Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Not doing any good with the crossbow and not comfortable shooting toward friends, anyway, Edrukk stows the weapon and heals himself a little more, then passing Gorum's blessing to the fighter.
Healing: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
For the next minute, Broccan's attacks get +3 to damage. Don't know if KK will apply it this round of not.
Broccan Dunchad |
"Thangs fer th' help, Muggo," Broccan says genially, offering a hand to the giant. "Yer a good fella."
He looks around a bit, then addresses the giant again. "We're a bit turn'd round it seems. Whas' th' best way t' get to Alik from 'ere?"
KenderKin |
Muggo scratches his head....
"If Alek is not here then you can leave out tha way..."
Points to V5
"If Alek is wit tha ettins then you go down tha tunnel."
Points to V9
"If Alek is with tha fire giant in his Smithy then yah go through tha door."
Points to the big door
"Or you can wait with me at tha gate....sometimes is a long wait..."
Broccan Dunchad |
"What 'r th' fire giant'n ett'ns like?" Broccan asks. "Are they friendly chaps like yerself, or'r they more like this lot?" he says, pointing to the corpses of the hill giants.
KenderKin |
Muggo "Tha Ettins might ave two heads, but they err a dim lot. Tha fire giant is right smart, a expert forger, but tha is bout all he does, an nobody usually interrupts him. If you want another scrap tha Ettin need a good whollop, if yah need to talk tha master o tha forge is a good talker."
Broccan Dunchad |
"I get'n fights 'nuf jus' from folk'sit wann'eh kill me. I'd rath'r 've a chat w' th' fire giant, m'self," Broccan offers, looking to the rest of the group for their opinions.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"Canna' be a bad sort if'n 'e be a master smith, aye? Me da 's one o' th' best 'n th' dwarven kingdoms, didja know?"
Kythel of Nisroch |
"We should speak with the Fire Giant perhaps he knows where Alek has gotten to."
"Tell me Muggo, what of the Imp we have seen appearing and disappearing in this place, where does it lair?"
KenderKin |
Muggo: "Oh tha little loud bug, it lives in tha steam fer sure."
Three votes for the fire giant, so off we go!
- A dim gray light glows from the ceiling and bright fiery blue light comes from the rumbling furnace.
- Busy working at the forge is a mammoth 12-foot-tall dwarf, with coal-black skin, flaming red hair, and a prognathous jaw that reveals dirty ivory teeth.
Fire Giant Working
This huge rectangular room has a prism-shaped, 50-foot-high ceiling. The walls are sculpted with a complex work. A shiny, metal furnace stands against the north wall, with rumbling, vertical blue flames inside. A large mound of broken anvils are stacked against the side of the furnace, and several more anvil fragments lie heaped inside the furnace, glowing red-hot. An enormous hammer lies on a big iron anvil in the middle of the room, beyond which several more anvils are stacked haphazardly. A great chair sits in the southwestern corner aside a huge metal chest. A 7-foot-wide cubic cage of silver and platinum, its bars etched with mystical symbols, lies nearby, propped up against a pile of metal scrap.
Please note the distance using the map and realize how long it will take to melee

Edrukk likewise shows both hands. "We 'ave 'eard ye be th' best smith 'n th' land. Me da be a fine smith 'n I 'm 'opin' t' see 'nother master o' th' craft!"
KenderKin |
The room is hot even from the door you can feel the heat of the forge, it is an incredible heat. The giant even appears to be shimmering and wavering in the heat of the room.
"Make yourself brief then and leave me to my work."
Those who want to talk do so, those who want to snoop just let me know....see original post for ideas of things to look at

Fire giant thoughts.....
Damn these interruptions, I have work to do these soul cages are not going to make themselves and they need more of them for that tree of shackled souls thing.....well hurry up and say something, the followers are really going down hill, what an ugly bunch....except the lady....(train of though concerning Alkaid removed)......wouldn't mind using my hot poker on.....
Broccan Dunchad |
Broccan watches the bizarre exchange as Alkaid voices answers to what he assumes are the giant''s thoughts.
"Ye follow'n annee'oh this?" he whispers to Edrukk.
KenderKin |
As Alkaid banters with the giant, the forgelight flickers across a very strange object indeed.
A 7-foot-wide cubic cage of silver and platinum, its bars etched with mystical symbols, lies nearby, propped up against a pile of metal scrap.
This strange sight caught your attention Bone casket?
Obviously it is forged from silver and platinum and even melted down would hold great value.
The Giant: "Away then temptress! I have no time for sluts!"
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythel whispers to Alkaid, "Uh, this is not your best diplomatic work I have seen from you in our brief time together..."
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Broccan watches the bizarre exchange as Alkaid voices answers to what he assumes are the giant''s thoughts.
"Ye follow'n annee'oh this?" he whispers to Edrukk.
The dwarf shakes his head. He whispers back, "Ah knows th' words, ye see, but she's knowin' mor'n he's sayin'. Full o' surprises, 'at one."
In Giant, "You are obviously very busy and your skills are in demand, so we don't want to take you from your task. We were hoping you could help us find Sir Alek. We were told he visits you on occasion, but he hasn't been back for a while."
Hope I got that right...
KenderKin |
"I got nothing to do with the Paladin and all that, get out!"
The giant hurls a piece of a broken anvil from the forge at you!

"And stay out!"
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythel turns to Edrukk and heals him for what will now be a battle.
CMW 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 5) + 6 = 19 + 50% = 29 HP
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
It missed me even without my AC bonus against giants. Save your spell for a bit.
He reaches back and draws the greatsword and activates Gorum's blessing on himself. Will decide which one in a bit.
KenderKin |
"We shall see."
The fire giant grabs his BFH (Big F~+%ing Hammer) and goes to town on Alkaid and Broccan, and Alkaid again.....

Edrukk Thorvirgun |
The aforementioned blessing is a +10' to land speed.
The dwarf hustles forward, faster than usual, after calling on Gorum to guide his hand in the battle to come.
I believe Broccan and Alkaid are flanking, but more than one medium can flank across a large or larger, so Edrukk should be able to get into flanking position, also.
+2 greatsword, sacred weapon, power attack, furious focus, vital strike: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 1 + 2 = 28 with Sacred weapon bonus, flanking
Damage: 4d6 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 5) + 12 + 1 = 23 with Sacred weapon bonus
AC 24 vs Giant
KenderKin |
Since the 50% miss chance due to displacement, I am counting only the highest damage attack from both Alkaid and Broccan against the giant's total. I will roll Edrukk's miss chance.....
Edrukk scores a hit as well.
Alkaid, Broccan and Edrukk become aware that some magic is hindering your attacks against hitting the giant!
Broccan, Alkaid and now Edrukk are close enough to all feel the intense heat of the smithy each taking a single d6 of damage1d6 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 2
Kythel is shielded by Alkaid at the moment
The giant laughs and switches up his targets a bit, attacking Alkaid, Broccan and then Edrukk.
"Here's one for you, and you, and you!"
