Desperate times call for desperate measures Ms. Olga!
| DM Kludde |
Nantas pushes back the skeleton even more, clearing the way for Hikage and Olga to rush in. Hikage misses, but Olga bring in a mighty crushing blow, which crushes the skull of the skeleton, and causes the rest to collapse into a lifeless pile of bones.
Combat over!
The dead, dark creature in the middle of the room is a dhampir, and his gear contains a journal page that contains a delusional rant about 'starting an own army of the undead', and 'fish people feeding his desires'. It looks like these skeletons were gillmen...
He was carrying a magical ring and some bracers. (Spellcraft to identify)

"Well done, Olga. That was a bold move." states the wayang in a matter-of-fact tone, with a hint of admiration. "It looks like we cleared this part, which is also a dead end. Shall we explore and cleanse the other cave? Duty compels us to aid that unfortunate gillman, and to announce him the dire news - his companions were slaughtered by a madman."
Triblin Runlark
|
I, I fully agree! What sort or madness would defile the dead in such a manner! T-t-to keep one's soul from the afterlife is horrid!
Triblin, after reading the note involving necromancy, seems to be quite angered at the mention of undead minions, let alone an army. Calming himself down, the gnome seems to look at everyone, examining them.
Are any of you hurt?

I'm sorry to see now that they were Gillmen previously....Well, at least you all managed to put them finally to rest...
What have we here? she asks as she focuses on the heap 'o dark creature...

I would try Spellcraft, but I'm pretty sure I'd need to be able to cast detect magic to first identify the auras on the items.
Kendra_1

Shonne--- hehe :)
Well I'm no example..I do have detect magic if that's what I needed to do above...
Nantas Slickskin

Kendra, it has to be prepared, you have Prepared Spells: Zero-Level: 3 -Dancing Lights -Read Magic -Detect Poison 1st Level: 2 (class+1(INT)) -True Strike -Mage Armor
You could use your bonded object to pull up any spellbook spell though
Nantas tries to identify

Yes, but I already used my bonded dagger previously for Magic Missile- I think I only get one use per day on that....but then I'm not sure what counts as one "day" online here...I did have detect magic but lost track if I actually used it or if someone else did.. ..No matter.. seems you rolled masterfully this time so it looks like you have us covered :)

Triblin's face looks dark as he follows Olga. His eyes pointed somewhat towards the ground, he seems to be mumbling to himself. No, at a closer look, he's actually praying to Sarenrae for the undead gillmen to have a safe journey into the grand graveyard of Pharasma. Once finished, the gnome looks up towards the gillman oracle.
"I am sorry, but we had to lay some of your kind to rest. It seems that a necromancer had stolen the souls on their way to the afterlife, and raised their bones. It seems that they had turned on their master before his plans went through, so there is some solace in that.
The gnome hands the gillman the notes from the necromancer's body.
| DM Kludde |
It is a sad thing to hear of the deaths of my comrades. the gillman says, but you've been very brave in facing off the threat, and for that I am grateful.
Know that this is our sacred place, but it was once dedicated to Aroden. This diorama is an altar, pilgrim - humans - have come here in the past to do their rituals, and receive a blessing. I believe the rituals are described those carvings in the tunnel.
The magic of Aroden is fading, like charges from a wand, and so are the carvings. One day, there will be no more blessings, and the magic will be gone forever.
| DM Kludde |
It's a ring of protection +1 and a bracers of armor +1
That seems to be the gist of it. A symbolic action to mimic the behaviour of what is described in the carving.
Let me just put all info in one place for you:
The Beggar is depicted kneeling with an alms bowl raised high, representing Aroden espousing humility in all, lest they forget their shared humanity. The Thief is depicted stealing a gem from a shop while whispering a prayer, an allusion to a passage saying that larceny—though illegal—is a form of praise, for anything worth stealing is also worthy of praise for its craftsmanship.
Rising up from the pool is a column of rock with steeply sloped sides and a flat top, as if someone had sawn off the top of a massive stalagmite. A miniature city carved from this same stone occupies nearly the entire surface. Tiny trinkets such as ancient coins, polished semiprecious stones, and ornately braided loops of string are scattered throughout the diorama, and pale cave frogs clamber atop it. The smooth cavern floor is covered in gravel and pebbles along the edge of the pool, and several foot-long centipedes prowl among the gravel in their search for prey.

