Amir & Siphon

Young miss Columbia says in her "school gym" voice I'm going to assume that your intoxication is because of what has happened to your friends, and urge you to find healthier ways to cope. The authorities have elected to welcome your change of behavior, don't waste your second chance.

As she finishes she goes back to Amir Justice Force keeps track of powerful Neo-abled in the city. And he has attended a number of our fundraisers.

Siphon giggles at Columbia's rebuke. "I'm not intoxicated," she says while staring at a skinless imp sitting on the hero's armored shoulder. "I'm tripping balls."

She turns to Amir. "Hey, could I, you know, crash at your place? After you guys eat, of course. Manifest and I had a little tiff. He's promised I'll have some wild nightmares, so sorry in advance if I scream."

Huh, Amir's stepping up.

Yu Na was used to footing the bill for most group outings. It was what she considered part of "compensation" for the group helping her make so much great content. Still, she did feel bad that Amir was paying for a contest he didn't seem to realize he had been a part of.

Note to self, figure out what Amir likes other than sand.

After the pho, which was of course delicious, Yu Na resigned herself to recovering from her food coma as she watched her teammates gabber on.

So we're all still at the restaurant? Columbia included?

I was under the impression I had a group of named and unimpressed capes outside my room. There was one guarding the door, even. I was...kind of expecting something there, or I would have just joined everyone else.

Siegfried winces as Ezikiel's voice streams into his mind, his mark burning into his skin. These things tend to be a pain...but he needed to go along with them to maintain goodwill. Please tell me this won't be as bad as when Lirium had work here...
Alright. How do I call him, and how long does he need?

Amir is surprised to hear this about his dad. Maybe he ought to google his name when he got home. Speaking of home and surprises... Siphon asks if she can stay at his apartment. Amir's brain trips over its left foot and falls down his mental stairs.

"I, er, uh–YES! Absolutely! That'd be awesome!" Having hit the bottom of his mental staircase, Amir backs up a bit. "I, um, was planning on opening the place up anyway, if anyone from the, ah, group needed somewhere to stay."

His heart was pounding. This whole situation felt like a dream.

Later, at the Pho place (with a big pile of sand parked outside thanks to Amir), Amir sits with the others as they finish their meals. He nurses a Thai Iced Tea.

a few days pass, relatively uneventfully, JF beats you to the two major villain events and Manifest burning down part of a neighborhood is more or less forgotten in the crazyness.

but tonight, the "Children Of Tribulation" an 'end of the world' cape-cult, are raising Cain in a nearby park. they have apparently decided to practice their aggresive evangelism using the stage and loudspeakers, and a captive audience. JF is across town, but you guys aren't.

Might want to pick a leader.

Moxie drops a place mat on the table on its blank side, and begins drawing out a map of the park from memory with a green IHOW crayon. You are not in an International House of Waffles. "We've got hippies wigging out in Grandstand Park, hassling dudes in the kind of way that totally earns them a punched-in face." The green crayon goes into a coffee mug, and Moxie starts gabbing things out of the condiments cradle. "So the plan here is to keep them from scattering. You'll each take position at the exits, then we'll have Manifest do what he does best, and break their confidence. Then, we'll just catch them on their way out. Divide and conquer." She's surrounded the map with salt and pepper shakers, as well as ketchup and mustard bottles, with a tall bottle of hot sauce in the middle.

She has assumed her leadership is ironclad, but may be open to persuasion, especially if it comes with a better plan.

Two questions: Are we 'not in', or 'now in' an International House of Waffles? And who got the kiddie menu so we could have the crayons? :-P

Siphon studies the green-crayon map seriously for a moment, then looks up at Moxie. "Wait, what? You send them scattering, they'll mix with the crowd. Then it'll be chaos, since the crowd's going to be running too. Anyone at the exits are going to be trampled.

"Why not just show up and give the big hero speech? Then let them monologue a bit to give time for the crowd to scatter, then we throw down?"

"Wait did you steal all of–", starts Amir, before shutting up and muttering, "–nevermind."

He's not sure if he wants to know. Instead, what he does want to know is whether Moxie considers him to be either the salt or pepper shaker, but there's no time for that now. Amir leans over the map and taps the stage.

"How about Siphon and I take the stage? We can draw the brunt of the fighting up there so none of the bystanders in the crowd get hurt. Manifest can block the exits with a magic wall, and Moxie and Twitch can make ramps or stairs with their powers so people can get out." Feeling a surge of confidence, Amir stands tall. "Once the normies are safe, Siphon and I will clear the stage so Manifest can blast it, then we'll all move in and take down any of the Cee Oh Teas (C.O.Ts) that are left."

Amir turns to Manifest. He thinks of the Maker's Mage waning reputation, and how lucky it was that the whole thing with the fire got kind of swept under the rug with the craziness of the last few days. Amir knows though, that nothing in Panurgic gets forgotten, eventually the incident would come up to bite Manifest. It was up to him to help restore Manifest as a local hero.

"I, uh, don't mean to sound like a jerk, but there's less chance that someone will get hurt on accident this way. And once the crowd is clear, you can really let loose."

Do I clear my remaining conditions?

Back when he'd gotten out of the hospital, Siegfried had...kind of panicked when Siphon didn't show up. He hadn't known what was going on, and all sorts of strange occurrences had happened as a result of his efforts to locate Siphon.
...then he found out she was just with Amir.
At much as he was relieved that was all, it made him uncomfortable. What with how Amir had gotten over Siphon, and the fact that for some reason that hadn't occurred to him, Siphon had thought she'd needed to just disappear on him like that. It was kind of painful thinking she thought that necessary.
Sure, she'd been a villain before, but she hadn't done anything since her heel-face turn. And he hadn't thought he had, either.

