Theadus Moravic |
dang, with Wulfgar pushing and Theadus pulling; the door ain't gonna go anywhere, 'sept off its hinges :)
As long as the door opens, I don't really care how we do it. Lol!
Luke_Parry |
After some concerted pushing and pulling (occasionally at cross-purposes), between them, Wulfgar and Theadus are able to lever the door open, revealing a central stairwell - downwards, after a few feet, it becomes completely choked with rubble, but the upper staircase appears to be intact.
Heading upstairs reveals a landing with a door...
1d100 ⇒ 85
...which is locked.
To be clear, in addition to the (locked) door, the staircase continues further up.
Let me know what you wish to do next :-)
EDIT: Also, feel free to place yourself in position in the central (stairwell) room.
Helm Akodo |
Helm moves to the fore and prepares to open the next door on the landing. "I am prepared," he says.
Do we have a lock-picker, or no? If yes, I'll wait for someone to pick the lock. If no, I'll try to kick it down again.
str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Helm Akodo |
Probably be best to roll both at the same time, then say if it's not trapped, you pick the lock. At least it would speed things up considerably.
Wulfgar Ivarson |
Naaa, I think a little discretion may be in order here
seeing the door on the fourth floor is also closed, he goes back down stairs, taking his crow bar out of his pack and says
Commrades, if elf thief not able to open that doorrrr, break it down we can, or try doorrrr on next floor
Edit: once I actually thought about going in, I decided it might not be my brightest moment. Wouldn't do for the groups cleric to turn up, I don't know, dead.
Luke_Parry |
Helm opens the door, and steps into the room.
Inside is an interesting sight: Two stone altars, one black and one white, sit at either end of this large chamber, which takes up two wings of the tower on this level. The crumbling remains of wooden benches sag in front of each altar beneath rotting ceiling tapestries. Carved symbols and writings snake along the walls. The burnt corpses of two more reptilian humanoids lie on the floor in the center of the room.
Of more immediate concern, however, are the animate skeletons in the room, both of which are surrounded by a halo of flame!
Theadus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Helm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sindre: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Ebonfeather: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Aeloran: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
BS: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Both flaming skeletons hustle forward to accost Helm...
Claw: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6, for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6, for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 damage.
...but both scrabble ineffectually at his armor.
Round 1: BS, Ebonfeather, Aeloran, Sindre, Wulfgar, Helm, Theadus
Party is up!
Sindre Oddrson |
"Cold from a distance," nods Sindre, as that is his expertise. He unleashes his spell.
RoF: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 4 = 14
for: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
I don't think they get Slowed as they don't have a Fort save. :\ 1.5x damage, though. :)
"I say we keep them far from us and I'll give everyone frosty arrows," Sindre suggests.
Theadus Moravic |
Theadus dives into the room laughing as he roars "You think your fire will hurt me!? Ha! I was born in flame you pathetic excuse for amonster!"
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 2 = 23
As he lands on the other side of Helm, he turns and swings at the first skeleton he sees.

Confirm Crit.: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage (Crit. Included): 4d6 + 8 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 2) + 8 = 19
Helm Akodo |
Helm takes a defensive stance and swings his blade at the air in an attempt to get back from the enemy.
katana attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Luke_Parry |
Ebonfeather tosses a sling stone, but it goes wide, and impacts on the ground.
Aeloran decides to maintain his distance.
Sindre tosses a ray of frost, but due to combat, and the wall in the way, the ray misses.
@Sindre: You don't have precise shot, so that is a total of -8 to hit, not -4...
Wulfgar hustles into the room, provoking an AoO...
Claw: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 2 = 14, for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage +1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire damage.
...which is turned aside by his armor. He then takes a swing at one of the skeletons, which it easily dodges.
Helm takes a swing at one of the skeletons...
1d6 ⇒ 2 Fire damage.
...but is distracted by the flames coruscating around him, and misses.
Theadus then bulls his way into the room, and splits the skeleton from skull to crotch...
...causing the skeleton to explode!
1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire damage. DC 11 Reflex save for half. Helm and Theadus only.
The remaining skeleton continues to harry Wulfgar...
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 damage +1d6 ⇒ 5 Fire damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9, for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 damage +1d6 ⇒ 3 Fire damage.
...but its claws are handily turned aside by his armor.
Round 2: BS, Ebonfeather, Aeloran, Sindre, Wulfgar, Helm, Theadus
Party is up!
Wulfgar Ivarson |
Wulfgar smiles, his right eye focusing with his left looking intently and the skeleton, laughing and saying
Bwa ha ha good bashing da, now other needs bashing too ha ha ha
And he proceeds to attack the skeleton with his greatsword
greatsword attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 for damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
just in case
reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Wulfgar Ivarson |
Wulfgar pulls his helmet off with his left hand, hooking it to his belt, waving to the team. he says
come, come, gather in circle; let me show you trick, learned to me by Old Zhrets
Once everyone injured has gathered around at least within 30 ft. he flings his long greasy hair back, and putting his left hand over his left eye. He starts to stare with his right eye. It turns from being rheumy shades of black and gray; becoming clear, like a snow globe no one has shaken; Instead of a house, or reindeer or a snowman, it is a mountainous stone encasing a greatsword. As Wulfgar looks at each injured person, not taking his hand off of his left eye, they begin to feel rejuvenated. including Wulfgar
Channel energy 1d6 ⇒ 2
After he is done, he laughs, replacing his helmet
Bwa ha ha good trick Da? Ha ha ha
not as many HP as I was hoping but it will help a little
Theadus Moravic |
Ref. Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Theadus takes the full brunt of the explosion, but only seems to suffer minor burns from it (Fire resistance 5). As he huddles in and feels the warm healing powers wash over him, he chuckles as he says "Well, maybe you're more useful than I had originally thought. My...thanks, I suppose."
Wulfgar Ivarson |
as Wulfgar places his helmet back on, his right eye returns to its rheumy grey and black and start to float and twitch. He looks at Sindre with his focused left eye, nodding and smiling he says,
da all things Gorum do beautiful
he then begins to look around the room using more mundane methods
totally forgot that Wulfgar had orisons
Helm Akodo |
"That is a nice trick, indeed," Helm says to Wulfgar. "It will prove useful to us going forward."
He begins to look around for another room. Not seeing any, he says "Should we continue upstairs?"
