That should take him down a peg or two! Finish him, Broccan!
EDIT: Oops, don't get to double the extra Vital Strike dice. They're removed.
KenderKin |
Actually on a natural 20 I let the crit auto succeed and just double the damage....so 62 points is a good hit!
The fire giant....

"I would imagine that there is a lot of work to be done from where we come from though my allies would know better than I..."
As a gesture of good faith Kythel channels energy and include the Giant this time.

Alkaid Ingrid Bridgette Aiba |
"That sounds reasonable, and I also have heard of a smithing contest run in the town of torch once a year, Torch lies next to a volcano and uses even uses the heat from it for some of the forges.
And the prize the best smith is awarded is a number of official government contracts for the area with includes a number of other towns in the area for the year."
He also does not know what she really is.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Edrukk nods and points at Alkaid, "There be yer best bet. Mebbe better 'n what yer doin' today." He looks at the cage, "Speakin' o' that, what 'r ye doin' today? Seems a right fancy birdcage - and big, too!"
KenderKin |
"Well let me finish up this last one and we can meet up near cauldron....take a look at it if you like..."
How would he know???
He points at the weird coffin....
The coffin is further from the forge, which the giant cranks up to high as he begins once again hammering away on a price of heated metal....
You are far enough away not to be damaged by the heat.....
Bang, bang, bang, bangitty, bang, bang....it is impossible to talk with the giant hammering away....
KenderKin |
Alkaid is thinking the giant might know what she is, but that is not the case.......
This strange sight caught your attention Bone casket?
Obviously it is forged from silver and platinum and even melted down would hold great value.

Kythel said something to you.....
"I ca *clang* decipher *clang* many *clang* ions do not *clang*sense to *clang*".
Kythel realizes that the the lighting in the room is magical and that the furnace is utilizing magic to burn hotter than a normal forge....
Kythel
Interestingly the strange sarcophagus, though intricately etched with runes and writings most magical in nature the magic has yet to be cast onto it.....
KenderKin |
Apparently he agreed to not do any more after he finished this job...
AlkaidWhat did the giant think about this thing and what it is for?
Giant's thought edited for clarity
When the artifact is complete and a planar rift to the abyss opens I will be long gone....
Kythel of Nisroch |
Assuming the Giant is out of earshot.
"I do not know what all of that means but it cannot be good. We may well need to destroy these artifacts and the sooner the better! Shall we try to find Alec first or resolve this now?"
KenderKin |
Outside of the room, with the door closed and the hammering of the fire giant continuing, it is unlikely that he will hear anything you have to say to each other.....
For future reference I will assume that Kythel made a rubbing of the etchings of the soulcage to look at later on...when he might have access to an NPC or library to help with the task....
KenderKin |
I will count that as just walking in....
1d2 ⇒ 2
On a 1 the noise is familiar to the occupants of the room, on a 2 it is noticeably different....
Five hulking giants occupy this room, each with two heads. Each head has a porcine face with a shovel jaw and protruding lower canines like a boar’s tusks. The rest of the teeth are large and rotten. Their stringy hair is filthy, just like the rest of them....

One of the Ettins in the back appears to be talking to his second head...
"We hungry has mouths to feed....these not Alek....we can eat???"
Another Ettin in the rear picks up on the conversation...
"We eats?....Yes eats!....Which one?.....We eats the man..."
"The man, which man?.....The man in black clothes, the other man is not so easy to eats."
There are three Ettins in a front rank holding morningstars, the conversing ettins are in the rear holding javelins and drawing them back to Throw!!!!
Kythel of Nisroch |
Instead of negative energy the Cleric calls to Pharasma to cloak the Ettins in confusion.
He casts Obscuring Mist in dead center between the Ettins.
"Let us leave while they are distracted, I see little value in combating these foes".
KenderKin |
Will you be sneaking through them to the area beyond or going back the way you came?
The ettin voices continue....inside the fog...
Hey I not see....me too...what this?....Does it burn?....I choke....bad gas.....you too slow....stupid man!....next time we see we all throw!"
The ettin voices fade away as you move away from them...just need to know where...
