Walter tries the key, and the door swings open easily, on well-oiled hinges. It reveals a small entryway, about 10' square, with a second, wooden door straight ahead (this one's shut too).

Given that everyone else seems frozen with indecisiveness, Malfeas leaves his shadows and examines the door for traps, then, if it’s safe, does his best to open it, using his thieving skills if necessary.

Oops, I somehow missed that it was updated. I'd been waiting.
Naurin cast Guidance upon Mal's head. Maybe it will stick this time.

GM Derek W |

Mal can hear low sounds coming from the other side of the door. He is able to deftly swing it open without alerting those on the other side to his presence. Once open, Mla see a group of 5 goblins, one seated behind a large desk, in the room. They immediately make ready to attack!

Just as Dimitra is about to talk the Goblins into submission, Malfeas sends two arrows speeding to the group. She is sure that those arrows reinforce her speech.

Johann tosses a bomb at the goblin who would give him the best blast coverage of other goblins.
Note that Johann can exclude up to 3 squares from the blast, which he will do with any squares occupied by allies, and takes no penalty for throwing at a target in melee. Soft cover penalties still apply.

Mal's first arrows fells one of the goblin warriors, and his second strikes the female behind the desk, sending her to the ground as well.
Naurin casts her spell and then Dimitra demands that the goblins surrender.

Yes, unfortunately it is just big enough for that.
Gunther delays, waiting to see what happens up ahead. Mal's first shot downs another goblin, but his second can't quite strike true.
Naurin swaps her wands.
Dimitra shouts at a goblin, and it flies into a fury! It can't get near her, though, but it's so focused on her that it doesn't attack anyone else.
The last remaining goblin swings at Walter.

You can, who said you can't? The only issue is if you END in someones square.

Dimitra wrote:Stupid me, I thought you could move through opponents squares, but at a high acrobatics DC or provoke. Learned somethingYou can, who said you can't? The only issue is if you END in someones square.
Actually, you must make a high Acrobatics roll to go through a opponent's square. If you fail, you end up in front of the opponent (failing to go through the square) and provoke.

GM Derek W |

Right, the issue here is that I thought the goblin couldn't end his move in a valid square. I just looked at the stat block again. I thought as small creatures they only got 20' movement. Sorry!
Gunther strides forward and slashes at the uninjured goblin. The powerful blow shears the warrior nearly in half.
Walter's tab is not as successful, and misses the little craature.
We'll say that the angry goblin delayed.
With a path to Dimitra now clearing, the goblin scrambles towrds her, hoping to tear her throat out.

![]() |

Too complicated now, but we'll have to remember that 5 points of your damage would normally transfer to me with Life Link. We can just say Naurin ended it and then reestablished it afterwards.

![]() |

I am sorry Naurin. I forgot.
Boy this is tougher than table-top to remember these things...
and I forget there all the time!...lol! Ok, then Walter would be at full and you need a wand hit?

![]() |

No problem, and yes it can be much more difficult to remember, especially a detail like Life Link which really isn't about your character at all.
Naurin pulls her own wand out of her belt and heals herself, having been surprised - despite her knowledge of her own abilities - to find the sympathetic wounds that had formed on her, equivalent to the ones sustained by Walter. As she does so there is the familiar added glow and sparkle, almost making her skin luminescent - her fey heritage. She grits her teeth in annoyance, not pain.

GM Derek W |

After inspecting the next door, it proves to be unlocked and safe. The team moves forward. You find yourselves in a 10' wide hallway. You stand at the western end of the hall.
This long hallway stretches 110 feet from east to west and is periodically broken up by thick, iron portcullises. Several sets of doors can be seen at even intervals along the north and south walls, and at the far east end the hallway appears to terminate in a room filled with large cages. The floor of the hallway was recently swept, but spiderwebs the ceilings.

I don't see Naurin on the map?
Johann walks along the corridor, examining the portcullises and doors, heading towards the room with the cages.

GM Derek W |

Paizo site had fits earlier...
You find two sets of double doors, one each on the north and south sides of the hallway.
The portcullis is not locked, but is quite heavy. There is room for two of you to try to work together to lift it.
No traps on anything here.

![]() |

Yup, yup. For quite a while.
"I dislike the idea of going through one set of doors only to be ambushed from one or both sides", Naurin whispers.
Can the doors be tied shut or jammed shut somehow?

![]() |

Malfeas takes a look at the portcullis and then to Walter and Gunther expectantly. Taking up a position to cover them while they work, "Well, get on with it, it's not going to lift itself" he remarks with a wry grin.

![]() |

Naurin slaps--er, graces both Walter and Gunther about the back of the head with divine Guidance.

![]() |

Under her breath Dimitra starts singing a ditty about two bears that want to show off their big strength in a contest for a honey pot. Needles to say a female bear, being more smarter and dexterous gets the price.

![]() |

Walter frowns and looks at everyone.
I suppose I shall wait for Gunther's assistance then?
He bows to Naurin.
As I appreciate the help, I expect Abadar wants a piece of this too!
