If there is no way for us to gain an audience with the authorities then we might as well start our journey Stricia says. I think we have another friend who would be interested in this endeavour. I wonder where she is.

Qian nods, "We should give our authorities a chance to respond for it is more their responsibility than ours. However if they refuse to act, I must assist Mr. Duan Chaing in reestablishing balance to his village." Qian looks around, "Oh you know Himiko, she is socializing with more "exciting" people."

so how about we get ready to depart in the morning ? Does that sounds good to every one?

Qian bows, "Shi, I am ready when you all are and this gives us time to see if the authorities would help first. In addition, find Himiko."

I agree, haven't seen her much. I do hope she won't be too hard to find.

As the others decide to wait until morning before taking action in aiding the stranger. Ra decides to return to his nap and enjoy the rest of his day off.

Qian nods, "Sounds good to me, let's all meet here tomorrow but are we going to talk to the authorities first? Also, we or one of us still needs to find Himiko. I can go look for her and those with more powers of peaceful diplomacy ..." Qian looks at An, "... can talk to the authorities."

In what do we hope to gain with talking to the authorities? The city can't be expected to help every village with every problem. I believe it falls to us to help stabilize the lands at this time.

They should protect everyone Stricia says But even if they are lax in their responsibilities than the news of three villages being decimated should give even them pause

Qian bows to Stricia, "I most humbly agree with Stricia words, it is their responsibility. However if they can not fulfill their responsibility, then we should help the village in a safe and tactical manner."

I am not good with people Stricia huffs. But we should add our words to those of Daun Chaing and if that does not move the authorities then we should prepare to travel

Maybe we can meet Himiko on the way?

Let me do some quick research. I think the Romans are the only ones with paved highways and the Chinese got them later, I don't know.

-- THE WAY THERE --

Between Chang'an and the village was a gallery road. The road was marked by bamboo posts and was not paved (paving would not be invented by the Middle Kingdom for a while). The road was well traveled out of the city. The dirt soils were well packed by camel and donkey traffic. It's a fine day for traveling, one had to make sure they had their straw hats to keep out the sun.

And so we merrily march toward our doom, in a village where we will sleep under the stars, with no real food. Good thing i planed ahead he says taking out his straw hat and tying it on his head.

Are we going to speak with the officials on the way or just head to the village?

I dunno, but you should at least get food.

bob has planed that far ahead and got travelling rations for himself. And yes i do believe some people had wanted to call on the officials :)

Will check how much Stricia has on her when I get home to see if she can afford two weeks worth of food :)

A 24 mile hike doesn't take two weeks. But yes, that would be smart. :)

I'm good, I have a week of rations for travel. I didn't see the point of the official since this guy couldn't get an audiance don't know how any of us will, but go for it. Don't expect them to help though.

Stricia, always one to try to do things by the book, leads the way to the nicer area of the town where the government officials are. On the way the group passes five young women, one of them playing a pipa.

Qian will use survival for finding water and food along the way since food items is considered owning an item. As for a 24 mile hike, it can take anywhere from around 4.8 hours to 12 hours depending on your pace. And Qian is ready to go and is waiting for the group at the meeting place.

Raskul can do the same. Enough to feed 3 taking 10 on survival.

Do not concern yourselves with finding water. The heavens and I will provide he says smiling

Himiko do you wish to jump in?

Stricia tries to locate the government offices that should be dealing with guard patrols and administering the rural areas of the region.

Himiko will join the rest of the group. "I don't know what we can do against so many, but it could be fun to try."

Some of the officials that Stricia are looking for are in the guard tower, inspecting the guards. Himiko will find that the group has a long hike in front of them.

Stricia will approach the guard tower and bow low Honoured sirs. A moment of your time Then she will fall silent hoping that her more silver tongued companions will take over.

"Yes?" they asked.

Qian bows to Bob, "Thank you Mr. Chen but if you need to rest and not channel divine power, I can look for food and water without any problem."

The Guards

Qian follows Stricia and whomever else is going to the guard tower. However, he remains quiet since Diplomacy is not currently his strongest trait.

We have been made aware that there three villages have been attacked and ravaged by a large armed group of monstrous hobgoblins only a few days travel from here. My companions and I are currently on our way to see what happened as it seems like a grave disturbance of the natural order of things. It would grant us much peace of mind if officials of the military would travel with us to ascertain how grave this threat may be

Is it ok ot be anti establishment and goverment here. I was thinking Kai as the do good hero that does right by the people he meets and seeks to help others. He thinks the highter ups are just in it for the money and don't care about people.

At the very least a mere scout or messenger who could accompany us for only a few days travel to simply report back on what devastation and armed forces there might would be of great value to Chang'An. It would not be a burden on you and could provide much benefit. Stricia persists.

Heading towards the gates Stricia lets her inner Rooster out and with a note of satisfaction says It is a good thing when people listen to reason.

Yeah. The group goes, I guess himiko will have to play catchup. :)

I caught up to the group, that afternoon -- I think.

Qian bows to the guards in respect for their decision to send (5) scouts. Qian follows the group to the harassed village. On the road, he finds food to snack on along the sides of the road or slightly off the road. He bows and thanks Chen for any water along the road. In addition, he takes in the weather and the view of the terrain and he has no obvious signs of concern. He is taking each minute as they come, one at a time.
