Welcome! I hope you've read my posting expectation, behavioral expectations, etc...
I need you to provide me with the following:
Player Name:
Character Name:
PFS #:
Day Job:
Perception modifier:
Initiative modifier:
Additionally, you need to make sure you are playing a CORE character. Does your character use an archetype? You aren't CORE. Are you a character class other than: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer or Wizard? You aren't CORE. Are you using any gear from any source that isn't the CRB or from your chronicle sheets? You aren't CORE. If you aren't sure if you are CORE or not, check in with your friendly GM.

Player Name: Warah
Character Name: Yangrit Foehammer
PFS #: 289224
Day Job: Clerk
Perception modifier: +7
Initiative modifier: +3
Amount of coffee needed to get jittery: Unknown; I don’t drink watery burnt dirt.
I’m excited about my first PbP experience, and I’ll always be open to constructive advice about how to improve.
I was under the impression that OutPost would be starting in March. I can start whenever you’re ready, but I am curious about the timing of this check in.

![]() |

The purpose of this is both to remind you of your sign up at this table so you can make sure your character is available for the session, and an opportunity for you to post in the gameplay thread and then immediately delete said post just so as to get the game displayed under your "Campaigns" tab.
All in all it serves as a reminder of the impeding delve into Black Waters we are about to undertake in various forms.

Player Name: Mindxing
Character Name: Kirrote
PFS #: 212182-8
Day Job: none
Perception modifier: +4
Initiative modifier +3
Amount of coffee needed to get jittery: Unknown. I drink tea and it only takes a couple stout cups of English Breakfast, with no food, and I'm jittery.

![]() |

Looks increasingly likely that one of the Pathfinders I had slated to play at Outpost will still be wondering the Varisian wilderness, babysitting a sleepwalker come March 5th, so Howirk will be joining this delve into Black Waters.
Still making some character decisions, but wanted you all to know that I will be available.
Please note that on March 16-18, I will be at a con and may not be able to post. I am happy to leave botting instructions before then, if you would like.

![]() |

Well, welcome everyone! We are waiting on a couple stragglers, but I am glad to have you at my table!
Black Waters is one of my favorite scenarios, and I hope I'll do it justice enough. We are about a week out and Thursdays are usually not a very good day for me, but I'll try to update you all in the AM if I cannot get approval to start a smidge early.
In the meantime, I formally enjoin you to begin introducing yourselves to each other in the gameplay thread.

Player Name: Jim Minz (Uktar)
Character Name: Wizbang Fizzlepott
PFS #: 100685-16
Day Job: Craft Alchemy Dayjob check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Perception modifier: 0
Initiative modifier: +5
Amount of coffee needed to get jittery: Is there such an amount? Hmmm. Not sure I want to test that. I'll spend way too much time on bio breaks...
If I play Wizbang on Sat night (he's scheduled to play), he'll be level 2. I'll get his profile uploaded after that. (the numbers above do reflect his stats at level 2)

Deane Beman |

Howdy....I'm happy to round out the party. I just had to double check to make sure I hadn't played this in Core yet. I just signed up on the Outpost sheet. I'll be building a cleric from scratch and should have him up within 24 hours.
I'll also happily back away should the fellow who was originally signed up comes around...and I should say that I may have played this before (in standard PFS) but it was at least a two years ago so I probably don't remember much!

![]() |

I apologize for the change, but Wizbang decided Improved Initiative was more to his liking than Toughness. We'll find out if that's the right choice. Everything else remains the same, just his initiative mod is now +9. Profile shoud now be current.
Player Name: Jim Minz (Uktar)

Player Name: Lysle
Character Name: Howirk Crookfeather
PFS #: 90900-8
Day Job:None
Perception modifier: +3
Initiative modifier: +3
Amount of coffee needed to get jittery: Depends. Are we talking about ingesting it orally or via injection?

Alright, tomorrow is when we start. Strap yourselves in!

@ GM Upaynao - I'd like to keep an eye out for completion of faction goals. I assume that the Lady Dalcine must maintain her fortune in some manner. Can Howirk tell if the Lady Dalcine would meet the requirements for a potential recruit for the Exchange ("a named NPC merchant, smuggler, trader, or similar figure")? If not, I will keep an eye out for an opportunity to resolve a combat encounter nonviolently through bribery, diplomacy, trickery, or a similar tactic or some of the other faction goals.
Thanks again for running the game. It has been lots of fun so far!

