"Do you have feats and traits? Didn't see then on your character page."
Yes. I just edited my entry to say that I will add all my details by tomorrow. Spending ALL night (and not finishing dinner!) so intent am I on completing my character.. It's a LOT of work (but fun too) when you are so new and have to look everything up and cross reference for PFS!!

![]() |

No worries! This is my first divine character ever, so I may hit into some bumps and snags later on, but it'll be good once I get the hang of it. I can say, that after playing Pathfinder for a year, I'm still learning on what to do when weird stuff happens. I'm still trying an easy way to get my Dwarf's stat block up, but he's leveled again... I'll link to him once I'm finished, haha.

DM Kludde |

Janira passes out writing supplies and paper to anyone who doesn't have it. All good to go?
I'll set up the first encounter later today

![]() |

Guess I should get to bed as soon as I get home then, haha. Sucks not being able to move tokens from my kindle. That, and only able to move 3 squares per round, unless I double, makes things interesting.
Thank you Miss Janira! These will come quite in handy!
Triblin smiles as he packs away the paper and writing utensils.

![]() |

If anyone gets knocked unconscious, oh boy can I help! Rebuke death, channels, healing, and stabilization checks without risk of AoOs. Too bad my legs are so short.

![]() |

I really am trying to remember to post as Kendra, but still not habit... :( I guess after a certain point there's no way to edit the post?

![]() |

My character build favors ranged attacks on good initiative before others get into melee with foes - She's not particularly powerful at 1st level, but she can help disable foes so the warriors can more easily deal deadly blows before the monsters get their chance for revenge!

DM Kludde |

The first leg of travel leads the party through the Cairnlands, a broken wasteland strewn with siege fortresses of old, silent witnesses of the attacks that Absalom endured in the past. Janeiro wastes no time pointing them out: ...that if the Fallen Fortress, magically closed until an earthquake shook it down. And there, the red redoubt, the mighty fortress of the wizard Karamoss...
As the party progresses deeper into the forest, the trees towering overhead begin to shield most of what remains of the day’s sun and the vegetation beneath grows denser. Janira pauses a moment and pulls out an intricate silver compass emblazoned with the Pathfinder Society logo: the Glyph of the Open Road. “I received this wayfinder when I successfully completed my Confirmation. Should we be successful on our journey, you will get your own as well.”
She flips open the device and holds it in front of her; the initials J. L. are engraved into the inside of the device’s lid. After studying the compass inside for a moment, she remarks, “We’re on the right path. We need to keep heading northwest past those large rocks up ahead.”

"Scatter! Nantas, your 'fire!" She yells moving away from the party and the swarm.

No, just damage for Nantas

![]() |

Olga uses her Marital Flexibility to grab Throw Anything as a move action, then paces away to create some distance between her and the mosquitos.
"Nantas! Quickly, move away! I'm gonna try to hit it with some of that alchemical fire I bought earlier today!"

![]() |

Oh dear, this isn't good! And those bugs don't seem to be helping any!
Triblin hurries to be close to Janira, clumsily but managing to run past, rather than through the cloud of mosquitos.

Kendra observes a moment, then calmly but swiftly moves out of the way and in line with Janiera and Triblin.
Oh my. I'm feeling lost already! Gotta go read play rules... I hope I wind up being a quick study! In real life, I had a lot of verbal guidance regarding what I could do in terms of actions. Have only played 3 anykindof- roleplay - real life games-ever! I have 30 ft. speed, so my movement is ok..I hope.. Oh.. and I corrected my initiative on the map!

![]() |

No worries! Looks like your move is legal, so that should be alright. I'll be acting next round with something, but it might not be good, flavor wise.

I Appreciate any guidance, thanks!

Collecting her thoughts, Nantas turns and lobs his alchemical fire at the closest square of Skeeters ...Whereas this move is not legal:
- Move action to get out of swarm
- Move action to grab Alchemist Fire
- Standard action to throw
I count one too many here.. ;)

DM Kludde |

Olga move away from the swarm, and Nantas moves out of it, grabbing his alchemist's fire (You can throw next round). Kendra scrambles out as well, as does Triblin.

Suggestion? Looks like both Nantas and Olga were going to throw alchemical fire. I don't know how dangerous this swarm is, but why not have just one use alchemical- so that we have another one left if we need it? Again, this from a beginner, but seems one might be enough to ward this annoying mass for now...Kendra does not have alchemical fire, and that swarm or something else might require it again later.

