Responding only after having thought it out herself a few brief moments, "I'm a decent sharpshooter,... Might be to our advantage" she throws in pointing at the gun sitting to her side.

Kael had boarded next, given the nature of his other such crewmates. He stood relatively tall, a few inches above 6 foot, due to his clear elven heritage (tipped ears). Blond hair top his head with navy blue eyes and slight bronzed skin. His clothing is a mixture of blue and whites and form fitting, light yet durable, while his musculature erred on the wiry side as opposed to bulk.

While he was clearly equipped, of note on his lower back crossed two straight blades. A bow and quiver adorned the upper right back a backpack on the left, His right arm was home to what one would assume is a gauntlet with angular spikes.

His face wore that of an observing fellow, not off-putting yet simultaneously unassuming. Eyes clearly ready to accompany his words with a calculated response. He ate, imbibed drink warily and listened to the situation; eyes lingering on each individual a few moments longer than normal.

It was after another woman spoke that he decided to give his thoughts on the matter.

" The man is clearly no good, as he is using his family as shield in his endeavors. This is quite possibly to their lack of knowledge so I propose we keep that in mind. As far as the guards and the man himself, I put forth we try a subtle approach instead.. While I may be capable at longer ranges as well, not all may be so and thus it might be at our advantage to strike at a distance that assures overall maximum efficiency. The firearm you possess, while effective, makes quite the noise. most different from my own style of engagement. "

You can confirm Amelia LeFay's knowledge on Jeraen F. Karrels. You even know his wife's name, Meradeth. As you have been close enough to eavesdrop on a conversation or two of Jeraen's. You are also aware that this is the next planned route he would take and you currently are on the right track. You know he has noble ties, but with who you don't know.

You also notice on the horizon a line of fog, which you can assume the ship will enter by dusk.

Kael's mental synapses fire off madly beneath the cool-faced visage he kept up. His mind connecting various pieces of knowledge from his prior engagements and experiences that were pertinent to the task ahead. He seemed to blink his gaze slowly shifting to Amelia, their captain, giving a slight nod. Rarely had he known a person to have fairly accurate information. Impressive.

He began abruptly, " I apologize if it seems that my current position may come off as wordy but do know what I say I assume will only be placed under the Capt. Amelia's advisement. I must first congratulate the Captain, her information is spot on I can confirm, for I had accomplished some Intel of my own offhandedly. As currently, we are on route with his next planned trade route. Which, I assume to the Captain's knowledge, will lead into a fogbank not too far in the future, if possible we should take advantage of the weather to approach unawares. "

He still seemed to be shaking hands with Light but gives a cursory glance to all around. A slight breather and continues, " As for Jaraen himself I put forth additional information. His wife is named Meradeth and while he may be involved in such dealings, there is likely noble influence at work. I know not with who. They may likely be through his wife. As far as their armaments I can report no anomalies in their outfit compared to your standard seafaring mercenaries. If anyone else can give any other insight I propose this be the time. " he eyes Amelia, " Captain? I assume this is satisfactory? "

He then looks over to Light with certain musing face at the art-piece she had gathered. he could tell it was not by any means a masterpiece but understood the profession and craft was never easy. pointing at the creature he spoke, " There are clear indicators of your current skill being lacking, but that is no indicator of your future skill. There is nothing to be ashamed of as any person of note will inform you that such talent is grown. For example, this blending of red and yellow could be hashed and bled to contrast the bluish hues in the background. Sometimes having an overall idea from the beginning can be helpful or simply flying by the seat of your britches. Practice will only increase your capabilities Ms. Light, I can guarantee you that. Velania walks from the gangplank aboard ship as the wind picked up, streaming her raven hair behind her and baring the dusky green skin of her neck and shoulders. A keen observer may note that the wind not only tugs at her hair and clothing, but for just a moment seems to threaten to break apart the very substance of her body and carry it away like so much smoke.

She carries little with her save a pack and baldric across her back, the latter bearing an impressive and ornate falchion almost as tall as she is. In one hand she holds a crystalline bottle of brilliant green absinthe. She's dressed to show off both her own exquisite form as well as a strength of body which should not be underestimated.

As she approaches Amelia she presents the glowing bottle of absinthe. a gift for the captain, thanks for... taking me on
Her lurid stare remains fixed on the captain for perhaps just a moment longer than is comfortable before taking her time devouring her other crewmates with her eyes.