She's a noblewoman, and gets her money probably from land back in Cheliax, and probably from espionage in Absalom for the Chelish crown. I mean. Only from land back in Cheliax.

I anticipate having limited availability over the weekend until late Sunday or morning Monday, US East coast time. Feel free to bot me. Will attempt to charm living to avoid a fight. Will cast protection on self then frontliner if facing undead. Otherwise, tries not to get hit.

![]() |

Just a reminder that will be at a con this coming weekend, Friday afternoon through Sunday night, US East Coast time, and anticipate having limited availability during that time. Let me know if I should leave botting instructions.

![]() |

I would love combat botting instructions. If you want to tell me that your character will assist/do nothing/use perform (dance) every turn, that's fine but combat is where your turn will come up and I will need to know what you are doing.

Ask, and ye shall receive. Instructions are repeated (without the spaces before "dice=" on character sheet.
First round (before combat)
Against undead or outsiders (unless he has some reason to think them not evil)
Howirk casts protection from evil on himself and attempts to get safely behind a front-line fighter.
Against humanoids
Howirk casts charm person (Will save DC 18) on creature he ascertains most likely to be leader. If this fails, Howirk casts protection from evil on himself and attempts to get safely behind a front-line fighter during the next round.
Against all others
Howirk casts ghost sound (Will save DC 16) to simulate the sound of an approaching dragon or other predator.
Order of Actions in Subsequent Rounds (once combat begins)
Howirk casts protection from evil on a front-line fighter (unless he has some reason to think the opponent is not evil) and attempts to find cover outside of the combat zone.
Howirk casts daze (Will save DC 17) on the nearest humanoid opponent that does not threaten him and draws his dagger.
Howirk draws his first dagger and throws it at the nearest opponent that does not threaten him.
[ dice=Ranged Attack (Dagger)]1d20+3[/dice]
[ dice=Damage (dagger)(P)]1d4[/dice]
Howirk next draws his blowgun and fires it at the nearest opponent that does not threaten him.
[ dice=Ranged Attack (Blowgun)]1d20+3[/dice]
[ dice=Damage (dart)(P)]1d2[/dice]
If opponent is adjacent, Howirk uses his Corrupting Touch (Su) on the opponent and tries to tumble away.
[ dice=Melee Touch (target shaken)]1d20-1[/dice]
[ dice=Acrobatics v. CMD)]1d20+3[/dice]
If the above tactics do not work, Howirk uses his dagger to attack and then tumble away.
[ dice=Melee Attack (Dagger)]1d20-1[/dice]
[ dice=Damage (dagger)(P/S)]1d4-2[/dice]
[ dice=Acrobatics v. CMD)]1d20+3[/dice]

@GM Upaynao: I'm having trouble understanding part of the necropolis map. What is the rectangular box in the upper left? Is it the black pool where we are now? If so, what are all the little roof-looking things?
Also, where is our starting point, so we know where to place ourselves on the map?
Thanks!

![]() |

So the box in the upper left is an overview of the are of the Drownyards you are in. Honestly, it's pretty useless when it comes to situating you so I would just ignore it.
I will add a Starter location box for you all, but Kirotte has it figured out.

![]() |

Hey Yangrit:
Obviously your normal AC and Flat-footed AC are now 4 higher thanks to Mage Armor, but FYI, Monk's Wisdom bonus to AC applies even when flatfooted. So Yangrit's current AC should be
AC: 17+4, Touch 17 (+4 if incorporeal touch), Flat-Footed: 13+4
(I missed that for years, and I even have a zen archer character...)

![]() |

Sorry, I've been busy. Updating!!!!

![]() |

@GM Upaynao: So the deadline for finishing Outpost games is Monday of next week. Is it realistic to hope that we'll finish this game in time? What happens if we don't?

![]() |

I do not think we'll be done by then. It'll be close, but I'd guess another couple weeks given my current workload.
If you do not finish by then, we keep on playing until it's done! What will need to happen is some paperwork on my end and I will make you roll for boons!
Speaking of which, roll for boons! 1 or 20 results get to roll 1d4!

