After the Experiment returns to the rest of you and turns visible again you hang around for a while until ushers begin informing everyone in attendance to gather on the north lawn for a speech by the Master of Swords.
You make your way to the lower halls of Skyreach which are now nearly abandoned.
Just to give you some OOC info; if you animate the statue during your infiltration attempt you can cause a distraction which allows someone who failed a "infiltration" (= stealth of bluff check to re roll it with a +2 bonus. I'll take it you'll wait with animating the statue till you think it will cause the most distraction
Even though most of the fortress’s personnel are enjoying the festivities, there are still some Pathfinders patrolling the halls and watching for trouble.
As you are walking around inside you can hear commotion outside, you can't be 100% sure but it sounds almost as if an elephant is rampaging around outside and the screeches of birds flying all over the grounds can be heard as well accompanied by the growling of some large predators and the running feet and screams of humanoids trying to either get away - or towards said predators
Each time you travel from location to location you need to try to go unnoticed with either a stealth of bluff check, individual choice on which one. Thanks to Jolyrins intell you all get a +2 on stealth checks (not bluff) for this
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I think you should have some idea of the layout inside since otherwise you'd have no clue on where to go, so I've put the "map" of skyreach up as a link as well. Right now I'm working on the assumption that you are going towards the vault
Infiltration check from everyone to try to unnoticed on your ways to the vault(s) please

I don't see why you couldn't take 10 on that if you wanted
@The Profesional, inside the enemy base? It might ;)
The Ambitious also sneaks along with the rest of you (take 10 for 10+12=22)while the Leader just strolls through the place like he's supposed to be there. You notice a few people patroling but as the Leader just nods to them and continues his walk the rest of you manage to hide behind a pillar in some shadows and go unnoticed.
The basements descend into subbasments beneath Skyreach, in turn spiraling out like hollow roots to cryptic galleries hidden where few Pahfinders tread.
You manage to get to a hallway that is 10 feet wide, bears fine masornry walls and is peppered with doors of wood, stone and iron.
One of the doors is clearly labeled with a brass plaque inscribered with large letters: The Antarnicus Wing (= your destination for now)

Revvy Bitterleaf |
Minor, but most likely important detail which for some reason isn't in the door description. It has a (very good) lock and is locked
The Professional, with help from Marnarius is unable to find a trap on the door (or the lock), so it must not be trapped - otherwise a Professional surely would have spotted it, right?.
If you want you can use the disable device you just rolled on the lock to unlock it, or you can change your action based on the new information - that it has a lock
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Remembering that she lifted some key's from Janira not more then 2 hours ago the Professional decides to try to see if it will unlock the lock on this door
As she inserts the key there's an audible click and the door unlocks
Using the key bypasses an area fire trap with a DC of 30 to spot, but I still need a will save from the Professional, there's a second trap on the door with DC 30 to spot as well, which isn't turned of by using the key
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Assuming you open the door and look inside;
Rows of low shelves laden with scrolls, books, and the odd relic line this well-lit hall. At its far end stands a small fountain that emits a small amount of steam—enough to keep this dry room’s humidity constant. Six decorative columns, each one densely carved with animal imagery and fanciful whorls, stand along the walls, and a pair of lounging lizard statues rest on a dais at the north end of the room.

Shohiraj has an unsettling feeling wash over her

"What weapon are you supposed to be looking for? If everybody knows what to look out for we can move faster then."
Revvy Bitterleaf |
There is definitely magic around here, you pick up multiple aura's
As you spend more then a few moments looking inside you don't notice any traps but do see;
Most of the treasures here are simply field journals, rubbings, sketches, and boxes of broken pottery. The two northernmost shelves
bear the most impressive finds, including a dozen weapons, a handful of beaten silver plates, and a smaller collection of journals. To the east and west are two pools of mild acid used to strip dirt and stains from relics.

As you move further forward to take a closer look at the more impressive weapons you suddenly notices that the 2 big lizards on the dias are not statues at all, merely very still standing live ones..and if that wasn't bad enough, around 2 pillars near you are now uncoiling 2 previous very still and almost invisible chameleons

I agree, it's not clear..it looks like church benches on the map..so let's assume it's storage cabinets that don't fill the entire square since the pictures doesn't fill the entire square either and you can 5ft step past it
His longsword seems to reach a sort of barrier when he swings it at his target (protection from evil) but he's able to power on through it and then cuts 2 slices out of the creatures hide..but it seems to do a bit less damage the you'd expect from such a powerful hit against something living, somehow the creatures hide contracts around the wound and it almost doesn't bleed (flavor, it has some DR which you don't overcome with a long sword)