Mordrin stalks onto the ship quietly among the other potential crew members. He didn't know much about this LeFay person, but a job is a job, and any ship sailing out of Lowgate was sure to need a medic on board for one reason or another.

Though his presence doesn't stand out much to the casual observer, anyone who cared to look would see that he is a young man of medium build. He has dark hair and beard, both of which he keeps neatly trimmed, more out of professional concern rather than any sort of vanity or desire to appear fashionable. His clothes are weather-worn and patched, but the breeze pushes his cloak pack from time time, revealing armor that seems to be constructed of some kind of plant matter.

Mordrin mills about the ship for a while, checking in with anyone who looks like they might be feeling ill. After the meal in the galley, he almost asks the captain if she is feeling ill, when she springs up and launches into her description of the job at hand.
"As for me," he says in his turn, "I will do whatever is required of me. If we are able to complete the liberate the slaves without bringing harm to anyone, that might be best. Then again...

Mordrin's eyes gleam darkly as he looks around the table and says, "Then again, subtlety isn't the only way."

At the table, she picks sparingly, though she does eat. She produces another bottle of absinthe from her pack and begins to nurse it with relish, determined to finish it as slowly as possible over the course of the evening.

alright love, so there's us in this pleasure craft without armaments versus them in a larger vessel with an unknown but certainly larger compliment and a strong possibility of cannons...

We'll just have to overtake them under cover of night an board their ship, overwhelm the watch crew and free the slaves who will hopefully join the fight on their own behalf. I'm not sure there is any other way. she takes a long slow swig of her drink, going so far as to wrap her lips fully around the neck of the bottle

Amelia listened to the others as they spoke, nodding at each point as it was made. She smiled for Velania and stowed the Absinthe away for another time.

"Before we get too in detail on our plans, we need to know what each of our companions are capable of." She looked to Kael first, as she admired the way he conducted himself. "If you wouldn't mind going first, outlining your skill set for the group as well as anything that may be cause for concern, vulnerabilities, if you will."

She let her glance sweep over the crew, making eye contact with each of you one by one as she spoke. From Kael, all around until she came back to him. "We'll go around the room. I want us all to know each others' moves, how we think. It won't be quick, or easy. But we will be better as a team for it."

She then sat back in her chair with one leg crossed over the other and curled her hands beneath her chin, resting on it with her head at a bit of a tilt as she waited and listened.

in the interest of keeping things moving, I'm going to go ahead and have Velania speak her piece. Please assume that, in fact, she waited patiently for her turn before speaking

she takes another slow draught of her absinthe very well, if I'm next, you've heard my thoughts on how we might proceed. As for myself, I'm quite adequate at the up close and personal sort of violence. I have a number of means at my disposal with which to inflict harm upon another person, both magically and mundane. What's more, my reach literally exceeds my grasp, meaning I can surprise people who may think they're safe from my attacks demonstrating, she leans forward across the table and grasps a roll some ten feet away from her, her arm becoming misty and translucent, it's substance roiling and shifting in the air like smoke. Casually, she butters her roll as she continues to speak. I myself am impervious to most forms of mundane attack and highly resistant to most magical forms.

She tears off a small piece of the steaming roll and gently brushes it against her half open lips as she considers how to proceed. It's probably worth saying that as much as I enjoy violence, I understand how the threat of violence can be more effective than the thing itself. People are very imaginative when it comes to the their own prospective pain, and with the right words, the right look, the right gesture towards one's weapon, and many people will be quite cooperative without ever a drop of blood being shed. I'm not much good for more subtle or friendly means of manipulation, but I AM an expert at intimidation, call it my racial heritage if you must, but there you are.

I have a fair understanding of magical theory and geography. I speak the language of dragons, and have some distant draconic ancestry. I'm also an able sailor.

once again she's thoughtful, looking into the distance as she strokes the base of her neck with thumb and forefinger before continuing once again, You've asked about our vulnerabilities. You were direct and framed the question with the success of our task in mind. I respect that. I'm trusting you, all of you with this fact, though some if not all of you have probably already guessed that I've eaten one the Devil Fruit, specifically the smoke-smoke fruit. I've demonstrated its benefits to me, but of course it also means that I cannot abide sea water and am all but helpless when in contact with it.

before I forget, for what it's worth I keep a small collection of potions with me, some for healing, some for protection and some to make me more... formidable. If we are to be comrades, I'm willing to share them.

that's all

she looks to the next person expectantly.

For the sake of clarity, we'll say I'm seated next to Valania.