![]() |

Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 16

![]() |

Wizbang: 1d20 ⇒ 6
GM Upaynao: 1d20 ⇒ 10
No boons here.
:(

![]() |

Wizbang will spend 150gp on Remove Disease casting:
Caster Level: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
(3rd lvl spell, therefore caster level 5)
Frack. Is that enough? Should've spent extra for higher level casting...In fact, he will, if this one fails and we can know DC as a result. I.e. he'll spend another 30gp x (DC-1) for the second casting.
Oh, and if Thadeus or Yangrit (our Silver Crusaders) are working on Season 8 Faction Journal card and wanted to kick in 100gp in order to complete Faction Journal Card mission, Wizbang will be happy to accept the donation--we can hit a temple as soon as we leave Necropolis on way back to grand lodge.
To be clear: not worried about spending gp himself. Wizbang has it, and it's a cheap casting. But there isn't a cheaper way to complete that Journal Card task, provided you already started working on your Season 8 card before this mission, still need to complete that task, and wanted to kick in.

![]() |

Yangrit doesn't have the gold to help, unfortunately. This is her very first adventure, and she hasn't started any faction mission yet. I'm still relatively new to PbP, and only recently heard of the Faction Journal Cards. I guess I should look those up, huh? ;)

![]() |

No worries, Yangrit. Just trying to help other players remember their Journal Card missions.
FYI: You can't go back for a Season 8 Faction card. It's supposed to have been started before season 9 (current season) launched.
But you can start the season 9 card. If you don't want to worry about it, it's no big deal. Just some minor boons you can pick up after racking up enough successes over multiple missions. Mostly a little extra flavor for those of us who remember the days of crazy faction missions...
Downloading them is free, and there probably is stuff in there for this mission (like killing undead critters for the Silver Crusade iirc). Here's the link:
Faction Journal Card

![]() |

Just to clarify, I just want you to have a plan A. Plan B can wait for me to reveal the evil that I am capable of.
Also, my apologies if you needed this game to be done by Solstice Scar B on May 7th. I'm almost sure we can make that date, but my schedule of late has been unkind. Thank you bearing with me.

![]() |

Wizbang has no specific immediate plans or needs, other than to get out the bloodstains...oh, and cure his disease.

![]() |

@ GM Upaynao - Thanks for the great run! Fanastic descriptions! Easily, hands-down the creepiest PFS game I have ever been in!

![]() |

Thanks, Upay, and my fellow players: enjoyable scenario and fun RP.
If the initial casting of Cure Disease did the job, be sure to note the 150gp Wizbang spent. If it didn't work, he'll spend an additional 30gpx(DC-1) to get a higher level cleric to ensure he's cured by a second casting.
(I know we could talk about trying to make some saves, maybe get some heal checks to help, but Wizbang wouldn't mess around. Analytical approach says go get magic to cure.)
Unless there's something written into the scenario about Dreng arranging for a cure? (he asks hopefully...)

![]() |

I agree. This was a great creepy adventure, and we had a bunch of fun with the role playing. Thanks Upaynao.

![]() |

Thank you for playing! Wizbang, the check you made earlier is enough to free you from the clutches of Ghoul Fever. That was 150 gp well spent.
Everyone, your chronicle sheets are here!!! Just let me know here when you have it and if everything looks good, and I will close the thread!
And you should try to play 7-05 School of spirits when you hit levels 4-5 to see what has become of your efforts!

![]() |

I have mine. It doesn't show a day job check, though. How do I know what that is? Or do I get one this time? Yangrit has a +7 bonus on her Profession skill check.

![]() |

Looks good. Thanks again all!

![]() |

I have mine. It doesn't show a day job check, though. How do I know what that is? Or do I get one this time? Yangrit has a +7 bonus on her Profession skill check.
When I asked in your first post for a Day job, you never rolled, so I got confused and just defaulted to no Day Job. That's an easy fix though, just roll it now and I'll add it in.

![]() |

Ah, ok. In the other scenarios I have played, the GMs rolled for everyone at the end, so that's why I didn't do it this time. Here's Yangrit's roll.
Profession (Clerk): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

![]() |

Your chronicle has been updated Yangrit. If there are no additional concerns, I will close the thread on Tuesday.
