Gothia VonSalais
Waving the others over, just out of the sight and hearing of the trogs, Gothia whispers.
"Finally, we are here! Let us dispose of those guards and search the area before entering the Naga's lair. What do you say?!"
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT considers Gothia's words, a slightly worried look across her pretty face. "I could try to sneak up on them," she suggests. "Not my forte, but not my worst skill, either. If it works, maybe I can get a sneak attack on them; if not, maybe I'll provide a distraction, and you can all swoop in and save me before the trogs kill me."
I'll roll a Stealth check in a spoiler in case no one talks TT out of sneaking in alone; I'm not exactly married to the plan, as she's still a weak combatant.
Vesica Stealth Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger grins at TT. "I'll go with you, I'm fairly sneaky myself - at least outdoors." Turning to Chestman, the half-elf shakes his head. "They might call out a warning, if they see you. If we're spotted, then you can charge in. Hopefully TT and I can take them down swiftly and without an alarm raised."
With that, he nods at the bard, and does his best to sneak up on the guards alongside her...
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Shield not readied, as that'd penalize his check. Gah! What'd I step on a branch or something? Sorry TT!!
Gothia VonSalais
Gothia watches the two sneak up on the guards and reacts if either is spotted, bursting out of the undergrowth and rushing the two sentries.

They hear you, and start speaking in an unintelligible language. One of the guards leave, while the last gets his spear ready!
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
"Well, damn!" TT mutters under her breath; turns out she wasn't particularly stealthy in her approach either. Magic sap in hand, she closes on the remaining guard.
Vesica Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
Can we all reach the troglodyte guard this round with a move-then-attack routine? Or do we have to charge to get an attack in?
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT takes a circuitous path, double-moving to get close enough to (possibly) flank next round. (Pretty crappy AC, even when she doesn't charge.)
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger utters a screech and Scout dive bombs the trog running off to sound an alarm. The druid hopes he can keep the thing occupied long enough for him to get there - hopefully without getting terribly hurt! The half-elf skirts the battle with the posted sentry and heads after the one that's running off.
Scout's 'Charge' Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
Scout dive-bombs the trog that's headed off (ugh, I'm certain that's a big miss) and Sea Ranger double moves 60' (or Run up to twice that, if he can) to catch up. If this turns into a Star Wars moment where Han Solo chases the lone stormtrooper into a crowd of others, he'll turn tail as soon as he sees it and run back to the others!
EltonJ
The elf fires at the nearest trog.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Okay, the arrow hit. One of the trogs have an arrow stuck in his chest. Also, Scout's dive bombing attack did not work. Gothia's attack was successful, and that the trog has a major wound. Nialo also hits, and this trog is down. Chestman misses.
The trog that was running for help leaves the door open for you.
END ROUND 1
End combat.
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
Tavern Tale casts a light spell upon her magical sap but lets other folks (with darkvision, low-light vision, or just better fighting skills) head into the lair before her.
Gothia VonSalais
Gothia follows a step or two behind TT...her sword at the ready and her senses sharp!
I know this is a little derpy, but can Gothia use her Detect Evil ability to warn the party of approaching evil creatures? Not too sure of the distance/radius

Let me check if the ability (which works like the spell) works like that.
Looks like you can.
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger wrinkles his nose at the awful stench, but moves forward regardless. Though he has the vision of elves, still he needs light to see by - though he doesn't have a spare hand with which to carry a torch. "I would suggest I stay just behind the front rank - close enough to jump into a battle, or use my sling or magic if the quarters are tight." He glances at Gothia and Chestman, figuring they'll be the ones in front.
Once they head in, the druid instructs his companion Scout to watch the entrance and then fly to him with warning if anyone (or anything) approaches.
Anyone with a free hand to carry a light or a torch? Or we could use a Light spell cast on a shield or a rock that can be easily extinguished by putting it into a pocket - but cantrips aren't 'free' in this ruleset, I think...
Gothia VonSalais
Gothia maneuvers towards the closest trog, and sends a wicked slash towards her foe.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Damage: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
I think the surprise round is for Gothia (and maybe Chestman--he doesn't hesitate when there's a fight to be had...and he was at the front). If everyone's supposed to go, TT will scoot into the room to provide light and surveille the situation.

Chestman still needs to roll his attack. But you're right, the surprise round goes to Gothia and Chestman.

Chestman rages and attacks
[dice=Rage,Power attack]1d20+6;1d10+10
You miss.
Regular Combat begins. Round One.
Gothia hits her target with the combined might of Heironeous! The Trogs go on the defensive. Everyone, remember to post your turn. After everyone posts their turn it's mine.
Gothia VonSalais
Swinging her sword around after the last hit, Gothia again slices at the Trog threatening her and her friends.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT slips along the edge of the room before joining the fight, hopefully flanking a foe opposite Chestman.
Vesica +2 sap (flanking?): 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21 for bludgeoning, magic, nonlethal damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 plus (potentially) sneak attack precision damage?: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger moves as well, trying to flank with Gothia, if possible, but he is distracted by the voices he heard and misses badly as he splits his attention, looking for the source. "They have captives!" He hisses to any of his nearby companions.
Scimitar Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 (add +2 if he can flank)
Scimitar Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
That's just sad!

He can't flank, and he just dropped his sword.

Botting for Alenthieal to keep things moving....
The elf ranger targets an uninjured trog....
Alenthieal darkwood composite longbow (PBS): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 = 18 for piercing damage (PBS): 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8 (x3)

I'd say that is an instant kill.
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
Er...the (x3) was just the crit modifier in case the roll was a crit. I need stuff like that to remind myself ;)
