin she had earned as a bodyguard for a caravan from her old monastery to Chang'an has almost run out and she wonders if it is time to set off on her wanderings once more. Perhaps in the direction of Juchenshi. Thus far her travels haven't led to a deeper understanding of her skills as she had hoped. She has made friends though which is a change from her experience in the closed environment she grew up in.
Qiānbēi Yī |
Qian is using a different form of meditation but not to disturb Stricia, he is sitting on the edge of the's Inn's fountain sitting cross legged with all of his meager belongings and playing his pipa with his eyes closed. He is playing a tune that matches the water's rhythmic sound and it actually sounds good.
Perform-Pipa: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
I found a pre-req mistake last night and it is fixed. I also changed my weapon, and it is fixed here but not on the website. No more changes since we started. I am ready to go, just need to finish fluff.
Himiko Ojimi |
Red ribbons flutter in the breeze. Four young women sit beneath a flowering wisteria listening to a fifth play the pipa.
Himiko smiled into her sleeve and enjoys the breeze and the music. Humans are such lovely creatures. They only see what they expect to see.
For the last few weeks Himiko had been Na Wang, niece of the city magistrate, recently arrived in Chang'an from the western provinces. The nobility, Himiko was discovering, often have to spend less than wealthy merchants for the finer things. Instead they received gifts. The young fox-spirit was coming to enjoy receiving gifts.
Later when her "cousins" would retire during the heat of the day, Himiko would sneak out of the compound as Ji Chen, a young wushi, and meet her other friends in the city -- her more exciting friends.
An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni |
Kai spends the day in the city as well. He spends his time watching street performers and feasting. He is often away from such luxuries. He will end the day at an inn enjoying a nice meal and some drink.
An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni |
Kai observes the man as well and keeps his distance. Once he notices Bob approach he does as well.
Greatings Bob. Who is your friend here. I am An Kai Hong. You said you are looking for hero's?
Qiānbēi Yī |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
I thought about rolling the dice but was not sure since it was leading to the start of the campaign.
Qian, stops playing, quickly places his pipa in his waterproof shoulder sack, picks up his stuff, jogs to the gathering, and then quickly bows, "Your village is unable to defend itself?"
An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni |
Did they take things, or just assault you? Have other neighboring villages been hit? They could be gathering supplies or they could trying to take over the land. Either way I will offer my sword to your service. How far of a journey is it to you village?
Stricia |
Stricia's eyes flutter open as she comes out of her meditation. Seeing Bob, An, and Qian gathered around a distressed peasant she stands up and makes her way there as well catching the questions that Bob and Qian put to him.
GM Elton |
Onward the Magnificent 7
And i suppose you mention that to your lord and the proper authorities why would they do any thing about those Bandits ?
I hope their leader isn't Tuco
Yes, it's Tuco. :P
Anyhow, the distressed peasant says, "I was trying to get an audience, but I was not allowed in."

"It's 2 leagues* to the west," he explains. "Yes, they did take most of our valuables, woks and stuff; yes, two others."
Stricia |
Stricia bows to Duan Ching as she approaches the group. I do not think any of us could help you gain an audience. If you have no where else to turn then it would be worthy of us to assist as you we can
Bob Chen |
So that means if you go no one else to help its 6 vs 75 +. That means 11 each for one of us. That is a challenge that will see most of us in the ground I think. Well I guess I have nothing better to do. he says sighting and looking toward a brief and grim future
Bob Chen |
well you might survive being hit buy 3-4 Hobgoblin but we are talking about more than 10 each. Oh what bother you lever listen anyway ! he says trowing his arms in the air.
I am going to go anyway, if i survive this then i will be worthy to continue on the journey.
Bob Chen |
Oh i fully expect to survive this. There are a bunch of things we can do as we get there depending in the situation, and trying to reduce their numbers is the obvious path to take. Its just that i don't expect everyone to survive the ordeal. he says with a grin
Stricia |
Stricia clucks in mild disapproval. I would hope you three would not mind scouting the distressed areas to find the leaders of the raids. Taking care of them would keep us from needing to destroy an entire army by ourselves. Would it not?
Bob Chen |
First things, first. Let's get to the place asses what we can do with the villagers and then if we can try to form a defensive plan. Second once there we can try to see about finding their camp and what to do about it should we find it. he says with a smile
Qiānbēi Yī |
Qian looks conflicted and in the back of his mind he is. He can hear Master Chien scolding him about Dragonborn's bad habits of quest for glory and that they inherit too many bad habits from Dragons. Qian bows, "If you all want to be thorough, we should first be diplomatic to the hobgoblins. And if they turn us down in anyway, then we can start to apply more physical means to cease their hostilities. At the same time, our more stealthy humble friends could scout out the hobgoblin posture."
Qiānbēi Yī |
Instead of trying to resist An's natural forceful slap, he let's it flow through his body into the ground and thinks in his mind, No wonder he is a slayer of Oni, he is just as strong as they are or close to it. Qian smiles, "Anyone who is a Slayer of Oni is humble in my opinion and yes my friend, you are built for aggressive diplomacy."