Mordrin's eyes linger on Velania for a few moments after she finishes her introductions. His gaze has a certain sadness to it. Finally, as she turns to face him, waiting for him to begin divulging his life's story, Mordrin snaps out of his reverie and addresses the table, Ah! I suppose it's me next. Or should I say "us"? With that word, Mordrin's frame seems to waver like a mirage, and suddenly there is a figure standing behind him. The new figure is exactly identical to Mordrin, but there seems to be a darkness over him, like he is constantly under a shadow. The only other difference between the two is their eyes. Where Mordrin's eyes were green rimmed with black before, the seated Mordrin's eyes are now entirely a brilliant, emerald green, while the standing Mordrin's eyes are solid black.

They speak in unison: Behold the power of the Double-Double Fruit, otherwise known as the Paramechian. This was a gift from my mother, right before she died. Both Mordrins' expressions change, one looks sad, while the other gets a look of disgusted fury.

The seated figure speaks up alone, As for what I can bring to the ship's battle plans, my healing magic is potent, and I carry a wand with me to provide extra healing beyond my normal limitations. Mordrin's double answers in an almost sing-song voice as he fingers the dagger on his belt, And I tend to cause...issues...for our enemies.

The seated Mordrin then stands and moves next to his double. They bow in unison and say, Mordrin Green, at your service. They then reform back into one body and sit back down.

pouting slightly and with a tone that suggests she's just been compared to chopped liver, Velania sighs and answers in Mordrin's stead, I often forget how uncommon knowledge of the Devil fruit is. They are named such because it's believed they are literally the fruit of the Sea-Devil. He is said to have created more than 100 of these fruits and each one, if eaten, grants the one who eats it unique abilities and powers. My smokin' good looks and and Mordrin's ability to double himself are only two examples out of many. No two Fruit grant exactly the same powers. However, every Fruit comes with the same curse, no Devil Fruit user may so much as touch sea water without suffering a temporary loss of power? and debilitating exhaustion.

Mordrin smiles at Amelia and answers after Velania explains about the source of their abilities, "The lovely lady seated next to me has it right, Miss LeFay. The powers I demonstrated just a moment ago were the result of eating the Devil Fruit. If you'd prefer to see magic, I have some of that I could demonstrate as well, but I'd rather not be a showboat in front of all these lovely people. Better to save all that for when it's needed."
He picks up his fork to take another bite of his meal, but then quickly looks at Amelia again and adds, "Oh, and you may certainly call me Mordrin. Mr. Green is far too...formal for a simple fellow like myself, and my life hasn't exactly afforded me the chance to earn any fancy credentials to be called 'Doctor' or something similar."
He then returns to his meal and looks around curiously, anxious to hear what other abilities might be revealed in the moments to come.

Light's attention is taken from her as her curiosity becomes peeked. 'what I wouldn't give for a power like theirs!' she thought to herself now fully engrossed in their explanations. She listened patiently as the others went through their pieces and when the last finished she let the room fall into silence for but a moment as she contemplated what she'd learned. After their exchange, or perhaps during as she wanted to get this done, she would meet Kael's eyes. No overt threat, or suggestion in her gaze, but one of acknowledgement.

"Thank you all. I myself am skilled in the magic arts, my specialty is the use of ice and frost. Other skills include a fair hand at sailing, navigating the seas. I am knowledgeable in my craft, and am fairly well versed in alchemy as well. One problem I have, is that I am unable to wield flame, for reasons unknown to me." She added the last as almost an afterthought.

Now, to no one in particular as she looks at each of you for no more than a passing moment she goes on. "I realize asking about your abilities so is a bit much, but and I stress, your life will soon be in the hands of those next to you. We need to be able to trust, if not trust, then work together effectively. Knowing each other in an out will avoid any unnecessary complications in the future. That said, if there is anything anyone has left out, please speak up either here now, or come find me in my cabin if privacy is desired."

The serious look in her eyes and the tight set of her business like mask faded after a moment and she smiled to the room. "Welcome to Andraeia Gale, treat her well and she'll do the same." She stood, giving a moment for the others to follow suit if they wish. "Blessed be that the waters are calm, and the wind at our backs. Take some time to get to know each other, or for yourselves as needed. Then we go say hello to Jeraen and his wife." Her friendly smile turned wicked with dark humor. "We'll meet again before nightfall to discuss battle plans. Take the time until then to think things over."

With that, assuming no one has any additional questions, Amelia will head for the helm where her spotted white owl, Jasper waits perched beside it.

