Just to be clear, the rope was dropped as a coil at your feet and, I'm assuming, was given to you just in case you fall off the catwalk. No climbing is necessary as the door opened right onto the catwalk y'all are currently standing on. ;)
The creature's smoke form seems quite akin to the spell Gaseous form, which will likely make them resistant to damage. DR 10/magic.
As the intrepid Pathfinders prepare themselves for the worst, the sound of wind pouring from the vents below increases further. "I may not be able to physically help, but I think I can manifest another potion." Wulessa calls out, frustrated with her current guise as a winged statue, unable to move except to speak, "Just tell me what you need." As she speaks, the vapour below coalesces into a pair of evil looking misty creatures. Dull, red eyes, grasping claws, and leathery wings give the smokey forms a demonic aspect, but Danicka immediately recognises the creatures as Belkers: hateful air elementals.
Just say the word and one of the following potions will appear on the altar: blur, cure moderate wounds, enlarge person, or magic weapon, all at CL 8.
init, Danicka: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
init, Mhazruk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
init, Yaiho: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
init, Forrest: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
init, Brock: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
init, Belker: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
The maps are pretty cool, but in this case a little awkward. Both of the Belkers are on still on the floor below, 20' under your current level. The arrows show their rough position under you, and both creatures are large.

"Of course, here..." Wulessa says to Rook, and as she's speaking, a small brown glass bottle materialises on the altar, "This should help! Apply it to your weapon and even in their current form, you'll be able to hurt the hateful creatures." Just then the two Belkers fly upwards with the strengthening air current, hissing in a language most of you don't understand. "Remember, as real as they seem, this is all in your head! Concentrate on any inconsistencies in their form-" The two smokey creatures continue to rise until they are level with the Pathfinders, (provoking an AoOs, one each from Yaiho and Forrest) and they start enveloping Yaiho and Forrest, smoke all around, looking much more intimidating than intimidated, "Oh gods, no! This is what happened to Vianra... Don't breath in!"
With the creatures visible, Brock takes aim and *Click* starts cursing; his new gun has misfired.

Forrest waves his sword, but to no effect as the Belker as it menacingly envelopes him. One poorly timed breath later, the fiery halfing finds himself in all sorts of trouble as the thick vapour solidifies within his lungs and start scratching away at his insides. As Forrest doubles over, hacking up the invasive smoke, Yaiho swings his massive maul at the second creature approaching, and is rewarded by a pained hiss as the smokey form of the belker is momentarily torn apart by the tremendous force of the attack. Exhaling powerfully as he takes a second swing, Yaiho suffers none of the symptoms Forrest is currently dealing with, but is unfortunately unable to hurt the belker any more than he already has.
Danicka immediately sees through the illusion and blasts the belker harassing Yaiho with a sizeable blast of pure magical energy. The creature hisses in pain once again and is starting to look a little frayed around the edges. As the scroll crumbles to dust, Wulessa exclaims, "Look! See how the creatures flicker momentarily when you hurt them..."
While Brock discards his malfunctioning firearm in favour of his trusty heavy pick, Forrest manages to expel the belker from his lungs and steps away from all the smoke surrounding him. He then starts to distract the creature, hoping to give Rook a clear shot. Unfortunately Rook is too close to the smokey claws of the nearest belker, and it lashes out at the alchemist as he prepares his bomb. Despite the scratch to the face, however, Rook manages to release his bomb on target. It's unclear how much of the resultant smoke is from the explosion and how much is from the dissipating belkers, but when it clears, only one of the hateful air elementals remain.

Yeah, Yaiho in full-attack mode is a frightening sight. :)
I made a mistake in the last round, the belker is unable to use his claws while in his smokey form. As such, Rook can go back to full health, the scratch being even more superficial than he originally thought. ;)
The shadowy, smokey creature is subjected to an onslaught from the Pathfinders. Brock attacks with great force at the belker, it's form breaking apart momentarily as the heavy pick passes through. However, the only reward he gets for his efforts is a wary glance, the elemental's two red glowing eyes fix onto Brock's for a moment. While the creature is distracted, Forrest attacks from the other side flashing his rapier and taunting, but the creature doesn't even acknowledge the halfling's presence. Danicka, however, certainly gets the belker's attention as another blast of energy shoots into it's side. As it writhes in pain, Yaiho sets to work with hammer and tusk. It doesn't matter to the hulking half-orc that his target is largely insubstantial, he finds a way to injure it anyway, tearing the creature apart from the inside just as it attempted to do to him and Forrest. It's looking very ragged, and everyone but Yaiho can see the illusion flickering and fuzzing.
I'm afraid the DR is too strong for some of your attacks to work, although Brock came very close.