![]() |

you'll note mantas missed causing just splash damage of 1 point ... Not enough. Hence using two. If you see someone kill the thing then you would not also throw. Note also that I did it wrong, I used a move action, and pulling it is a second move action, next round I can throw. Also, I had to look up "splash weapon" to see how it works for sure

![]() |

ah.. so I'm not the only one that has to look things up :) I was just reading the rules about actions and such...
Oh yeah.. Definitely had to read up on splash damage to understand what you were writing.. and still not *quite* sure, but I get the general idea! :)

![]() |

As Kendra stands back, watching poor Nantas fling herself around in her effort to escape the bloodsuckers, she wonders if her prepared spells were such good choices....
eh.. acid splash spell would be useful here..I hope Olga's alchemical throw does the trick... I'd hate to have to use my dagger(bonded object) to bring up a spell for a stupid swarm instead of using it for more... noble purposes (some great ugly cave worm or whatever..)

I thought it was suspicious that you never saw Janira and the swarm in the same place at the same time, perhaps those suspicions were wrong and it was Doctor Najib the whole time. ~Meddling Kid
Shonne has no alchemical fire, as it seems to flow like sap through the party and because of previous experience with similar chemicals but, she did get a look at the swarm last round--any info? Does it have any other weaknesses? Trail rations perhaps? Does she have a skin type that attracts the buggers? If she thinks she can outrun their flight speed she offers herself up as distraction even though alchemy seems to be her own weak point. Otherwise she holds her action and waits for the fireworks to begin.

![]() |

Shonne- good questions- wish the character had yelled that out so Kendra could just respond with a roll.. but instead, I'll summarize...
Kendra thinks for a moment...
If alchemist fire fails..what else can we do with these nasties...
knowledge-nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

![]() |

Sounds good to me, but do we know we CAN outrun them? If not, will it just make them angrier as they chase us? Never encountered a swarm before

DM Kludde |

The swarm flies at a speed that is slightly faster than a human can run (40 feet), so in a chase, the swarm would catch up. A strong breeze would blow them away, though, and maybe they would be attracted to trail rations. If it's particularly sticky...

![]() |

Hikage remains silent for most of the journey, though he is quite taken by the halfling's stories. He eyes the wayfinder with the utmost curiosity.
Upon the insect's attack, he steps back, grabs his vial of alchemist's fire and throws it at the swarm.
Alchemist's Fire (RTA): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Not sure if I'm out of turn here or if yelling is an actual action, but
THEY'RE TOO FAST TO OUTRUN! Kendra yells towards Nantas, among the chaos of the moment.
IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING STICKY- HONEY OR MOLASSES, TOSS IT THEIR WAY.. THAT MAY DISTRACT THEM!

DM Kludde |

Hikage shows calmness as he lights up the ground under the mosquitoes. In the hot updraft, many of the little gnats burn up.
Janira joins in by retrieving her own flask, and throwing it at the gnats as well
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d6 ⇒ 6
The ground under the mosquitoes is ablaze, and although the swarm still tries to move to its next target, the hot fires burn any remaining bug to a crisp. A cloud of black flakes rises up from the forest floor.
Combat over
Well done! We'd better put that out Janira says, pointing at the fire, [b]or we might attract worse.
----
As the group moves on, the path becomes rougher and obstacles are more frequent. Fallen tree, overgrown shortcuts and heavy rocks on the path hamper the progress of the pathfinders.
Can I have a Survival check?

![]() |

"You're right. The furthest we move from here, the less we'll risk. I may find a path around these obstacles if you don't mind. I'm used to the wilds."
Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

So, aside from Olga, anyone else have a peppermint stick? I can use it to heal everyone up who has been hurt, and split charges. Also, for wand of clw, would you like out of combat heals to be 6/5 or straight up rolls?
The gnome rushes towards the fire, and starts to throw dirt on it to smother the flames.
Miss Olga, would mind if I used your wand on Nantas? I don't have one yet.
Triblin fumbles about with the large woman's wand. Looking around, as well as keeping an ear out for an answer, his eyes scan the area.
Survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Miss Olga, would mind if I used your wand on Nantas? I don't have one yet.
"Of course master gnome, not a problem at all, you see! Like I said, I'm just nervous we might not complete the mission at hand, you see! I don't want to think about what my father might say if I failed my confirmation, you see!"

![]() |

It seems we've met our first challenge, though I'm suspicious this was hardly difficult relatively speaking. How are you faring there Nantas?
Kendra walks to Nantas and offers a supportive hand on her scaly arm (if she has one?).
As for the mission at hand, She look towards Olga and projects her voice..
Tis fortunate that we are a team with strengths to complement one another.
She glances at Triblin, and nods her way, acknowledging her helpful gesture of healing towards Nantas.
Even as her hand rests on Nantas, Kendra is eyeing the landscape warily, doing her best to anticipate any more surprises.

