"So she's still alive? Well then. Let's take her back." Kirrote approaches the sarcophagus holding the girl and tries to lift her out of it.

With the others crowded around the sarcophagus, Yangrit squeezes out of the alcove and inspects the rest of the area. Her nerves run high again, remembering the ghast that surprised them earlier.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Unfortunately, she's so preoccupied with her fear of being jumped by more undead that she simply doesn't notice anything else.

Channeling energy does not seem to have any effect on the girl, leaving you with two possibilities: Either the girl is dead and hasn't joined the ranks of the living dead, or is alive. Given the magical item she is wearing, you opt for being alive. And with that decision made, Kirrote has no trouble lifting her out of her confined space. While frail she doesn't look to be severely malnourished and carrying her proves to be no issue for the barbarian. You begin to depart the necropolis, leaving a happy looking Marlinchen behind to play with his daughter, or perhaps more accurately, the ghost of her memory.

Where do you head to? Do you do anything about Marlinchen?

"Well, we've done what we came to do. How about we go back now and report?" No one had better want to explore the rest of this place. I've had enough! Yangrit gives no thought to Marlinchen, as he creeps her out. Let him stay with his daughter; one ghost deserves another.

Reporting back to the Grand Lodge and Drendle Drang, you manage to elicit a reaction few have managed to from the old man: absolute shock.

"This child is alive! You there, go get one of the lodge's healers. And you, go summon Lady Dacilane!"

There is much commotion during the next few hours in spite of it being the middle of the night, but in the end, it is a barely-composed Lady Dacilane that finally gets to grab ahold of her child and hug her tightly, as if the world depended on it. "My sweet child. My baby girl. Mommy's here for you. Mommy's here..."

The Chelish noblewoman begins to sob with joy in the nape of her daughter's neck, as Venture-Captain Dreng motions you out of his office, so as to give the two of them and the pathfinder agent attending to Junia some privacy. "You have done well Pathfinders. I will make sure that my report to the Ten reflects how proud I am of you today. Indeed, behavior worthy of the most elite elements of the Phalanx. Now go get some rest, I expect your reports in the morning."

***Sometime later***

The weariness caused by your excursion into the Tri-Towers yard all but engulfs you as you finally open the doors to your individual rooms. But as you take in the bunks or beds in which you choose to rest in, you spot one thing that is out of place. A single, folded piece of paper, seemingly torn from a book, or journal.
Opening it, you read only two words, penned in the hand of a child.

"Thank you!"

Chronicles incoming tomorrow AM! Thank you for your patience!

How...how is she doing this?!? Paranoia-driven terror grips Yangrit. Unable to sleep, she spends the night writing her report, jerking around to peer into the shadows whenever she hears the slightest sound. Perhaps she'll be able to sleep after turning in her report. It'll be broad daylight by then, safer, less creepy...

Morning comes to an exhausted Marlinchen, who watches - teary eyed - as the images of his daughter and her friends slowly fade away. He stands and looks towards the exit, as if ready to leave. "Daddy?" He snaps in the direction of the little girl's voice, jaw agape. "Cassiel? Honey?"

A figure stands, deeper still in the shadows of the necropolis. "Daddy, you came back to see me?" Marlinchen stumbles towards the apparition, stuttering. "Cassiel, of course I came back, I never left, honey please come to daddy, let me see you." He casts a minor cantrip, a light spell as the figrue staggers towards him.

"Daddy. Daaaaaaaddy. You're never going to leave me now, are you. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever..."

The crashing sounds of the Inner Sea's waves against the bluffs of the precipice quarter are loud, but not quite loud enough to mask Derris Marlinchen's final screams.
