The party makes it back past the pit trap and since the corridor gets wider moves into a 2 person wide marching order
A pool of luminous blue water lies in the center of this grand chamber. A spectacular fountain pours into the pool from the image of a winged beast, perhaps a sphinx, low on the north wall. From there, a pair of steep stone stairs ascend in switchbacks to the north, flanked by ornamental pillars and terminating at a stone doorway.
The pool is 5 feet deep. The landings are 10 ft high..so first landing 10t, second one 20 ft
Four skeletons guard this chamber-two on the middle landing and two on the highest landing-and each is armed with a shortbow and broken scimitar.

Aviendha-RK |
Aviendha walks up closer and draws her greatsword while dropping her shield. She knows skeletens need some hard hits from blunted weapons.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
The skeleton is 10 ft higher then you are Marcel (and there's a low wall between you as well)....it would need a reach weapon to attack you in melee..and although I think you'd be able to parry it..I think you'd need a reach weapon yourself to be able to make a ripost..all though I'll admit I'm not that sure how swashbucklers work
Dropping your shield while it's equipped is an move action..it seems like you double moved Aviendha..so you'd still have your shield (or you moved less)
Marcèl Lebeda |
I was thinking more of if it moved to the bottom of the stairs, but yes if it can attack me from where it is in melee, I can parry, if its not a melee attack, I cannot parry. And I cannot riposte unless I threaten.
Aviendha-RK |
It is a throwing shield (linked) so I can throw it at something as a free action (yes it seems kind of broken but you can hardly hit anything with it unless you are really lucky, believe me I have tried). Now she just wants to throw it in a corner (without breaking it) so that she can free up her hand quickly.
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan double moves into the room. I shall vanquish these foes!!!
Revvy Bitterleaf |
In return the skeletons start to fire arrows again
One will hang over the edge of the wall to try to hit Marcel from Above
To hit Marcel AC: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
One will try to hit Aviendha ..since she did toss away her shield

I thought Calistan could not speak ;)
Samuel Deland |
I think he's just deaf with burnt hands isn't he? Some deaf people can speak, my aunty is deaf and she can speak.
Marcèl Lebeda |
Ok, so parry didn't go off because he made a ranged attack.
And yes, deaf people can speak, but they often don't, as they cannot hear themselves.
Aldori: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Marcel moves up to the skeleton that attempted to attack him and slashes at him with his sword. Which isn't going to do much.
Samuel Deland |
Samuel moves into one of the skeletal enemies, drawing his light mace as he moves and holding his shield before him to rebuff any attacks from the creature.
"Marcèl, I fought these creatures during my Confirmation. You'll find something blunt far more effective than your saber!
Giving the swashbuckler a friendly smile, the Andoran prepares to face off against the undead before him.

"Stand aside Marcel, these creatures need a powerful swing to properly damage them. Your sword may word well on squishy targets but it is a bad fit for skeletons."
Marcèl Lebeda |
Noticing that his foil does not seem very effective against the skeletons, Marcel drops prone so that Aviendha can stand above him. Dropping prone is a free action, I've already used my Standard and move so it's the best I can do this round.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Samuel moves next to a skeleton
No claws...also it get's a bit iffy if the skeleton get's an AOO and I can't remember where you started from which will matter as well ..but if he gets it he will just not take it. I think you could have gotten there with a tumble as well..so let's just roll with it
Lasher jumps up and tries to chew on a tasty leg bone..but fails to shut his jaws around the bone
Aviendha also moves closer to the fray
You can't end your movement in the same square as another creature unless it is helpless (or have some weird feats or have a huge size difference). Also standing up will provoke from the skeleton....so all though I like the idea of what you are trying to do....the rules won't allow it (unless it's some swash buckler thing I'm not aware of)..I'm fine with you not dropping prone and still standing though.

@Marcel and Aviendha ;For when you find yourselves fighting in such thight space such as this..if Aviendha readies for when Marcel steps away from the skeleton Marcel could attack and step back 5ft, then Aviendha could move forward and stop in front of Marcel and still attack. I think you can do it all though it get's a bit iffy since you are not allowed to end your movement in the same square as someone else..but you are both moving at the same time..so by the time you stop moving the square should be empty.

I could be wrong, but I don't *think* you can do that. I'm sure there's a feat that allows you to do something similar.
Samuel watches as the skeleton rakes at the cat like creature, concerned for its safety. Taking advantage of the distraction, he brings his light mace down at the back of the skeletons skull.

Marcel leaps through the air to the other side of the skeleton and scores a telling blow!
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I'll look into if it's allowed, I'm not 100% sure if you could do it..but it seemed like it could work
Merrick takes some of the wounds away from Lasher while Lasher goes into a flurry of attack..missing most of it..but still is able to get a decent enough hit in to bring one skeleton down
So Samuel's attack doesn't take place
Marcel tumbles past the skeleton that's in from of him (and as a ready) Aviendha steps forward and attacks ..but fails to hit the skeleton ..then from the other side Marcel takes a very precise swing at the skeleton that brings it down as it's spine is cut in half.

Calistan continues to charge forward, shield and holy symbol drawn!

Aviendha-RK |

Okay, Samuel will use his first turn to double move north to engage that skeleton (can someone move me on the map, I'm at work again so don't have access.) Then he'll take this rounds action to attack the undead.
As the eidolon pulls the skeleton apart, Samuel moves past the remains and pushes further up the stairs with haste. Engaging the first skeleton he encounters he brings his light mace to bare against the creature.
Light Mace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Marcèl Lebeda |
Acrobatics/Derring-Do: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 7 + (3) = 20
Marcel moves to just behind Aviendha and then tumbles past the skeleton in front of her if that beats CMD+5.
I would have tried to simply jump over the skeleton and the ledge, but then I realized it's DC40 to jump 10 feet up, I'd have to roll a nat 20 and some 6s to hit that.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
This get's pretty weird..since you fails your acrobatics check to pass the skeleton (you don't beat it's CMD+5+2 for the other skeleton) so you lose the move action and provoke an attack of opportunity...but since Avienhda is in the square you would have to end your movement in...just to keep things going, ruling that you end up in the square behind Aviendha (or rather never left it..)
As Marcel tries to tumble through the legs of one of the skeletons he get's sidetracked by the legs of the skeletons next to it..unable to move further he has no choice but to roll back..which exposes his back to one of the skeletons claws
AOO vs Marcel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 but it seems to be a bit distracted by someone trying to tumble under him.
