The Pathfinders tie up Vos and attach a "leash" of rope to his bonds. The remaining hobgoblins (3) are tied up and locked in the barracks. The goblin snake aseri is pleased with the sight of the hobgoblin monk's head, and she departs the keep with no design on returning.
The party searches carefully, finding several other hidden rooms. There are two other secret armories. In one, the team finds a +1 ring of protection. Also, Pavo Vos' bastard sword is magical (+1 enhancement). Other equipment found is mostly of ordinary workmanship, though the suit of armor near the staircase up is masterwork full plate.
The team heads back to the site of the stairs leading down.
Do you want to rest before exploring further? There are plenty of rooms you could use safely.

GM Derek W |

Yes, the keep had two floors above ground, and you've covered them both. I tried to sort through the loot and tell you what is interesting. Most of it is mundane weapons and armor to justify the GP on the chronicle, or so it seems.

![]() |

Thanks.
"We have done well so far. I believe we should enjoy the fruits of our labor and rest before continuing further. Before we do rest, would anybody be interested in a permanent flame, that produces on heat? I still have the power to conjure them up occasionally."

![]() |

"I agree Adebisi" - Telurion comments - "I could go on, but there is no "I" in this group - I have learned long ago that those with casting abilities make, or break a group's efforts, and I have learned also to depend on them for some of the more important accomplishments one can ever carry out. Let us take our rest and recover. We will be all the better off for it"
Looking around, he adds - "Some of these rooms look defensible, mainly the secret ones - I say we bunk on one of them and rest for the time being"

GM Derek W |

The party finds a secure place and passes a restful enough night, despite the events of the past night. The team arises in the morning and readies themselves to descend to the basement level.
I'll move the team down tomorrow. Any spells or other preperatory actions?

![]() |

I adjusted my spell list slightly and will be casting longstrider (2 hours) on myself and mage armor (wand- 1 hour) before we descend.
If anybody wants a continual flame on one of their items, feel free to claim yesterdays.

GM Derek W |

The circular staircase descends for about 60 feet. Near the top lie the remians of three charred humans. Below them lies a deapitated human, nad a few feet farther, the bodies of four petrified hobgoblins. The team reaches the bottom of the stairs.
This semicircular room is drenched in blood. Detached body parts of both hobgoblins and humans lie strewn about amid fragments of ancient furniture and half-dried pools of blood, and broad spatters of blood decorate the walls. A circular staircase winds up into the ceiling, while to the south a large, beige stone door without handles appears to be the only other way out.
You see a small little man dancing among the cut-up body parts while dipping his litle hat in their blood. He is singing in a language some of you may recognize.
When he sees the group he invites you to join him.

Xathalial responds calmly, but does not approach.
Inevitable Sense Motive on validity of the Red Capped gnome-thing's response: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Though I'm sure he'll be quite proud and truthful.

GM Derek W |

Seeing that no one is interested in his offer, the little creature brandishes his scythe and braces to attack!
Initiative:
Xathaliel: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Birgit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Hawkwren: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Witley: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Adebisi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Telurion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Enemy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Round One:
Xathaliel
bad guy
Birgit
Telurion
Hawkwren
Witley
Adebisi

![]() |

"I am sorry I do not know your song!" Xathalial draws his bow while stepping to the square south of Telurion and fires once!
Single Shot, DA, PBS: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 1 = 241d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10

GM Derek W |

If your arrows are of any special material, let me know to potentially edit the following. Also, Adebisi and Birgit are on the stairs, so they are not in melee.
Xath's arrow hits the little man squarely, but clearly does not hurt him as much as Xath would have expected.
The fiendish little man jumps forward and swings his scythe at Telurion.
Telurion swings his bardiche as the monster closes in.
AOO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Telurion swings right over the creature's head.
The man then attacks Telurion.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Luckily, the blow is well off the mark!
Now Up:
Birgit
Telurion
Hawkwren
Witley
Adebisi
Please post when you can. We'll move to block initiative, so actions will be applied as posts are made.

Witley "Wit" Stills |

Poised to attack as always, Wit moves in an attempt to flank, running low to the ground and tumbling past the creature. He lashes out with a well-placed kick once he's by, the contact sending sparks flying into the air.
Move Action: Move to set up a flank with Birgit.
Acrobatics to avoid AoO at full speed: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Standard Action: Attack with unarmed strike
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Electric damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

![]() |

Ha, no special materials here. Xathalial "makes" all his own arrows (or in this case, uses looted arrows.) I try to keep all modifiers in the die roll name, as I have been. Sidenote: What knowledge to ID? Nature, IIRC?
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Hawkwren steps to the other side of Xath and fires an arrow at the creature.
KN: nature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
All of Hawk's arrows are Cold Iron.

GM Derek W |

That's OK. I have to get going to my local game night, I'll catch up later in the evening or first thing in the morning. Thanks for sticking with me guys! We're getting close.

GM Derek W |

It's knowledge nature to identify this guy. Hawk's roll obviously can't get you any info, but anyone else with it can try.
Witley nimbly repositions himself and lands a deft strike on the little creature. His fist doesn't seem to hurt it, but the electrical shock does!
Hawkwren's arrow is unable to strike home with so many allies in the way.
+4 cover bonus to AC for bad guy, otherwise it would have hit, sorry!
Birgit tries her hex.
Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
The foul creature remains awake! I think your DC is 15, right?
GMPC for Telurion
Telurion steps back and brings his bardiche down in a blow aimed to level the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 29
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
His blow rips open a deep cut, but not as deep as Telurion would normally expect with such a mighty blow.
Round 2
Now Up:
Xathaliel
bad guy - 21 damage taken
Birgit
Telurion
Hawkwren
Witley
Adebisi

![]() |

Knowledge (Nature) untrained: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Bah!
As he swings his weapon, and the efficiency is not what he had expected, he roars to the others - "Boys and girls! What the heck is going on? He seems resistant to my attacks!"
Turning to the creature, he growls - "What are you?"