Rook finishes off the second belker much in the way he did the first: the explosion blowing apart what little cohesion the elemental had left after Yaiho and Danicka's assault. "Well done!" Wulessa exclaims, "The first time I was here, I... I lost a good friend. One of the creatures forced its way into her lungs and, well... she wasn't able to cough it up like you." She says sadly, and adds with a note of confusion, "Funny... I can't seem to remember her name."

As soon as the smoke clears, a hidden panel in the altar falls open. Inside is the icon Wulessa spoke of, but rather than gold, it appears to be made of glass. On top of the altar, the small brown bottle of oil Wulessa manifested at Rook's request, sits undisturbed.

I wonder if they noticed how the monsters ignored me and my weapon. Perhaps this will help next time. Forrest picks up the manifested Oil and then goes over to look at the icon Yaiho is holding. "Danicka, you always seem to have the answers. Do you know what this might be?"
Fourth fight... I'm not going to heal.

"Well, that certainly was delightful. I guess it's too much to hope that we can get out of here and paid without fighting any more creatures made of smoke and shadows."
As the group debates and decides and discovers what to do next, Brock gathers his musket back up and straps it to his pack, knowing that they didn't have an hour to spare for him to fix it.
Gripping his pick and making sure his buckler gun was primed he then stands ready to face the next magical nightmare he was sure was waiting right around the next corner.

@Brock: That was something that has been asked before, and yes, they consumed. How they are consumed while you are stuck in your own heads is never explained though... Perhaps we can just chalk it down to getting up to mischief between scenarios. :)
After healing her Yaiho and Forrest, Danicka regards the idol, looking at it very closely and searching her mind for answers. The glass idol depicts some kind of humanoid, with a bird's head and four feathered wings, and is wielding a wicked looking pike. Although her mind draws a blank on what sort of meaning the idol might hold, she does notice some... irregularities with its construction. The pike, for instance, is far too thin to be made of glass and not simply break off, in fact, it looks like Yaiho accidentally bent it a little when he picked it up in his big muscular hand, as if it is actually made of metal. Concentrating on this strange detail allows Danicka to see past the illusions of the room.
Wulessa's memories fade into a different reality as the stone walls again become glass. The room's dimensions remain the same, but the altar, catwalks, and vents all vanish. The statue remains, but its form distorts into that of a featureless humanoid, all signs of either demonic or Wulessa's likeness melting away. Beneath the statue, a glass portcullis blocks off another passageway. Opposite the passage and statue, the wall once again crumbles away into a fathomless void.
As in the room earlier, the checkerboard pattern of glowing and deep black glass shift and form images all over the walls and floor. Immediately next to the void, the tiles show an image of a young girl, sitting at the end of her bed, reading books. Underneath this image is a small pile of gold coins, and beside the image is an arrow leading towards another scene on the wall. This one is of a teenage girl at a desk, surrounded by books and writing something on parchment. The next image is of a young woman, now easily recognisable as Wulessa Yuul, exploring a ruin, a lantern held out in front of her as menacing shadows flick across the walls. Scenes like these fill the walls, depicting all sorts of interesting events, from battles with gnolls to negotiations with djinn, and under each successive scene, a larger pile of coins and valuables is shown. The last scene appears opposite the first, and shows Wulessa being wrapped up carefully in a scroll that is then placed reverently into an ornately carved chest.
Once you have had a moment to look at the scenes in detail, the floor starts to shift and form patterns of its own. The tiles form images of rats emerging from right under your feet heading towards the glass portcullis, their faces loosely resembling the Pathfinder whose feet they have just sprung from. Before the rats can exit the room, however, the image of an angry baker appears in front of you, standing directly under the statue, shaking her broom and generally trying to sweep away the rats from her kitchen. As soon as the rats have scattered, the images fade away, and the tiles return to their original pattern.
Suddenly, the statue jerkily takes a step down towards you with a look of fierce determination. With absolutely no subtlety, the animated statue raises it's two massive clenched fists and one by one, drops them with lightning speed towards the heads of Yaiho and Forrest.
Both Yaiho and Forrest get to make a will save to disbelieve yet another aggressive creature.
The room is dimly lit, but I'm going to assume Arin did his thing and made Brock's armour glow again, which should bath the whole room in normal light. ;)

