Sorry about the week with sparse posting, it's been a hectic time for me as far as work and family are concerned. Moreover, the motivation to GM online is just plainly gone these days, but don't worry - we'll finish this scenario in a (hopefully) timely fashion.

No worries, this scenario is plenty of fun so I won't have to force myself or anything. There's a reason I proposed it - I love that one!

You're not alone. I stopped GMing after a short stint in the GM chair for PbP. Didn't even complete the trilogy with one group (lost track while players were getting to the appropriate levels).

On vacation at Disneyland. Hotel has WiFi, but little time to post. May not be very responsive till Monday evening or Tues.

Ardisen contacted me with quite a conundrum. He's playing that character in three weeks' time at a convention, so we'll try to finish the game in that timeframe. I *may* take a few shortcuts to make sure that everything runs as quickly as we can. I'm also counting on everyone's good will to make it work.

Moreover, I'd like to offer my sincerest apologies for the slow posting rate. It's very, very far from what I'm usually able to offer.

My time these days is quite limited. If you need to bot Orik in order to move the game along for someone else, please feel free. He is rather one-dimensional anyway.

Back from Disney. We had a really fun trip, but man was it exhausting!

As for our situation, getting by this trap could turn the odds heavily in our favor. It might be worth another try at dispelling.

I've just added her on the map.

Ok, things might get hairy here. Wishing I had cast righteous might not holy smite. We've got 5 tough baddies with multiple attacks. Hopefully they each have to move and only get one this turn. But after that, maybe we should fall back? I want to save Jahani, but 2 warriors surrounded by 5 won't hold up for long.

Still, Oswin will be ready to fight it out if it takes all summer.

On the plus side, you're our two highest level characters, so if anyone has a chance it's you guys. In my experience, Pathfinder is pretty brutal on folk falling back, but I'm not there and the decision is yours to make.

I am panicked for 5 rounds which is already half over. I will be back in the fight soon, if you can hang on.

If Rikas can get a flank, he'd be willing to stay. Right now he doesn't want to barney with four large demons with just him and the cleric...

Silver Crusade

Male Human Cleric 11 | HP 102/102 | AC 32 T 12 FF 31 | CMD: 24 | Fort: +12 | Ref: +7 | Will: +14 | Init: +5 | Percep: +15 | SM: +11

And if I drop righteous might I'm a large creature swinging a 10' greatsword with no net AC loss.

With divine favor paying for Power Attack if needed and a newly +3 sword I can beat DR. And I can make that sword holy for 4 rounds.

I would estimate that if Rikas and I must tough it out alone, we can hang on for at least 2 or 3 rounds. And longer depending on what else Hedra has. Bleesing of Fervor gives us a good leg to stand on.

I figured blasting was good given creature types and the sheer number of valid targets. If the tentacles had grabbed even a couple of the bad guys once more, we'd be a lot better off.

Rikas may not be ready to flank with Oswin just yet from and in game standpoint, but if he tries he'll be pleasantly surprised. The problem is positioning so that one flanker doesn't get flanked himself.

Yeah, that's gonna be the killer. Little maneuvering room, and excess of creatures. Really, I just hope the tentacles can grab hold again, hahaha.

That said, if Rikas and Oswin stand side by side in the hallway, only 2 bad guys at most can face us at a time. If we try to flank one here, we could potentially both get flamked ourselves unless we try leading them off to one side.

And sorry for making this put to be too hard. If I was playing a barb. I'd just go rage smash.

If these were the 5-6 enemies I wouldn't really worry. At least their caster is out of it...

Tried to edit, no good. Ninja'd by our rogue.

Anyway, I too hope the tentacles grab a couple, but I think they get to go beore that happens again. At least there doesn't seem to be room for them all to attack us while escaping the area.

I guess let's see how bad off we are before deciding on trying for a flank or just hanging on for the cavalry.

It is a sound tactic. Bottle 'em up. Mental note to pick up something bigger than a dagger at some point... Relying on sneak attack sucks...

I've a prayer and bless left, to support you and some healing.
I also can give any one weapon you bear a +1 enhancement bonus thanks to the allying capacity of Gamin.

I've other spells, but against these creature, they will not be useful.

Yes, our options are so full of suck right now.

I could try to heal Hedra, but I'd need to pass 2 concentration checks. One for grappled, one to avoid and AOO.

I could cast Liberating Command on myself, same problem.

Or I could swing at the Xill one handed and hope for a lucky crit or two. Being grappled I cpuld still attack it, although it would be at a -2 penalty. -4 if I power attacked...

I could with Blessing of Fervor stand up without provoking.
I could cast my spell of the defensive without provoking.
I could teleport/dimentionnal door us near our comrades.
You heal everyone in the area, you, me and Rikas

Rather than taking 21 attacks by the creatures, we could take none for one turn at least (if they know where we are).

Forgot about the free stand up choice.

I'll take the +2 to AC this round.

Maybe you auto succeed at defensive casting, none f my casters are really built for it and have to roll well to do it.

Even if it only delays the inveitable, it was helpful.

If I'm going to be much use though I will need to get over a 10 on the die when I roll attacks.

Anway, with all 5 of us together hopefully the bad guys don't gang up so much.

EDIT:

It appears that Hedra pulled the whole group out into the hall where Orik was recovering from Panic, and now one of the Daemon's has appeared in pursuit.

Is that correct? Orik is now panic free, and able to act? Except his axe and shield are still where he left them in the other room?

If you need it, I still have a move and free action. I could draw my masterwork cold iron sword and drop if if them for you so you'd at least be armed. We might be better off with the +3 blade in Orik's hands.

I'm not gonna lie guys, I'm probably not gonna stay in this combat. I don't have the melee prowess, the AC or the Hit Points to back up any of you here and one or two stray blows could take me out. Not to mention, I only have six days until this character is needed elsewhere (now assuming he survives).

Take care Lithrac, we'll be here!

Ardisen, I do worry about their breath weapons, but if you can step near the middle, Orik Rikas and I can at least bar each of them. If we can bring one down, then start to gang up on them we should be able to turn this around. You don't happen to have any summons? Getting Rikas a flank would be a game changer for him.

As today is my last day of being able to post, my plan for Ardisen is once you reach the hostage in the room, he will escort her through the sewers and back to safety, leaving the rest of you to continue on your own, if that is what you want you're planning to do.

If the hostage is Lady Jodinaj, Ardisen will ensure her well being and once away from the group, discuss the possibly of her joining the Sovereign Court (for his Faction Journal), to succeed on that I need to pass a DC 14 + my character level (6) + 3 for each of the goals checked boxes (which is currently 0) for a total DC 20 Diplomacy check, which I automatically pass.

Are you all, and Lithrac, happy with that?

Grand Lodge

I'm fine with it, since I will assume that Orik and Oswin can take care of that daemon. Once the party is healed up, you will be able to free Jahani, which provides Ardisen with an exit. Since I'm the one at fault for delaying the game so much, I have no objection to let Ardisen leave early in this fashion. I'll send a PM shortly with the partial chronicle, and you may tick that goal on your faction card of course.

Cheers Lithrac. Despite my early departure I've enjoyed the game as always. Sorry for leaving you guys without, but I'd promised this character for a series of games and I don't want to let them down since I'm the groups social/arcane element.

Good luck with the rest of the adventure.
