Hakak peers in through the window of a study containing a round table surrounded by chairs, and the walls are replete with tome-laden bookshelves. A colorful gnome is perusing the book collection.
After trying all the windows, which are securely latched from the inside, Penthesilea looks into a chamber containing enough chairs, pillows, and desks to accommodate at least six visitors. After several seconds, a colorful gnome enters the chamber and sits in a chair to read a newspaper.
@Gray: The lock has seen better days, so have a go at it.
Takumi, seeing nothing on his side of the house, moves over to join Hakak and sees the gnome looking at his books. He tries waving to get his attention. Hearing Penthesilea, he looks over and calls out, "Penthesilea, what you knocking on the window for?"

You know Takumi, I have a feeling we might be being bamboozled. The last gnome wizard I met was a pyromancer, but an awful lot of them take a slyer angle on life.

Penthesilea heads back to join Gray. We know there's at least one or two hinky things going on. We should be careful.
Takumi, knowing that he is not suited for close encounters, wait outside the doorway in case they get jumped, but peer over Hakak's shoulders into the house curiously.
A large sofa sits awkwardly near the entrance, facing toward the center of the room. Sets of chairs and tables are arranged throughout, and statues of grandiose gnomes occupy the corners of the room. A set of stairs at the northern edge of the chamber leads to an unused basement filled with stacked newspapers. A second set of stairs leads up to an unfinished second floor.
Perception DC 14:
You note that despite the lack of dust on many surfaces, no one has been here for years.
A separate Perception DC 15:
The area under and adjacent to the sofa is trapped with a magical trap.
"Hmm, that is indeed strange. You see, there's hardly any dust in this place. But clearly, no one has lived here for years. So who are those two gnomes we saw through the windows?"
Penthesilea draws and strings her bow, but doesn't nock an arrow to it yet. Like I said, something hinky's going on; someone big should go first, just in case.
Hakak's first step into the room causes three devilish beetles to appear in and a puff of sulpuhuros smoke. They waste no time and immediately start to bite the intruder.
After being sure that the place is safe, while Penthesilea enters the room to the north, he goes to the one in the south where he saw the gnome. Appraching the other gnome, he asks, "Excuse me, are you Fimbrik? We apologise for tripping your summoning trap but we need to speak with you.

Hakak steps forward and grabs the gnome by the collar and lifts him four feet off the air. Hello Hakak says, You don't gnome me...feel free to laugh at that one...but my friends here are trying to be nice and they have more patience than me. I've just been attacked by a beetle, so my patience is a little, thin on the ground Hakak gives the Gnome a toothy grin So what say you parlay up and give us some information before my mood deteriorates
Intimidate skill check:
: You can use Intimidate to force an opponent to act friendly toward you for 1d6 × 10 minutes with a successful check. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target's Hit Dice + the target's Wisdom modifier. If successful, the target gives you the information you desire, takes actions that do not endanger it, or otherwise offers limited assistance. After the Intimidate expires, the target treats you as unfriendly and may report you to local authorities. If you fail this check by 5 or more, the target attempts to deceive you or otherwise hinder your activities.
Special: You also gain a +4 bonus on Intimidate checks if you are larger than your target and a –4 penalty on Intimidate checks if you are smaller than your target.

Penthesilea is used to being dismissed, she's used to being shouted down, but she's not used to being simply ignored. But after all, they're trespassing on either this gnome's house or his burglary, so she tries to be polite.
Whatcha reading? Are you Fimbrik or robbing Fimbrik?