As the world around them shifts, Danicka examines the images and illusions around her for clues and insights into the mindscape she finds herself in, but the whole experience makes her dizzy.
As the statue suddenly attacks Yaiho and Forrest, she shrieks, "Look out!"
Too late.
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
"Uhhh..." Danicka mutters, wracking her brain for information about these creatures. "These constructs are... terra-cotta soldiers!" she suddenly exclaims. "They've no anatomy or mind to speak of! They're resistant to magic and--" Suddenly realizing she's unlikely to harm this creature she remarks, "Oh, shucks!"
Weaknesses, please.
Knowing this creature would resist her spells, Danicka mutters a few strange words, then steps forward a few paces and places her hands upon Yaiho's shoulder.
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Casting cure light wounds, taking a five foot step forward and delivering the spell on Yaiho.

Prickles barks madly as the world shifts and changes again. He did not like this! Why must his pet go such weird places?
As his pet scurries forward like a meek little mouse and touches the big one, Prickles follows her, growling defensively at the big one (Yaiho), and the even bigger one beyond (the construct).

Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Hmmm.. probably not. I definitely want to Parry.
Parry!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
WHAT?!?! I was so confident in my 21! Nuts.
Forrest stops and stares at the incoming construct for a moment too long. "These ones look real, guys! " Then he is cut off by the very real fist hitting his face. He manages to stay standing, but his teeth and jaw may never be the same. He holds up his off hand. "Ish ok. Ish alright I got dish. " His tongue is swelling up, making his words catch in his throat. Nonetheless, he raises his rapier and tries to find a weak spot in the construct's armor.
Rapier: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Man, I remember Terracotta Soldiers being hard for a group of Level 3/4's. We need to pass our saves!

"Today, I start a list of Venture-Captains to avoid. And I am going to keep blowing these damned things to pieces till the person behind them shows his ugly face!" roars Rook while he maneuvers. Once in position he rears back and throws his remaining bomb with his full force.
Bomb (Touch): 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 19
Damage (Fire): 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 12
As the bomb explodes he starts to laugh.
Targeted the back square to avoid splashing others.

The constant changing of rooms and then the images of the Venture-Captains childhood only confuses Yaiho more while in these mental states that when the giant appears it gets a good hit on Yaiho.
Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Yaiho shouts, "ENOUGH! YAIHO CRUSH!" as he goes into a rage. Ignoring the damage to him caused by the construct and even the healing from Danicka, Yaiho then rams his maul into the construct and then bashes his head into the construct.

Danicka shrieks as Yaiho starts swinging around his earth breaker and head butting constructs.
"Eeeek!"

Must be the last fight, Yaiho just ate it
Brock grunts in appreciation as Yaiho does his thing to the construct. Looking down at his war pick he mutters, "Might not need this thing after all..."
Arin Qualnoh

Arin watches as the group gets to work on the next barrier to exiting this dream. When the stone warrior slams Forrest, he becomes a bit concerned at how hard the hit looks. The halfling likes to not show his pain too much, but that couldn't have been good. He quietly swings around the right side of the group to just behind Forrest and taps him with his own healing wand.
He's just about to softly announce his presence to Forrest when he remembers it's just going to come out in the wrong language anyway.
Wand of Cure Light Wounds, Forrest: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
| GM ShieldBug |
Forrest tries his best to shake off the terrible blow, and despite a possible concussion manages to jam his sword into a weak spot of the construct. His blow doesn't cause as much damage as he might expect from a fleshy opponent, but a small chunk of clay is nonetheless torn free from the giant. Then, Rook throws his remaining bomb at the terra-cotta soldier, hitting it sweetly and laughs as the explosion covers the statue in flames, turning it's body black. However, the damage seems to be purely cosmetic, and it prepares to swing another large fist at Yaiho's head.
By this point, Yaiho has had enough of this place and flies into a rage, startling Danicka, who's hand is still on his shoulder and magically healing his wounds. True to his word, Yaiho crushes! It's legs are shattered by the powerful swing of a hammer, and with the construct brought down to size, Yaiho finishes it off with a headbutt.
As the dust settles and the soldier starts to dissolve into shadow, Arin touches Forrest with his wand, healing the halfling of the wounds caused by the recent blow to the head.
COMBAT OVER!!!
Final status: Forrest (-3hp), Yaiho (-2hp)
The room is once again empty and quiet. The only movement is from the occasional glass brick breaking free from the edge and floating towards the void. The only apparent exit is blocked by an immovable, glass portcullis.
Yeah, all the monsters you've faced would scare me as a level 1 or 2 PC. :)