![]() |

Survival (in forest) aiding Hikage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

DM Kludde |

The party makes good progress despite the obstacles in the terrain, and soon Janira says We should be close now
The dense forest opens to a wide clearing at the base of a sheer cliff. Thick vines cover the surface of the cliff stretching 30 feet overhead. “Here! The cave entrance is behind those vines,” Janira says with a broad smile as she walks to the cliff’s face. She pulls back several layers of vegetation to reveal a narrow crack in the cliff’s surface. “This is where I saw the gillmen enter.”
As she motions toward the aperture, the surrounding woods come alive with the sound of small animals fleeing some unseen danger and a large creature crashing through the undergrowth.
The halfling worriedly remarks, “Quick, take cover before whatever it is spots us!” As if she’d summoned the creature with her words, a massive horned monstrosity emerges from the trees. Standing eight feet tall on a pair of cloven hooves and wielding a tremendous axe, the bull-headed creature roars with unbridled anger when it spots the group.
Wisely assessing that a minotaur is beyond her charges’ capabilities, Janira screams, “A minotaur! There’s little chance we can stand against it. Take this bag,” she continues, pulling off her backpack, “and head deeper into the caves. Finish your mission. I’ll lead it away from the caves, lose it in the forest, and join you as soon as I can. Now go! GO!” She heaves her backpack into the cave, casts a spell, and darts off toward the minotaur before turning to lure it away.

![]() |

Spellcraft (what spell): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Shonne takes the pack. "Quickly through the gap!"

![]() |

Kendra runs toward the crack, pausing to let a few others in before her.
If there are minotaurs outside, I'm intrigued about what lies within
Since this is a cave with unknown beings within, Kendra pulls out her hooded lantern and checks that her dagger is close at hand.

![]() |

Olga hurries towards the cave entrance on her short legs. When everyone is inside, she lights her ioun stone. She is breathing heavily and has a face red from exertion.
"It's... no longer.... behind us, is it? Is everybody.... ok? What... about... Janira? A minotaur, by... the gods! Did you see... that axe!?

![]() |

Hikaru follows Janira's orders obediently, entering the cave without questioning her judgement.

At the first opportunity, Shonne goes through the bag to see if there's anything useful.

"Yes, yes! Into the cave!"

![]() |

WAAAAAAAAAAIT FOR ME!
Triblin's short legs bring him following last, as the group enters the cave. Catching his breath, the little gnome looks at the others, then towards the entrance.
Oh dear, I hope she does alright..... That beast looked quite nasty! As for you Nantas.... Well, it's a bit late now, haha!
Triblin always asks to use another's wands, as it's because of how he was raised to be polite. Also, if we are underground, my dodge AC is increased by +2, so I'll reflect that on my stat line.

DM Kludde |

She cast Glitterdust. That should buy her some time.
The sound of battle fades as the pathfinders move deeper into the cave, and is replaced by the sound of dripping water and the distant rushing of a stream. Luminescent fungus gives the cave an eerie glow. Occasionally, a small symbol is carved into the cave wave wall. Some of the older ones have formed a natural platform for the luminescent fungus, giving it an eerie glow.
Catching their breath, Shonne finds a moment to check what is in the backpack. The pack is well-organised, with meticulously labelled items.
potion of barkskin,
potions of cure light wounds (2),
potion of feather step,
potion of vanish,
scroll of entangle,
scroll of gust of wind,
scroll of identify,
scroll of mage armor (CL 6),
scroll of obscuring mist,
wand of burning hands (CL 3rd, 4 charges),
wand of cure light wounds (CL 3rd, 8 charges),
acid,
alchemist’s fire (2),
holy water,
smokestick,
tanglefoot bag,
thunderstone;
antitoxin,
sunrods (2)
GM roll!: 1d6 ⇒ 3
The narrow tunnel twists and turns for several hundred feet before slowly opening to a wider passage. A large hole spans the cave’s width and stretches ten feet down the path. At the bottom of the pit lies a small bundle of cloth.

![]() |

Shonne reveals the bag's contents. We should try and distribute this logically within the party. scrolls and wands to casters (Kendra probably gets the wand of burning hands, and Nantas or Triblin probably gets another healing stick) who can cast them, or if anyone has really good Use Magic Item as a skill, potions to everyone else, thrown items to people with a good pitching arm (alchemist fire to those who tossed theirs earlier?), and sundries to whomever it makes the most sense to (humans should probably get the sunrods). I'm would like Shonne to get some of the following, tanglefoot bag, antitoxin, potion of cure light wounds, and either the potion of barkskin or featherstep. The former because of her poor AC the latter because it synches well with her overall mobility.
Is the eerie light enough to see by?

![]() |

Fight you for them lemme just sip these potions.... Barkskin should probably go to you or Olga, (I rescind any claim) but speed through difficult terrain with a healing potion might be good too. We are pretty fragile. So I'm pushing for Shonne keeping the potions of Featherstep and one CLW.
