Eolowyn comes to her senses and sees Liara standing over her, wand in hand.
"Whoa, that was a nasty combat! Wait, isn't it over yet?"
She then tries to grab her wand of cure light wounds from her bandolier, discovering that it is gone. "You can return my wand after combat, now hit me again please"
After she gets hit by her own wand Eolowyn stands up and picks up her bow, nocking an arrow in the process.
Assuming that that is two move actions

Letting out a sequel of joy Liara wraps her hands around Eolowyn "Thank our dark lord it was not a wand of fire ball" she says with a relived smile on her face as she lets the light wash over her comrade again "I am sorry for using your wand it is just I did not know what to do" she says apologetically .

Liara comes to the aid of Eolowyn, who rapidly turns to her senses. Darvik scimitar slash only barely misses the elf, while his shield bash bludgeons the other, who cringes under the assault, and collapses shortly after.
The remaining elf attacks Darvik with his trident, and against all odds draws blood

The combined onslaught of Darvik and Eolowyn make short work of the remaining elf.
Combat over
Four elves lie on the deck, three of them bleeding - one merely unconscious.
Captain Veane arrives to the deck, and asks What in the nine hells is going on here?

Heal our fallen. Darvik will then immediately go and check on Sephriel. Keep an elf avile and question him. You can kill the others if you see fit to do to so.

DM Kludde |

Darvik speeds toward the manhole down, and immediately runs into Marzack Mallick, the boat's first mate. He rushes up, mostly ignored Darvik, and moves towards the captain with unseemly haste.
The finely decorated cabin contains a brightly colored Qadiran rug, a small bookshelf, several storage trunks and barrels, and a modest bed. Lying face down on the ruffled, blood-soaked sheets rests the body of a tall, golden-haired elf in elegant bedclothes, his face covered in an intricately carved wooden mask.
Marzack moves up to the captain and informs The.. the dignitary! Murdered!

![]() |

Pick your favorite curse and Darvik will likely have chosen to use it while yelling out his discovery of the corpse. Liara, get down here, now! He will see if there is anything the cleric can determine from the scene.
Darvik will then find the first mate and in a rage yell at him. Where were you?! You should have been here to protect him! You had to have seen something, what happened?! Did YOU do this, hmm?!

![]() |

Hagrym allows his friend his tantrum, as he examines the scene. "Keep that unconscious one around. We need to find out who sent this group to distract us. Clearly it worked, so we have some payback to hand out."

![]() |

Eolowyn first heals herself with her own wand, which she has gotten back from Liara. Then she is trying to stabilise one of the aquatic elves when she overhears the first mate talking to the captain. She first focusses on the job at hand, knowing that it is now paramount that they can question the raiders.

That first mate did this, he was the only one down here. Had to be! Darvik continues to fume at the events of the last few minutes. He must be have been in consort with these elves and took advantage of the chaos to murder him. I can't believe I allowed this to happen so easily.

![]() |

Loenor tries to calm Darvik. "I was the one who left his post when I heard sounds of a tussle on deck. You're no more to blame than any of us. Now, who wants to talk to the fiends' survivor? And before you ask, no, I don't know who they are!"
As the others decide their tack for interrogation, Loenor will loot the bodies and ready to toss the bodies overboard. The whole while, he mutters about giving aquatic elves a bad name and how much harder they just made their job...

![]() |

"shhh shh" Liara says as she presses her fingers against his lips trying to calm the man down. "nothing makes for a more convincing scape goat than a fully armored man covered in blood" Leaving to talk to one of the prisoners she stops looking curiously at Loenor as he speaks "I don't think I was given the chance to thank you for saving me" she says to the elf.

![]() |

Loenor looks up from his task for a moment. "Don't mention it," he says with a smile. As if a sudden thought comes across his mind (assuming we've all gone down to see the dignitary dead), he pauses the looting of the bodies and asks "Why was the dignitary wearing a wooden mask? Was it his or left on his body?"

![]() |

Azura assists in securing their captive, gasping in horror at the first mates words and joins those rushing to confirm the dark news for themselves. "I have no skill with healing, but I do have a cure wand as well. Is he beyond help?" She looked to the ranger and cleric for their judgement, standing by to assist. Someone needs to make a heal check to tell what killed him, at least.
"How has this happened? We stopped them from reaching him! Darvik is right! It must have been one of the crew that did this, the intruders didn't make it below decks and we were all up top... Well, almost all of us." She bit her lip and a worried expression crossed her face as she remembered that Loenor was possibly the last person to see Sephriel alive.

