He is being less than useless in this fight...
Orik Fistbreaker |
I don't think I can benefit from BoF since I wasn't within 30' of a targeted ally when the spell was cast. I was instead running for my life...If that' not right, I will gladly take the second attack if someone will notify me.
Orik looks amazed that his blow failed to hit the daemon but without waiting much longer, he lets loose with another attack, keeping his shield up to ward those next to him at the same time.

Remember a +2 AC for those adjacent to Orik, hopefully that means a miss on Oswin last round also
GM Lithrac |
Orik's slash wounds the ceustodaemon direly! The tide of battle appears to have turned. At least let's hope it has!
That very daemon strikes back at Orik, sensing the dwarf as his new most dangerous threat. Most of the savage onslaught rips off the dwarf's armor, though a last claw manages to penetrate it.

Ardisen Greymore |
Desperately trying to seperate himself from the combat, Ardisen tries to use the tight spaces to his advantage, weaving through the melee alongside one of the creatures. Aware he only has a handful of seconds left on his Shield the enchanter remains on the defensive.
Full defense with a 5ft step again.
Oswin Durnhelm |
Indeed Orik, your bonus saved my bacon! Current AC at 29. Keeping +2 bonus, keeping damage off critical now.
Oswin waots for Gamin's aid then swings twice at the vile daemon two more times!

Well, I'm going to give up being adjacent to Orik ftm. Osric will 5' next to Ardisen to block the other Daemon from the mage. This way if Rikas or Orik bring down the main baddie they can move near Hedra to take some heat off her. And IF the big guy goes down Ardisen would be effectively out if the melee.

Again, Aroden blessing help Hedra dodging the creature's attacks and she turned unarmed after them.

Thanks Oswin. If that blow fells the Purple Daemon, then Orik will 5' step as indicated on the map so he can use his saving shield (+2 AC bonus) for either Hedra or Oswin as an immediate action, if they are attacked by the beasties.
GM Lithrac |
Orik's blow is a powerful one, but the larger daemon is still standing. It takes a step back before attacking Rikas, though.

Eep! Well, guessing it's lights out for Rikas now.
Oswin Durnhelm |
Well, a 24 on my part hit it before, the issue is flanking. Any chance Ardisen carries his dagger in hand? Rikas' blow really ought to finish it if he can get his sneak attack. I'm not sure if you can be a flanking buddy in total defense, but this would be most efficeint. Even if Ardisen used a move action to draw his dagger, knowing the beast is so close to the end...
Oswin now turns his attention to one of the less formidable beasts [purple], continuing to utilize the Blessing of Fervor to gain added accuracy and defenses [+2 to attacks/AC].

I sure hope that confirms!
GM Lithrac |
As you point out, no one is flanking with Rikas - that's why the daemon 5-ft stepped there.
Rikas tries to stab the daemon, but the latter dodges all of the tiefling's attacks.
Oswin has obviously regained the favour of the gods, fod each of his swings is met with resounding success! The beast's resilience does halt part of his zeal, though. As a result, the daemon is also near death but still standing. Nice rolls - that is a confirmation indeed! DR is painfully high, though.
Recap: Pink and Purple are very close to drop!
Saving the Riftwardens! - Round 11
1. Oswin, Hedra, Rikas, Orik, Ardisen
2. Daemons
Ardisen Greymore |
Seeing the struggles of his dagger wielder ally, Ardisen shifts himself again, cursing the daemon for blocking his way. For the moment he remains on the defensive.
"Rikas, wait until I draw my dagger and get behind it to strike!"
I don't have access to the map atm, but Ardisen will take a 5 ft step south and remain on Full Defensive (by my count this is also his last round of Shield). If Rikas stays up, he can hold his action until I draw my dagger, then step in to flank and hopefully we'll drop this one.

Hedra Dreamcaster |

Hedra was badly bloodied but still standing. Again she asked her sword to help Oswin fight the daemon. Allying

Orik Fistbreaker |
Orik takes his clue from Hedra, and steps forward, his magical longsword swinging, trying to drop the Pink Daemon, but he stumbles a bit, and his swing is bad before it even begins.
He shouts a dwarvish curse at the great beast, and covers the seriously wounded Rikas with his shield, trying to draw the attacks and attention of the beastie.
Orik longsword, prayer: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Ooof, bad time for a natural one. Perhaps I should just let Oswin roll for me from now on. If it matters, I am now adjacent to Rikas and he can add my +2 shield bonus to his AC when the attacks come around.
Oswin Durnhelm |
No problem, I rolled like crap before we got into the hallway. I probably should have focus fired until pink was down. And if I had rolled better on damage, this would be moot. I guess I should have kept the +3 sword. Just because I've been able to hit alot, and losing 10 damage per hit is bad. I had 3 ways to bea this DR, bit bottled up in a pocket and burning a standard action while provoking seems like a bad way to do it. But align weapon or holy lance would get me there...

Oswin, don't you have a silver weapon in your equipment?
Will: 2d20 ⇒ (17, 16) = 33
Both daemons, though covered in golden dust, managed to avoid being blinded by Hedra's spell. Orik fumbles in front of the daemon, chipping the stone floor with a powerful but too imprecise strike.
The hulking daemon seeks to finish the job on Rikas, now seeing him as the worst threat in range. The tiefling dodges the creature's maw and a claw, but the second claw sweeps the rogue's legs with ease, leaving him unconscious and bleeding on the floor.

Orik Fistbreaker |
I thought I was from the first view, but I see there is a square in between now. My bad.
Orik loads up for one final attack against the pink Daemon, hoping one fo the others can tend to his fallen fellow. Even though the attack is well-prepared it isn't enough to score a hit on the quick Daemon. Orik maintains his shield coverage on Ardisen, and braces for the counter-attack.
Orik longsword +3, prayer: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Ardisen Greymore |
Orik has stepped to where Ardisen would have been, but it's fine because Ardisen will be 5ft stepping next to Rikas.
Ardisen flicks his wrist and allows his wand of infernal healing to flick into his hand.
"I'm guessing based on your heritage, you won't mind me using this."
The enchanter quickly activates the wand on the fallen tiefling in an attempt to keep the fallen scout alive.
GM Lithrac |
As Rickas and Hedra collapse, they appear to be out of danger - for now. The daemons turn their attention to those who remain standing. The larger one attacks Orik relentlessly, crazed by the scent of his own blood.

Actually, Ardisen's spell and Oswin's strike are just enough to drop the pink one (83+6+3=92, which means it's at -2), well done!
In a desperate attempt to bring the fight to a close, Ardisen drows the larger daemon in flames while Oswin brings Iomedae's holy furor down on the beast. The other one is Lady Jahani, who lies on the stone ground of the room where you invoked the tentacles.