![]() |

Xathalial will stay in his spot and fire, having mastered the art of defensively. (Does not provoke from Point Blank Mastery, gained at 3rd as a Zen Archer.)
Flurry of Blows, DA, PBS: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 = 151d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 11
Attack 2, separated for cleanliness: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 1 = 221d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 11

Witley "Wit" Stills |

Put off by the ineffectiveness of his previous attack, Wit kicks at the legs of the creature, trying to bring it down.
Full-Round Action: Flurry of blows; the first will be a trip. If successful, he'll then try to disarm. If not, he'll try to trip again.
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Disarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

GM Derek W |

Xath's first arrow misses, and while his second hits, it barely even breaks the creature's skin.
I have to own up - I messed up on his DR the first round - he's tougher than I thought. He was down 11 HP, now he's down 12. DR 10 sucks, I must say.
The creature strikes at Xath with his scythe, and then follows that up with a vicious kick from his heavy boot.
Scythe: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Kick: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Somehow both attacks are ineffective.
Witley flows into his battle stance, and sweeps the creature' slegs out from under him while knocking the scythe from his hands in the same swift motion!
Bad guy is disarmed and prone, but he's not going to come quietly.

![]() |

Hawkwren drops his bow and draws his sword as he steps in front of Tel and then south of the little bugger.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Not sure if Birgit provides flanking, so did not add it in.
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1) + 1 = 3 Hah! Love those rolls! Hawk's sword in cold iron btw.

GM Derek W |

Despite the creature being knocked prone, Hawk's sword clangs off the stone floor!
Another retcon, sorry. The creature's wounds begin to close up slightly.
Round 2, still to go in bold:
Xathaliel
bad guy - 12 total damage taken, 9 net damage
Birgit
Telurion
Hawkwren
Witley
Adebisi

![]() |

Telurion again swings his weapon against the creature - "And stay down!"
According to the map, Telurion is flanking with Wit.
Bardiche Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Wish someone would manage a Knowledge check on this guy :/

GM Derek W |

Will save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
The creature shakes off the worst of Birgit's hex.
-2 AC for one round
While Adebisi's fist strikes hime, he shrugs it off.
Telurion's bardiche hurts him, but again not very badly.
Clue: try using weapons with different materials. I.e. We don't know about cold iron becuase Hawk hasn't hit with it yet.
Round 3:
Xathaliel
bad guy: 14 net damage
Birgit
Telurion
Hawkwren
Witley
Adebisi

![]() |

Xathalial fires more mundane arrows!
Flurry of Blows, DA, pbs: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 141d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 11
above: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 251d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 12
Xath has Improved Unarmed Strike, so he does threaten with monk fists; I forgot!
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

I am trying not to push the envelope too far between what Telurion knows and what I (the player) suspect ;) Maybe next round it is acceptable to try and strike him with a weapon of different material. As a well behaved fighter, I have silver and cold iron :D

GM Derek W |

Right, that makes sense - as an experienced warrior, you'd likely make a change after a couple good solid hits didn't seem to be working so well.

GM Derek W |

Crap! I forgot the bad guy needs to go!
The little man reaches out to grab his scythe, provoking attacks from Witley, Hawkwren, Telurion, and Xathaliel.
Witley AOO: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 14
Hawkwren AOO: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 = 8
Telurion AOO: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Xath AOO: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The creature twists out of the way of Witley's foot, but feels the force of the other warriors, as Hawkren, Telurion, and Xath all land solid blows.
Hawk's swords cuts as it would normally, Telurion's weapon is still not fully effective. Xath's fist seems to cause no harm.

GM Derek W |

Weapon in hand, the man stands up, provoking another attack from Telurion.
Telurion AOO #2: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
The blow hits, but doesn't injure the enemy.
His wounds again heal just a little.
26 total net damage on the enemy.
Now Up:
Pathfinders - from here on I'll just resolve in actions in the irder posted.

More dakka!
Xathalial fires off more arrows!
Flurry of Blows, DA: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 131d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 101d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 101d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 14

BTW that 19 on the AoO was a crit threat.
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 1 = 22
Crit Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 1 = 4
Hawk swings again at the humanoid. Hold still, little blood hat man!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 1 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2) + 1 = 5

GM Derek W |

Thanks for catching that Hawkwren![/dice]
Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
The creature shakes off the effects of Birgit's hex. The Pathfinders try valiantly, but cannot land a hit.
Telurion drops his bardiche, and draws his greatsword as he steps forward, swing down at the man, and cutting a deep blow.
Telurion Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
The fiend attacks Telurion with both scythe and boot.
Scythe: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Kick: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
[ooc]With crit damage from before, plus Telurion's hit, less fast healing, this guy has taken 36 net damage.
Pathfinders!

Xathalial fires even more arrows! Good thing they found all these arrows!
Flurry of Blows, DA, PBS: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 = 271d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 131d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 = 231d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 14

More fist!
1d4
Don't you actually have to hit with a ranged touch for that (with .5 Wiz level to damage, Min 1), or am I confusing it with something else?

GM Derek W |

That's my understanding as well. Quote from CRB, bolding mine:
"Telekinetic Fist (Sp): As a standard action you can strike with a telekinetic fist, targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The telekinetic fist deals 1d4 points of bludgeoning damage + 1 for every two wizard levels you possess. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier."
There was a question about when the baddie stoop up. Please see my posts of 4:49 and 4:54 PM yesterday (times may be different for you). He spend two move actions to grab his weapon and then stand, provoking AOOs which were resolved both times.