As the meeting adjourns, she rises and bows soldier-like to Amelia. an enlightening meal, thank you. she raises a hand tentatively and brushes an errant hair from Amelia's brow I hope we can share a drink once the battle plans have been discussed, a way to to cement our camaraderie since that seems to be your desire. she offers a predatory smile before directing her attention to the reminder of the crew, still smiling I look forward to getting to know all of you very much better

Kael gives genuine smile, which seems at odd with his face, as if such doesn't happen too often, " Yes Amelia, then I suppose I let you do as you should to think on the matters. "

His attention shifted back to his orcish speaking partner, one of which he recently was given, Velania. " I am glad I amuse you so thoroughly Velania. I seem to be building quite the report with you, one which I hope to do so with the rest. Lacking a soft side makes this easier then, the sea isnt made for those types. Do note, while I am lithe and precise.. I bruise easily. "

He catches Light's almost ignored stare, " That includes you as well, we are in this together as has been repeated. Mordrin I will have many interesting topics to go over. " Kael huffs, there seemed to be alot to do and little time.

" Oh and.. for the sake of noting it now, we should create alias BEFORE we fight.. Misinformation is always good practice. "

Mordrin will stand along with Amelia and will bow his head in prayer at her blessing. Before she departs, he turns to his captain and asks, "I beg your pardon, ma'am, but my exploration of the ship thus far did not reveal the location of any sort of medical bay. Is there such a facility onboard? If not, I could certainly establish one for use in any medical emergencies, but a dedicated room for treatment of serious wounds would be preferable."

A Quiet and short elfish boy walks carelessly into the room. With a bag on his back and dark-green woven armor. At his side is a katana and his arm resting on its hilt. The man clears his throat and begins to speak.
"こんにちは、私の名前は ALABAR DEREK(Hello, my name is Derek. Alabar Derek.)" The young man said in a stern, yet soft voice. His hair was a shiny green and his skin a soft peach hue. A single faded scar could be seen on the swordsman's right eye.

Velania absolutely leers at the boy and licks her lips as she tries to decide how old he is as he's obviously only recently come of age. welcome Alabar Derek, I'm Velania. If you're here to join the crew, I'm sure Captain Amelia here will be pleased if you sit and eat while you tell us a bit about yourself. I'm afraid you've missed most of the introductions, but there will be plenty of time for us to get acquainted later or you can just scroll up and pretend that we do. For now, since you're late, I hope you don't mind being put on the spot and explain what what assets and liabilities you bring to the ship. She takes another sip of her absinthe, never taking her eyes off the newcomer

To Mordrin, Amelia will nod as she points toward the bow. "There, just on the other side of that wall there are some storage rooms. One is mostly empty, and you are free to set up shop there as you see fit. If you need help moving anything, take the newbie."

Amelia will push past Alabar with a look, but she'll pause just long enough to say. "Second chances are for people that deserve them. Convince me that you are one of those people by never being late to these meets again or you will be left at the next port. Now, introduce yourself to your crewmates and be sure to share with them your strengths, and any weaknesses that aren't apparent."

Light raises her hand, "Captain, err,... Amelia ma'am?,... Can you show me to the cabins and maybe about the ship in more detail?

Mordrin looks toward the stranger as he enters the room, barely hearing Amelia's response. He almost immediately recognizes the fellow half-elf for what he is. Thinking back on his own unfortunate heritage, he feels a sense of pity for the lad (though there is only a few years between them from what he can tell. After their captain leaves, he steps toward Alabar and says, "Greetings, Alabar. I am Mordrin Green. If you find yourself in need of medical assistance, I am your man." From his closer vantage point, he takes in Alabar's equipment and physique. He sees that this late arrival is a warrior of some sort, seemingly one who favors a sword. Good, I feared that we might not have enough steel between the enemy and the softer members of our crew. I'd rather not have to send Black in to practice his brand of combat. He tends not to discriminate friend from foe much.
Mordrin bows slightly and takes a step back to give Alabar a chance to step fully into the room and take part of the meal.

While Amelia is otherwise occupied and once Alabar is done with his speech even if he winds up speaking more after this post, she wraps an arm around Lightt and steers her toward the door. c'mon, we'll explore the ship together and find the cabins or hammocks, such as the case may be. We can be bunk mates, maybe! with which she gives Lightt a slightly more than sisterly hug, crushing their chests together, but remaining completely cavalier and unselfconcious about the whole thing and continues to move her along as she begins peppering her with boisterously friendly questions. I wanna be best friends! So why DID you take up painting? Are their any you'd be willing to show me? ooh! what's the range on that gun? did you make it yourself? can you show me how to make one?...