This is one of the moments when I'll let those who have never played the scenario figure things out on their own. ;) If you need hint I'll be more than happy to try and give some to you in character, but I think it's quite doable on your own.
| DM Kludde |
Olga takes a stone from the pool, then loudly exclaims she took one.
Triblin Runlark

Agreed there Hikage. Besides, I'm gonna try this without any of help provided!]
Nantas Slickskin

Referee to the ring and bracers, "It's a ring of protection and a bracers of armor" (+1 each)
When Olga takes the stone, Nantas laughs and yells, "Thief! And Not a very good one!"
Olga the Unmarried
|
"A ring!? For me!?? I eh... I'm sorry, Nantas. Father has told me I could only marry a man because he needs grandchildren for the Ogrefist bloodline! I mean, you're cute and all, but a bit... scaly, you see..."
Olga gently pats Nantas on the shoulder as if trying to comfort her.
"But what do you mean by that I am not a good thief? Of course I am not! I never stole anything in my life!"
She smiles innocently.

Kendra has been standing in the background, quietly observing the curious exchange.
She walks over to Nantas and assuming Nantas picked up the ring and braces says
"May I see these a moment?"
Assuming Nantas allows here to proceed
"Thank you".
Taking the items in hand, Kendra looks around for a container of sorts, then, not seeing anything amongst the centipedes, takes her hat off.. She takes a stone from the water and fetches a silver coin from her bag. She places the stone and the magical items in her hat, then walks over to the diorama and places the coin amongst the other trinkets.
She then kneels quietly lifts the hat above her head and whispers a prayer for humility to Aroden...
Oh great and mighty Aroden.. please accept these small tokens as an offer of our appreciation for your guidance and protection. Please bless the weapons which we have discovered. May we be worthy of your blessings as we continue this journey and please restore the bounty that was once a part of these Gillmen's community, who worship you humbly still.
| DM Kludde |
Kendra kneels near the altar and whispers a prayer, after which the party feels an otherworldly, tingling sensation.
You've received a blessing: for 24 hrs, you receive a +1 luck bonus on AC, but only during surprise rounds or while flatfooted.

Standing again and putting the objects back in Nantas' possession...
So, everyone is healed and has caught there breath now I believe? Shonne, do you have any other objects in that bag I might take hold of to help in our next battle? Was there another acid vial in there, or that holy water?.. I believe it's time to move on to the next tunnel...
| DM Kludde |
Hmm?: 1d6 ⇒ 1
The western passage trails and snakes through the underground caves, and is padded with bioluminescent fungi - an eerie glow, but enough to see by. There are many side passage, but none are wide enough to fit the entire party.
As the passage continues on, the party hear the tell-tale sound of a stream. Indeed the cave widens, and a little underground river is visible. Behind it, two kobolds are clearly alarmed by the sudden appearance of the adventurers, and take an aggressive stance.

Oh Janira, I hope you are okay.....

Don't want to actually make a move until I get an answer, and hopefully something useful, from Shonne.
Since her companions are behind her and the path to the cavern is narrow, Kendra give a quick warning to those behind her...

Kobolds, nasty draconic buggers. They can see in the dark, and have a weakness to light. They rely on crafting traps as well.
Triblin Runlark

"Kobolds? Why would they... Never mind that, we need to get through!"
Taking a couple of steps forward, the gnome places his hand on the hilt of his scimitar, and mutters a small prayer to the Dawnflower, causing a burst of holy light!
Bless for 1 minute, +1 to attack rolls and versus fear effects

well ok then.. guess she has some confidence with Kobold fighting... she notes as she peers over and around the others to catch sight of the speedy elf.
