Buck Swashler |
Without hesitation, Buck sheathes his sword and accepts any and all sandwiches Jory will offer him. The he sits down on his step stool and chows down, while presumably important things related to this picture happen. His face is glowing with happiness and covered in sandwich crumbs.
THIS MAN IS TRULY A GIFT FROM ARQUEROS, WHERE DOES HE GET THESE?!
Shandor "The Beast" |
Shandor gladly accepts the sandwich. You can't be a world destroyer on an empty stomach, after all.
Not sure how you handle knowledge gleaned in earlier scenarios, GM. Shandor definitely recognizes that statue because he's seen another before, and knew which goddess it represented. Are you comfortable with him using his prior knowledge? If not no worries, I'll roleplay that he recognises the statue but has forgotten the name of the goddess it represents.

Shandor chuckles as he beholds the statue. "Of course it would be there. Meet Lissala, goddess of runes in ancient Thassilon. We're on the right track. "

"Shouldwetry... removingthe...whipandquill?" Buck says, barely managing to get the words out between bites.

Before doing anything foolish, Shandor studies the statue's magical aura.

Shayla Amye |
Shayla keeps her distance from the statue and keeps Suri by her side, expecting the statue to animate any second.
I've seen it happen too often... Better keep my distance while I can.
GM V |
You get the feeling that if you try your look you could receive great help from the statue or something less helpful. There are multiple auras and they are constantly changing. Theres everything from conjuration (healing), to enchantment, both good and bad and even a necromancy. Come on someone touch it how bad could it be?
Buck Swashler |
Seeing that nobody has reached out to collect the whip and quill, Buck will attempt to do so.
First, he gently wraps his remaining sandwiches, while whispering, "I'll come back for you," and places them down.
With one last wistful look, Buck hops forth and attempts to collect the items in question.

GM V |
You gain a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution, a +4 natural armor bonus to AC, a +5 competence bonus on Fortitude saves, and proficiency with all simple and martial weapons. Your base attack bonus equals your character level (which may give you multiple attacks).
You lose your spellcasting ability, including your ability to use spell activation or spell completion magic items, just as if the spells were no longer on your class list. For the next 3 minutes
Buck Swashler |
Is all of that for the next 3 minutes? Best. Statue. Ever.
Shandor "The Beast" |
Shandor shakes his head, knowing better than to trifle with potent magics.
I'll pass.
Shandor "The Beast" |
There only seems to be one way to explore, so let's go there (southwest).
Buck Swashler |
Unless the scouts want to scout, Buck will valiantly lead the way with his new found powers.
I am unstoppable now!

The rotted pews, the collapsed pulpit, and the giant Sihedron mosaic on the floor indicate that this room once housed Lissalan worshipers. A circular door set in the northern end of the eastern wall has no apparent handles or hinges, though an obviously magical key hole lies in the center of the door. Stone double doors also rest in the eastern wall, farther south.
“Opponents of the faith are not permitted within this sacred site,” A female figure says, then charges.

Shayla Amye |
Shayla double moves straight up to the enemy. "I decide where I go!"
"Suri, flank her!"
Suri the Leopard |
Suri does as Shayla commands and circles the western pews as she double moves to get in a flanking position with Shayla.

The creature is trapped in an icy prison but oddly doesnt seem to mind it that much as it snarls at you.
Keep on keeping on?

It takes 11 cold damage every round for 11 minutes. Is it enough to kill the creature?

Even after millennia of decay, this room’s decor indicates that it was more important than any other in the shrine. Tapestries and rugs show Thassilonians at work, at rest, and at play, as well as giants hauling massive blocks to construct monuments to their lords. In an alcove at the rear of the room, a seven-sided chancel rises two steps off the ground. Atop it stands a statue of a six-winged, half-snake, halfhuman woman with a Sihedron disc for a head. That same rune glows red-hot on the handle of the whip she holds in her outstretched arm. Thassilonian text is chiseled all around the perimeter of the chancel.
Floating in front of the statue is a man and you notice 2 other being in the corners!

The letter Naroth carries is correspondence from another of the wizard’s Lissalan allies, who informs him that the ally’s followers have discovered the location of Krune’s runic archive and will soon have the keywords to activate the refuge tokens.
Not only does the statue cast comprehend languages on anyone approaching within 10 feet, a magic mouth also activates if anyone approaches to within 5 feet. In
Thassilonian, the mouth declares, “Prostrate yourself and mark your flesh in honor of the Lady of Runes. Your service will be rewarded.” If one of you brands or strikes himself in any way while facing the statue, an instant summons activates and a refuge token appears, floating in front of him. This can be repeated up to 25 times before no more refuge tokens appear.
Now that the party has found the hidden cache, the keywords to speak while rending the tokens are all that remain before the Pathfinders can access Krune’s hidden location.
With the defeat of Naroth, the captured Shoanti are free from the subduing enchantments and are eager to return to their nearby lands. Haywood and Wattlee request that you escort them through the dangerous Wyvern Mountains back to Kaer Maga. Should you agree, Venture-Captain Heidmarch congratulates them on a job well done, and promises to keep them abreast of the Society plans regarding the Lissalan cultists, and to keep them in mind for future missions to thwart their sinister plan.
I will get chronicles out wednesday.
Shandor "The Beast" |
Fantastic, thanks for running this scenario, GM V!
Buck Swashler |
Buck has no desire to prostate himself before any evil deity! Thanks V!
Shayla Amye |
Shayla casts a curious look at the statue while sheathing her swords. "Hmm... I wonder what the reward is, though? It's not like I'm worshiping this evil goddess if I'm just taking an item here and leave."
She places her nail against the skin of her forearm and scratches, creating a minor wound. A refuge token then appears and starts floating in front of her. "Oookay... and what does this do?"

The trek with the horses is uneventful.
In the mountain valley, sparse trees sprout from cracks in the steep cliffs, bending in the direction of the constant, howling wind. Piles of scree litter the ground at the base of the cliffs.
In a hollow with a muddied brook, a hole in the mountainside opens up. It was clearly excavated recently—piles of soil and rock flank the opening.
A perfectly square tunnel the height of an ogre cuts through worked stone, leading to a chamber beyond.
Light from within reveals muddy tracks in the dust that coats the floor of the tunnel.
