Kythel's quick thinking dispels the displacement...

Allowing Broccan to hit the giant with both his attacks this time!

"So that's it, then? We are not fighting?"

He closes the forge door to decrease the temperature.....

"I'll let you go, if you swear never to use your skills to further works of those that have evil in their hearts, dark desires, or evil intentions."

"Hey now that's half my business, I would wager. Can you provide this other employment or a tribute from what is earned?"

Outside of the room, with the door closed and the hammering of the fire giant continuing, it is unlikely that he will hear anything you have to say to each other.....

For future reference I will assume that Kythel made a rubbing of the etchings of the soulcage to look at later on...when he might have access to an NPC or library to help with the task....

You have plenty of time to regroup and heal before deciding where else you need to go or need to do.

Broccan tries not to make too much noise as he walks in his suit of plate covered in spikes.

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

I will count that as just walking in....

1d2 ⇒ 2
On a 1 the noise is familiar to the occupants of the room, on a 2 it is noticeably different....

Five hulking giants occupy this room, each with two heads. Each head has a porcine face with a shovel jaw and protruding lower canines like a boar’s tusks. The rest of the teeth are large and rotten. Their stringy hair is filthy, just like the rest of them....

Knowledge (Nature)

DC 16

Spoiler:
this two-headed giant is an ettin, a vicious and unpredictable nocturnal hunter. This result reveals all giant traits.

DC 21

Spoiler:
Though not particularly intelligent, ettins are skilled and cunning fighters. They are supremely strong and can fight very effectively with two weapons as each head controls one of its arms. Ettins speak a pidgin language of their own made up of a mix of Orc, Goblin and Giant.

DC 26

Spoiler:
Ettins have good senses and can see well in poor light conditions. They typically use ambushes to initiate combat, but then fight relentlessly until all enemies are dead. Ettins virtually never bathe and their stench is so strong that they almost always ambush from downwind to avoid being detected.

They look at you stupidly as you enter...

"Who are you?"

Another Ettin in the rear picks up on the conversation...
"We eats?....Yes eats!....Which one?.....We eats the man..."

"The man, which man?.....The man in black clothes, the other man is not so easy to eats."

There are three Ettins in a front rank holding morningstars, the conversing ettins are in the rear holding javelins and drawing them back to Throw!!!!

He casts Obscuring Mist in dead center between the Ettins.

"Let us leave while they are distracted, I see little value in combating these foes".

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Will you be sneaking through them to the area beyond or going back the way you came?

The ettin voices continue....inside the fog...
Hey I not see....me too...what this?....Does it burn?....I choke....bad gas.....you too slow....stupid man!....next time we see we all throw!"

The ettin voices fade away as you move away from them...just need to know where...

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

The Ettins are in area V9.

Are you continuing past them to the hallway V8 OR back to the common area V7?

Or are you splitting up?