Amongst all of this sat Amir, who Manifest was currently having a hard time trusting properly. His plan made sense, and he'd probably have no objections had anyone else proposed it, but just because it was him he was having a hard time trusting his motives. Ever since the fight they'd had before...the cyborg event...Manifest had managed to get the impression Amir had a problem with him ever since he'd visited his home. Maybe even before.
So as they sat here, and Amir commented again on his (in)ability to not hurt people amongst Moxie's stolen goods, he couldn't help but look unhappy with Amir.

"I understand that well enough. I know full well what I do isn't exactly the best suited for use around crowds of normal people."
There's something of a bitter tone to Manifest's voice.

Siphon purposefully doesn't look at Manifest. She had taken his powers while he was in the hospital on a stupid dare, while she had already been flush from eating earlier that night. It was dumb, it was greedy, and it wasn't the way a hero was supposed to act.

She did her best not to recall all the odd, frightening, and downright horrific creatures she'd seen when she possessed his powers every time she looked at Manifest, but it wasn't easy. Far, far easier to not look at him.

She opened her mouth to mention that she currently didn't have any powers outside of her own, but Manifest answered Amir before her. She hadn't 'eaten' since that night, and the brute strength she took from Lovelace's muscle-bound guards had faded. She was getting quite famished, but she tried to hide it.

Amir and Siphon, center stage, she thinks to herself as she ruminates on the upcoming fight. It shouldn't be too hard, so long as she gets close enough to grab a couple of the C.O.T.s. Then she'll be full, and should have an idea of what their plans are after their little 'evangelism revival.'

"Sounds okay to me," she says, but exchanges the ketchup bottle with the hot sauce, "but I'm totally the hot sauce."

"That's Amir. 'cause he's slow, and needs to catch up." Moxie waits until she has regained dominion over her diorama, and switches the ketchup for the dislocated pepper. After another pause for consideration, she switches the pepper and the mustard.

Twitch grabs the salt shaker and places it places it in the center of Moxie's improvised map.

It only made sense. Salt was in her name.

Manifest doesn't particularly distrust anyone but Amir, right now. He's less concerned about the team overall, as long as he's not at the helm.

Moxie has influence over Siphon (as does everyone on the team.

Siphon trusts the team well enough-- she still thinks the heroes just naturally "get it."

Siphon's objective is to take control of center stage.

The Doomed

INFLUENCE:
Amir is not influenced by Moxie, but he is one of her biggest defenders. Amir is influenced by Siphon and Twitch.

TRUST:
Amir doesn't trust the team. This is only their second battle together, and their hangout time has been limited. He's not sure how serious the others are about saving lives, and will be on constant lookout to pick up any slack or correct any mistakes from them.
- Manifest: Amir isn't afraid that he's going to lose control or anything, and he really doesn't think that Manifest is in any real physical danger here. Instead, what he is afraid of is anything that could potentially affect Manifest's reputation. Amir will pull back if it means letting Manifest have a big hero moment.
- Moxie: Amir believes in the idea that destiny or fate can be changed. He's one of Moxie's biggest defenders, and wants to help her change her future. Amir thinks she's tough and can handle herself in a fight, but he'll be keeping an eye on her to prevent or hold her back from anything that might threaten to put her down the Mad Moxie path.
- Siphon: Amir will outwardly proclaim that he thinks Siphon can hold her own, but inwardly he's worried for her safety; and tends to forget the whole supervillainous past thing. He loves her and will prioritize her well-being.
- Twitch: Amir trusts her to handle herself, as he's been watching her videos for a long time and knows what she can do.

OBJECTIVE:
Amir's objective is really to make sure the Team stays safe. Yes, he wants to fight the bad guys and save the innocent, but the Team, his friends, are first in his mind.

Female Star | Danger 0 | Freak +1 | Saviour +1 | Superior +2 | Mundane -2 | ○●Potential●○ --- ●●●○

Moxie does not have influence on Twitch.

Twitch does trust Moxie as current team leader, and she knows the team well enough that she thinks they can handle her own. However...she is a little wary of Manifest and Siphon ever since the mention of brain draining.

Twitch is still primarily wanting to stand out and keep things fun (she's fully planning to stream the event). Oh, and save some folks (but she's assuming that'll naturally happen since the team is so great).

Riding a sand wave was an interesting experience. She had an urge to kick off her Stuart Weitzman boots to feel the sand on her feet, but there was no way she'd abandon the high-fashion butt-kicking footwear for that. She hangs on to Amir's arm to steady herself.

She figures Orias or the Father would be good targets for her power. Azazel's power would be too time consuming (though something she may want to try out for later), and Phanuel's power-negating ability might not interact with hers very well.

She takes her new phone and sticks the earbuds in her ears, cranking up the volume of her playlist. She gives Amir a thumbs up and leans forward as they approach the stadium, letting him pick the point of entry.

I think we have 2 Team. I can also trade a condition to help without Team. I could help Burn in a last-minute powow/makout sesh with two other helpers, or we can try to fix either the Show or Worlds move. I think our fictional position best facilitates helping the Show.

Female Star | Danger 0 | Freak +1 | Saviour +1 | Superior +2 | Mundane -2 | ○●Potential●○ --- ●●●○

We're all in the same area, so using team should be fine though Twitch is embarrassed we have to use it on her after she talked a big game. The move itself:

When you put on a flamboyant display of your powers, roll + Superior. On a 7-9, name one NPC present. On a 10+, name two NPCs present. The named NPCs must either volunteer help or information, express admiration, or ask for your help, GM’s choice. On a miss, your display catches someone watching in the wrong way.

I'm not sure if I can declare another super, or if the GM provides me options and I can pick one. But yeah, having a minor success is better than the failure option imo.
