[PFS - PbP Game Day 2] #3-21: The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (Inactive)

The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment:
In order to learn about the esoteric faith of the Empyreal Lord Korada, the PCs are sent by the Pathfinder Society to explore an abandoned aasimar temple to the benevolent deity. But what they find there is anything but an opportunity for peaceful reflection and enlightenment.

Looking players who:
- can make at least 1 post a day;
- are able to play during the period the PbP Game Day runs.

Other info:
- We'll start the 26th of April.
- We're running tier 1-2.

I have two other games starting at April 6, and currently run We Be goblins. The We Be Goblins party will continue with We Be Goblins Too when they're done and the Game Day has started.

I'll have a week filled with tests the week before this scenario will start, and I think GMing three games during that week should be the limit. After I've had my tests I'll have more time, and will be able to run this game as well :)

Doesn't matter to me. Whichever you'd prefer to play.

If you've really no preference, I'd say...

1. Whichever is higher level :-p

2. Maybe an oradin is somewhat similar to a cleric/fighter, and a bard would make a more rounded group.

I would be interested, I'm not certain what characters I have free, but will prepare a new one if none are - I'm certain one or more will be. I should be easily able to meet the one post per day requirement or better. Probably my Quadiran gnome sorcerer with elephant companion.

With Monk, fighter, and Kensai, looks like Bard would be better.

So I will update Will to reflect his entrance into PFS, as he was originally built for a game that died and I didn't know how to make normal avatars.

When I look in the list of Additional Resources, I find this:

"Pathfinder Player Companion

Only the 2nd printing of this book or the 1st printing augmented by the current errata (released 7/21/11) are legal for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play.
Everything in this book is legal for play with the following exceptions: a pseudodragon is not legal for purchase unless you're a wizard with the Improved Familiar feat, elephants are never legal for play, and armored kilts are not legal."

Yet I also find this:

"Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary

Animal Companions: ankylosaurus, aurochs, brachiosaurus, dire bat, dire rat, dolphin, elasmosaurus, electric eel, elephant/mastodon, frog, goblin dog, hyena, monitor lizard, moray eel, octopus, orca, pteranodon, rhinoceros, roc, squid, stegosaurus, triceratops, and tyrannosaurus; Familiars: all familiars listed on pages 131–133; Feats: none of the feats are legal for play for PCs, animal companions, or familiars unless specifically granted by another legal source. Other: all creatures in this book are legal for polymorph effects (including a druid's wild shape ability) within the boundaries of each spell or ability's parameters."

Do you have a clear source that states you can use an elephant as an animal companion?

I'd say the 'never allowed' is quite clear, meaning elephants aren't legal in PFS. Though it doesn't say so about mastodons. I'd say a mastodon as an animal companion is legal, according to the Additional Resources page.

And that brings the party to 6 :)

Yes, I believe so StephNyan, seems like he will not be quite finished with his current PBP before the 5th, but he should certainly be done by the 26th. He's a fun character who I will endeavour to try to keep from becoming too irritating ;)

While I doubt we have 26 days of chatter in us, would you me amicable to people joining the main thread for conversations and character introductions?

I'm not yet sure how the scenario will start, because I haven't yet received it. I will receive it the day after tomorrow. So I'd prefer the gameplay thread to stay empty. (Though you may dot it to have this game show up in your campaigns list.)

Do however feel free to make use of the discussion thread. You may talk about whatever you want there. Character introductions would be a nice way to see who you'll be playing with :)

Alia is currently on the last leg of The Slave Pits of Absalom (Tier 4-5), and this will give her a third level (likely cleric). Will she still be valid to play, at this tier?

@Alia: That's fine, as long as that scenario's finished when we start this :)

This scenario is Tier 1-5, and at level 3 Alia will qualify for the Tier.

Subtiers are determined by the party's average level, and this party qualifies just fine for Subtier 1-2. (The average would have to be 4 or 5 for you to end up in Subtier 4-5, because even at an average of level 3 you'd be playing Subtier 1-2.)