DM Kludde |

The aquatic elves were each carrying a single potion. Loenor gains a total of four as he tosses the three dead elves overboard. The fourth one is stabilised, and remains unconscious.
Hurrying to the scene of the crime, the remaining adventurers and the captain start examining the corpse. The mask he wore is common for elves of the mordant spire - one of many peculiar customs these elves keep. Liara, with the aid of Hagrym and Azura, soon realises that the body contains multiple stab wounds. Azura further notices that the cabin shows no signs of forces entry. Also, the lock shows no scratches: it was opened with a key, not picked.
The captain turns from terrified to pure rage. You're the only ones on this ship I don't know well! he says I'm not taking the rap for this, by Besmara, and neither is my crew. It might not be fair, but when we get to Mordant Spire in three days, it's you who'll have to answer for Sephriel's death.
With that, the captain storm out of the cabin and onto the main deck, first mate Mallick close on his heels.

Close, close...
Also, remember: Faction missions are not just fluff on this one - they count for secondary success (that second PP everyone wants). Does everybody know what they're supposed to do?

Loenor tries to identify the potions through taste: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 before heading belowdecks past the storming captain and first mate to join his party. "Not a whole lot on the dead ones. Any revelations down here? The captain didn't seem too happy."

DM Kludde |

Loenor identifies the potions as being obviously meant to heal (Cure light). Lucky for him, the elves spent all their sea urchin poison already.

![]() |

Loenor stops in his tracks passing the dwarf. He approaches him and asks if he saw anyone hurrying up the hold during the commotion in which the diplomat was... well, you know.
As he talks, he scans his eyes for a certain book...

![]() |

"Where is the elf, Thanzaril? He and I have matters to discuss," Hagrym inquires of the closest crewman. He heads in the direction the crewman gives him.
DM.

following the captian with a worried look on her face Liara attempts to calm him down best not have the man controlling the ship too cross with us she thinks
"I apologize for what has happened but this is a gross breach in security there is no way to be certain that one of us is the killer. Please I advise that you help us with your investigation last thing you want is for this to happen again.. think of your crew" She says pleadingly while keeping a eye out for a certain some one.

Yeah, I saw you. the ugly dwarfs answers as he spits on the floor, then starts mumbling to himself Pointy-eared folk. Knew he was trouble the moment he stepped on board.
Loenor looks around, but before he sees anything of interest the dwarf interrupts Waddaya looking it at? then after a brief pause what?! you suspecting me?
Gradually descending into something halfway between paranoid and a tantrum, the dwarf starts cursing and threatening You better watch your step, you pointy-eared goof, or I'm going to bash those teeth of yours till no more are there. I'll show you how a hand becomes a fist, d***it

DM Kludde |

The captain responds to Liara questioning my crew are all fine men. Loyal. Liara's tactful words do sway him a bit, as he adds, discreetly, I do have my doubts about Marzack, though
I hope the multi-npc posting is not too confusing - let me know if it helps or if it is detrimental

![]() |

Loenor raises his hands as he studies the dwarf. "Far be it from me to agitate the one who feeds us. Besides, if I suspected you, we wouldn't be so civil right now. But if you perhaps knew something that could help find out who did do it, good times all around."

![]() |

I actually enjoy it =P
feeling insecure with the sudden news Liara moves closer to the captain whispering to him "If you truly believe that your first mate may be of questionable morals maybe we should discuss the situation somewhere personal .. maybe in your cabin" not wanting to be alone she motions for Darvik to come with her. knowing Zarta that is where I will find her prize"

![]() |

Eolowyn moves out, towards the deck. She hopes the aquatic elf is still unconscious and on deck. There she will try to lug the elf downstairs to their cabin.

![]() |

"Thanzaril, can we talk for a second? I bring greetings and a gift from the Ruby Prince," Hagrym whispers to the elf.

![]() |

Loenor smiles a humourless smile. "You're lucky there has already been a murder on board. Would hate to make it two." With that, he strides back out the door and joins his party members. To them he simply says "Probably best if you don't eat the food for the rest of the trip..."
FTR, when studying the dwarf in the last post, he became a Favored Target. Cross between Favored Enemy and Quarry. Thought the bonus to Bluff or Sense Motive may have been needed. Shrug.

DM Kludde |

If you feel a bluff or sense motive is in order, feel free to roll it.

![]() |

Didn't seem bluff was in order, and I don't think I need a Sense Motive roll to know his intentions, hahaha. But if he decides that a fight is what he wants, I'll get the same bonus to attack and damage as well. But that's up to him. Someone else may need to do that mission for me, though, hahaha.
