Kei nods vigorously. Yes! This kind of thing is always happening in these places! Curse me for not having any alchemist's fire. I should now better. I bet there are no spider swarms in the nearest opera house. I've never seen an opera, but I've seen more than one nest of spiders." Kei shudders "I want to go to an opera."

Sunnendel graciously accepts the meal offered by Toivo and offers some of his own. A halfling favorite stewed cony and potatoes.

Beginning to look far more troubled sunnendel shouts out

"I can do this all day," Toivo shouts back as he starts to focus again on drawing leaves and twigs from the nearby plant matter.

"Less chatting and more creative thinki--ARGH!" the dwarf barks everyone scatters and makes a clear path for the spiders.

"Well, that could've gone better, but I guess it could have gone much worse as well. You handled yourselves well!"

"Aye. Yes, lucky us," Khardum grumbles as he rubs the welts on his skin and shakes a few straggling spiders out of his beard. "What I wouldn't give for some of my mama's burn salve. Or a good, strong drink."

Kei shudders again. "It's good a few of us were prepared. Certainly a lesson learned for me."

That's almost impressive...
Finding a suitable path through the wilderness proves difficult, and you waste precious hours of daylight backtracking to avoid impassible obstacles.
You have the option to preform a forced march to make up for lost time.

![]() |

After dispersing the swarm of spiders, Toivo takes a moment to pick a few remaining leaves out of his beard and readjust his pack. He then gives the rest of the group his deadpan look and asks, "Well, are we going then?"
As the group runs across yet another blocked path, Toivo looks up at the late afternoon sky. We aren't going to make at this rate. Damn these woods are very different from the woods back home. No snow. He then heaves a heavy sigh. "We should go faster, aren't going to make it."
I don't mind forcing the march

"I'm for moving on." Toivo says as soon as it becomes apparent the dicision is being put to a vote.
As the other dwarf and halfling start talking about foods and likes, Tovivo gives a huff. In a low voice he says, "Typical dwarf, only focused on how filling something is... He stops for a second and in a lighter tone of voice continues. "I prefer a good salad or berries. 'though I do like venison and mushrooms as well but I can't stand fish."
In the first hour, Toivo tries to move too fast, constantly scouting ahead to make sure the path doesn't come to yet another dead, and comeing back every ten minutes to make a report.
Having exausted himself, he spends the next hour following the group, keeping a good pace. However, the stupidity of the first hour strikes him again during the third hour as he starts to lag behind the group. He resoutely doesn't say anything, though, and scowls away anyone who looks concerned, say "I'm fine, won't die from something like this."

Janira heals any NL damage you guys might still have.
As the sun sets, the dense forest opens to a wide clearing at the base of a sheer cliff. Thick vines cover the surface of the cliff stretching 30 feet overhead.
“Here! The cave entrance is behind those vines,” Janira says with a broad smile as she walks to the cliff’s face. She pulls back several layers of vegetation to reveal a narrow crack in the cliff’s surface.
“This is where I saw the gillmen enter.”
As she motions toward the aperture, the surrounding woods come alive with the sound of small animals fleeing some unseen danger and a large creature crashing through the undergrowth. The halfling worriedly remarks, “Quick, take cover before whatever it is spots us!”
As if she’d summoned the creature with her words, a massive horned monstrosity emerges from the trees. Standing eight feet tall on a pair of cloven hooves and wielding a tremendous axe, the bull-headed creature roars with unbridled anger when it spots the group.
Wisely assessing that a minotaur is beyond her charges’ capabilities, Janira screams, “A minotaur! There’s little chance we can stand against it. Take this bag,” she continues, pulling off her backpack, “and head deeper into the caves. Finish your mission. I’ll lead it away from the caves, lose it in the forest, and join you as soon as I can. Now go! GO!”
She heaves her backpack into the cave, casts a spell, and darts off toward the minotaur before turning to lure it away.