Amelia will turn to regard Lightt with a smile that fades quickly when Velania jumps her and.. offers her company.

"I would love to, Lightt was it? Lovely name. Though it seems you have an eager crewmate that would like to accompany you, the decision is yours of course."

She shifts her gaze to fall on Velania alone, making eye contact as needed. "I would encourage you to give your companions some space, I know if it were me, I would not react very kindly to being steered around like some vegetable cart by someone I've only just met and would not reprimand Lightt if she would react in the same way."

lol, spoil sport!

taken aback, Velania stares back at Amelia, clutching her chest and apparently hurt by the accusation I thought you wanted camaraderie among us, I would never force my company on someone who didn't want it... well, not deliberately, anyway...

She turns to Lightt and fixes her with huge doe eyes as she gently places her hands upon her shoulders I'm sorry Lightt, I've been told I can be a bit of a strong flavor. I hope you'll tell me if I'm coming on too strong. I really do want to be friends, and I really would like to hear all about you, but... and here she lights back up with a smile we might have quite a voyage ahead of us and there's plenty of time to get to know one another, so by all means let Amelia actually answer your question and we can talk later... if you want.

Light nods, "I appreciate your enthusiasm Velania, but I'd asked Amelia in hopes to talk with her." Light flashes an awkward smile at Velania, "There are just some matters I'd like to talk about with the captain first"

She then looks at Vel with more of a serious tone, "Could you not invade my space, I'd rather not come off as rude, but you should keep your hands to yourself"

Velania smiles, seeming genuinely pleased, as she casually removes her hands from Lightt's shoulders. there's nothing awkward about it, Kael. I'm an aggressive woman and I don't apologize for it, though I'll try to respect other's limits when they remind me that they have them. Captain Amelia just reminded me that such limits exist and Lightt asserted hers without needing any help from anyone.
she nods and winks at Lightt before disengaging and approaching Kael, slipping a hand through the crook of his elbow. I'm pleased, however, to accept your offer of company. Shall we take a tour of the vessel, or did you have something else in mind?

Great rp guys! On with the adventure.

Fog rolls in as the night darkens the sea causing an eerie feel to the sound of the lightly crashing wave aboard the vessel. Over the next few hours, the fog grows in thickness, causing anticipation to fall over the ship. Though the ship continues on, moving with the light breeze that was accompanied it. A few hours would go by. The twilight fading into a dark cloudy sky. Soon it was impossible to see the water below you.

Perception check DC15:
You hear the faintest sound of straining wood from portside. Roughly 100 feet out. A faint silhouette of a ship sits on the water.
It is now midnight.

Kael made a honest grin as their arms entwined for the moment. " I see no reason why both activities cannot be accomplished. And I might add, your aggressive ways are not wholly unwanted. We shall become aquainted with the ship first, then more comfortable with each other later. I hope you will enjoy the experience, I myself can be domineering. "

The grin lessens to a sly smile and Kael leads Velania around, making small conversation prodding at her mannerisms and providing as much entertainment as he could for her sake. He was genuinely interested in the orc, her tale would surely be enriching, whatever happened in the meantime was simply a bonus. Once they reached private quarters, he relinquished control.

My above post was for after you guys had set sail into the night. Sorry for any confusion.

Midnight found Kael on the main deck, leaning against the railing and staring thoughtfully into the dense fog. He was sore in places he was unaccustomed and questioning many things about himself which he had previously taken for granted for many years. If asked, he'd say enjoyed his time with Velania because he had very, very much, but if pressed he'd be forced to admit that he couldn't describe exactly what they'd done, which would be a lie because he certainly could describe exactly what they'd done, he just found himself unwilling to do so for reasons that... well, just reasons...

He sighed quietly and smiled inwardly to himself as he realized he'd definitely be willing to do it again.

As if on cue, Velania chose that moment to come up on deck and stand beside him, grinning like a cat who'd just inherited a quail farm. She stood for just a moment, as though hesitant to speak which, he felt, was quite an accomplishment, until she said um, yeah, that was awesome, but just let me know when the pommel of my falchion... hmmm, turns up. It's pretty important for weapon balance and kisses him on the cheek.

Vel's Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

as she hears faint creaking, what was that? she crosses to port and peers into darkness and fog, Kael! get everyone on deck! there's a ship right on top of us!

She rushes to the alarm bell and starts ringing to beat the band.
