The door easily bursts open under Wulfgar's ministrations.
Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.
Of more immediate concern, however, are the two small, lizard-like humanoids currently in the room, who appear rather displeased by the party bursting in like this!
Theadus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Helm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sindre: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Ebonfeather: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Aeloran: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
T: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Round 1: Wulfgar, Theadus, T, Sindre, Ebonfeather, Aeloran, Helm
Wulfgar and Theadus are up.
At the start of everyone's turn, I need two Fortitude saves (DC 11) to avoid being Sickened.
Also, the map has been updated.
Wulfgar Ivarson |
fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.
for my own clarification
Wulfgar's stomach churns and he just barely keeps from wrenching. He attacks the lizard to the left
Wraachh, Blin ... disgust...uugghhh...
greatsword attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 for damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 = 16
Helm Akodo |
Helm rushes into the room, easily shrugging off the stench as his dedicated training keeps him from giving in to any physical weakness.
He moves toward the creature on the left and swings his katana in an overhead chop.
"AI-YAH!!!" he yells.
Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Katana Power Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 for Katana damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 vs. flat-footed
crit?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 for Katana damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 If it hits, 23 total dmg
Sindre Oddrson |
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
"They smell worse than you, Wulfgar," comments Sindre. "I'll cool it off."
He says something in Skald and arcane speech, and 'frostflowers' explode like cold fireworks around the creature near Wulfgar.
Snapdragon Fireworks, Lvl2 using 1 instance of Irrisen Icemage. Lizard thingy needs a DC 16 Reflex save not to be dazzled, and a DC 15 Fort save not to be slowed, and takes 1d4 damage. I think it will take the damage and have to save not to be dazzled again next round if it's in the same place.
Snapdragon: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Theadus Moravic |
Fort. Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Undettered by the foul odor, Theadus rushes in and swings at the nearest reptilian creature he sees...
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
...but once again misses his mark.
Luke_Parry |
Wulfgar is overcome by the stench, and only manages a weak swing, which does not connect with his foe.
Theadus, likewise, has difficulty dealing with the stench, and whilst he manages to keep his breakfast down, he is unable to land a hit.
Both of the lizard-like humanoids gang-up on Theadus!
Claw: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 damage.
Bite: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 damage.
Bite: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 damage.
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 damage.
...however, despite a truly frenzied assault, one one blow manages to land, scoring a gash across Theadus' abdomen.
Sindre then strides into the room, and sets off a magical firework, which smacks into one of the lizard-like humanoids...
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11.
...leaving it reeling and sluggish.
Helm is quick to capitalize upon this, and hustles into the room, only to cleave the unfortunate creature in two!
Round 1: Wulfgar, Theadus, T, Sindre, Ebonfeather, Aeloran, Helm
Ebonfeather and Aeloran to finish Round 1. Wulfgar and Theadus to commence Round 2.
Ebonfeather Longclaw |
fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Ebonfeather is unable to quell his stomach. The noxious, smells hits his nostrils and he immediately starts to throw up. He moves up behind Wulfgar and waits for either the battle to end or an opportunity to present itself.
move behind Wulfgar and end turn
Luke_Parry |
Helm *did* crit for 23 points of damage. That takes it well beyond negative con, even from full hp (which it was not at).
Ebonfeather is sickened by the smell of the room, and staggers in behind Wulfgar.
Wulfgar then brings his greatsword around in a crushing blow, which drops the reptilian humanoid.
Combat over.
Now, this is a little unusual, but the room specifically calls out that you need APPRAISE, rather than Perception, to determine what is worth salvaging in this room - so give me some Appraise checks :-)
Helm Akodo |
Helm looks around at all the random pieces of equipment, but none of it looks to be of the quality of his land's weapons. He sniffs and prepares to move on.
appraise: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Ebonfeather Longclaw |
appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
While battling bouts of nausea and the overall stench, Ebonfeather looks around at what the young wretched creatures were hoarding. He than looks to Aeloran, the stench the creatures wallow in is horrible, even though my race has been known to feed on carrion.
Luke_Parry |
Ebonfeather is able to identify the following treasures amongst the large quantity of dross...
...a masterwork alchemical silver dagger, a masterwork light steel shield emblazoned with a leaping dolphin, and a banner depicting a bird made of living flame.
Let me know what you wish to do next :-)
Helm Akodo |
Really liking Wulfar...great job on the RP. :)
"We should try this last door...once everyone has gathered themselves," Helm suggests, his face stoic.
Helm Akodo |
Helm does a martial arts kick at the door.
str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Luke_Parry |
Helm bursts through the door, revealing...
Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor.
In addition, there is a dog-sized lizard in the middle of the room, which looks up, obviously excited, when the door bursts open. Hopping up on its hind-legs, its starts to beg...
However, its excitement has some decidedly abnormal results, as crackling electricity begins to arc all over its body, occasionally earthing in the ground around it.
Let's go into initiative for the moment.
Theadus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Helm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Sindre: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Ebonfeather: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Aeloran: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
SL: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Round 1: Ebonfeather, Sindre, Aeloran, Theadus, SL, Helm, Wulfgar
Let me know what you would like to do.
Ebonfeather Longclaw |
handle: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Everyone, let me try to treason with it. Maybe it is just hungry. Grab some err...meat from the slain bodies in the other room. Ebon then starts to make clicking and other natural noises to try and calm down the angry lizard. +4 skill-4 magical=0
Luke_Parry |
FYI, it is not angry - the lizard is quite happy - it thinks that it is going to be fed ;-)
Using Wild Empathy (I assume that is what you meant?), Ebonfeather manages to get the lizard to keeps its distance, allowing the party to search the room.
Disappointingly, there is nothing of interest contained within in.
What now?
Theadus Moravic |
Seeing that the lizard wants food, Theadus goes back into the room with the humaniod lizards, grabs one by the ankle, and drags it into the other room with the shocker lizard. "There, eat that." he hisses as he leaves the room to go join Wulfgar.
Theadus Moravic |
Theadus grits his fanged teeth as he grabs ahold of the door and pulls with all his stregth.
