A sturdy silver chain jutting from the ceiling ends in a glowing orb that radiates yellow light across the rectangular room. A simple desk of polished wood, stacked with documents and scattered notes, shelters a pair of wooden chests against the south wall. A series of cracks along the eastern and western walls form makeshift entrances into exposed caverns.

A powerful nose need not be a disadvantage when facing foul odors; Khāṇa manages to nasally 'telescope in' to the chemical nuances that make up their horrid stench and focus on some element therein that isn't so bad on its own.

Emboldened by her own cunning, she swaps her bow out for her headsman's axe and moves to engage them.

Smiley gives a half hearted kick at one of the trogs, but was obviously not listening to Nigel's advice. He's busy thinking about how hard it is going to be to reshine the new scuff mark on it.

Nigel offers some well meaning advice to Ayo.

Rumble slowly rumbles forward and unleashes a stony fist into a reptilian face. That surely hurt. If he hadn't been throwing his guts up, it must have dropped the creature, alas it's natural stink has served its purpose in this case.

Khana slips between the trogs, and almost finishes off the blue scaled one. She'll need to use a whetstone to help sharpen her axe as it bites into thick skin, but draws no blood.

Ayo spends a little too long listening to the advice of Nigel, such that she almost forgets to swing her katana.

The red Trog gives as good as it got against Rumble, Tooth and claw combine to rend the Ored. Luckily for him, the blue scaled trog seemed more interested in putting more holes in Smiley's boots and toes. Smiley doesn't look happy at the trog's choice of lunch.

You can properly examine the files on the desk. The papers chronicle the personal exploits of Selmius Foster, a famous Pathfinder whose name you recognize from their training as Pathfinder agents. Most of Foster’s more infamous adventures appear here in varying amounts of detail, but it is evident there is another investigation he had been pursuing before he died: the lost records of a Society agent named Eylysia

I have played this before, so I'm gonna try to stay in the background on these investigative bits

Ayo sheathes her sword for the moment. Noting that two of her allies still have wounds, her hand hovers near her wand.

"Dwarf." She gives Rumblerock a quick glance. "...Rock. You are both still wounded. Do you have your own healing wands, as is a Pathfinder's duty?"

She finally draws her wand and presents it.

"If you do not, I have one and I can use it to heal your wounds."

While the name Arkath means nothing to him, Smiley is aware of a graveyard in the Ivy district which may be where he is buried.

Likewise Fimbrick is not especially famous, but checking through the other papers does turn up the promised address for him.

You are all aware of the Wall of Names, within the Grand Lodge, where fallen pathfinders are immortalized.

"Though I wonder what kind of clue could be hidden there in plain sight," she muses.

I am happy to use anyone's wand on them. Unfortunately, the only scenario this character has played had 1 PP, so I don't have my own wand to contribute.

The Wall of Names

Created in 4330 ar, the Wall of Names resides on the grounds of the Grand Lodge in Absalom. The monument is a curving wall of black glass that stands atop a small hill at the western edge of the lodge’s grounds. Trees surround the hill, providing ample shade and privacy for those visiting the wall to remember fallen comrades.

Carved into the wall are the name and date of death of every Pathfinder killed in the course of duty since the wall’s construction, and most entries also include a sentence or two summarizing either the agent’s greatest accomplishments or how she died.

The day is wet and cold, and the pathfinder team is likewise by the time they get to The Wall. It takes a while longer to find the names, and when you do... the inscriptions appear a bit odd.

Ayo's eyebrow twitches, and her eyes look about ready to pop out of her head.

"DOLL."

Her fist gribs the wand so tightly that people can begin to hear it cracking.

She clenches her jaw, taking every bit of fortitude she has to prevent from snapping the dwarf in half for his impertinence. She closes her eyes and forces herself to breathe slowly.

"Explore...report...cooperate...."

She finally opens her eyes, throws a tap of the wand at Smiley, and takes the lead, trying her best to not look at his infuriating face once more.

"A shrine to failed aspirants? This Test of the Starstone truly attracts the delusional, and then rewards them with an immortal shrine? Perhaps I do not understand the ways of other races, but this seems odd indeed."

She looks at the names they found. "Do these particular names mean anything to anyone? They do not to me. Perhaps more clues will turn up at these other locations."

So.. to the gnome? Choice is really yours, but to keep things moving, I'll assume that for the moment, you can change later if you want.

The drizzle turns to downpour, and the wind blows colder still. There are good days to tour Absalom, and there are poor ones. Today is a poor one. On the plus side, the weather is keeping the streets relatively empty.

The residence of Fimbrik is an ornate house on the Arcanamirium campus.

A brick step leads to Fimbrik’s front entrance, which is piled high with newspapers. Some are stuffed through a slot at the base of the door, others are piled up next to it.

Working your way, clockwise from the entrance, you see...

(d3)A bedroom. A bed and desk occupy this room. (whole left side of map)

(d2)A meeting room. This room contains half a dozen chairs, pillows and a desk. After a moment you see the door open and an elderly gnome enter the room, sit in a chair and start to read the newspaper.

(d4)A study. This study contains a round table surrounded by chairs. The walls are lined with full book cases. In here you can see the gnome walking the cases and then pulling down a book and leafing through it.
