Thistle's heart stops in his chest at the sight of his elven friend turning into a statue. Breath is hard to come by as he wracks his brain to figure out how to stop this from happening, but nothing comes to him. He is powerless to reverse it.

At least right now he is. The only way to save him is to destroy the vault keeper first.

Thistle's reaction is exactly that, reactionary. A pulse of life flows out from him, though the wave seems to crash on breakers before washing over the vault keeper, splitting wide and not touching him. The Nagaji looks forlornly at the statue of his elven friend, hoping an impossible hope that the life giving force might break him from his stoney shell.

The spire transport tokens lying around should make it a bit easier to lug a statue up. Or, you can just go up and grab a scroll, and save yourself the trouble.

I actually don't have the UMD skill - I don't think I can cast it from the scroll. Is it possible to retcon and say we brought his stone statue up to the city to have it restored? I think the costs are pretty much the same...

Thistle wakes up from a bad daydream involving Jelani, a scroll, and Thistle's inability to cast a spell from it. The mighty bloodrager then lifts Caranthir off his makeshift plinth and lugs him to the nearest branch of the emerald spire's root. With a transport token, they party zaps all the way up to the darkened first level, where the remains of clanky the robot are rusting in the forest air.

The clerics of fort Inevitable take on Caranthir, muttering something about ...poor hygiene, all that caked-on mud...

Caranthir feels his thoughts coming back to him, while the cleric instruct him you may have some trouble with your eyesight at first. Just remember, once you start seeing a big green blur instead of a big black blur, that's just where we live.

After the party makes it descent back down, the stiffness in Caranthir's bones has worn off, and the party can return to exploring.

One bad roll...but glad to be back!

Caranthir has been fairly quiet since his ordeal of being turned into stone, but seems glad to be moving again.

"What a horrible fate that would have been," he says, thanking his companions for getting him out and restored the use of his mobility.

"I anticipate we are close to the end," he says. "I am eager for a rematch with that creature..."

Thistle keeps to himself, not wanting to prod the recently restored elf while he is brooding. When they return, he nods his head in agreement before casting a handful of spells in preparation.

Quickstepping forward, he slides in next to Bruce and close to the creature. Reaching out his hand into the flames, he grabs the crusader's shoulder and imparts a blessing of protection on him.

Cast Communal Resist Energy Fire. Bruce is the only one I can touch, so the duration just gets divided between the two of us, so we both have it. Bruce now has resist fire 30. Free light, and likely no fire damage, unless it escalates somehow.
