As Fung begins scouting the tunnel, Aarion moves up to the mouth of the cave to keep a better eye on the Kineticist.
If necessary, Acrobatics for Aarion is +0. He will attempt to take 10 as well.

![]() |

Moving up together with the inquisitor and Fung he regarded his surroundings. He would move slow to not falter or hit the floor face first.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

![]() |

The nobles generally start to move boxes to make a defensive perimeter. One might almost think from their efforts that they are not used to hard work.
Eventually the tunnels meet up in a large room with three figures within it. Two stand at the edge of the waters, while a third stands further back in the room.
Set your self up to the left of the pink line. Once you are set up, you will not be able to take ten from acrobatics checks as you will be in combat, so take care! Once you are pre-positioned let me know and we'll progress
Glistening with water, the slick walls and floor of these tunnels were recently carved from the thick bedrock beneath Oppara. Well lit by standing lamps, the tunnels stretch into an adjacent chamber, seemingly carved from the bedrock as well. However, the adjacent chamber is made of smooth walls, covered in strange glyphs, and also lit by the same standing lamps. At the center of that chamber stands a tall stone dais. In the middle of the dais is a huge boulder which, by all appearances, fell a great distance before crashing here. The boulder glows with an eerie green light.

![]() |

I'm a little confused by the size of the squares on the floor vs the size of the character tokens. Are the squares 10'x10' or are they 5'x5', which only one character can occupy?
Aarion moves up and skirts the edge of the bend, then peers around the corner. After observing the situation the inquisitor puts away his scimitar and retrieves his bow.
Carefully observing the men, Aarion tries to make out what they are doing.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

![]() |

Meanwhile, Tirrem suggests a surprise attack before charging in. Basically, a simple shout and the group would fire from the corner, then charge in. Diplomacy seems less than acceptable now, he says with a smirk.

![]() |

Squares are 10'. Seems crazy I know, but this is season 0. There are some scenarios with 15' squares!
Tirrem can guess that they are aware of the parties approach. It is pretty hard to be stealthy in the water, and the nobles stacking crates doesn't help.

![]() |

Unable to respond without giving away there location, Aarion quietly sighs.
It is amazing that we haven't killed innocent people by rushing into violence without conformation of intent. There was a time I would have reveled in the opportunity to commit murder, but now....to snuff out a life without cause.....
Aarion turns to the ambitious Tirrem and shakes his head. Quietly the inquisitor goes back to observing the men and what they are doing.

![]() |

The two figures near the doorway stand ready. One is obviously dead, the other is armed with a pick.
Further back in the room, another man stands on the dais next to the rock. He gently reaches out a hand to caress the rock, a look of ecstasy on his face as he does so.

![]() |

Aarion's eyes fall on the dead century then back once again to Tirrem. Reversing his former decision to wait, Aarion nods to the Hunter with a new understanding.
Looking over at the green glowing rock, the inquisitor considers anything he might have come across that would give insight about the unusual object.

depending on time, Grimaldius would start using guidance with a little prayer for the group, in the following order: Aarion and then Theadus. Not sure if there is enough time to do both

![]() |

Fung steps up behind Tirrem, slowly gathering his power, ready to attack.

![]() |

Theadus suspects the big glowy stone is probably related somehow to what is going on. Destroying it might help release what magic has the placed locked down at the moment.

![]() |

After taking a moment to observe the man's motives, Aarion decides to fire a warning arrow towards the man in the back.
(Standard action) Fire a warning arrow next to the man in the back.

What is so special about the floor to make it so slick? I admit to not being overly familiar with the rules in this case, but judging on experience, wet stone (if smooth. rough stone is not slick even when wet, not at walking speeds) should only be around dc 3-6. Are the rules just wrong in this case, or is there a reason for the higher dc?
I just realized, there are no rules for kneeling. I was going to kneel but there are no rules for it. Hmm, added to homebrew fix list. You guys can add suggesrions for my homebrew fix list if you want.
Naomi gets up, cursing her lack of ranged options at the moment.

![]() |

The floor is wet and slippery. I've said so several times. It is one of the things written into the scenario unfortunately. Mechanically this is the same as a grease spell. So perhaps if you think of it as left over stuff from the digging that also has made it more slippery.
By the way there are rules for crawling, so you can crawl if you wish. To be fair, Naomi should have got a reflex save to avoid falling over, I missed your dex bonus being +3

![]() |

"Nothing like guards that hide during an altercation!"
With the two guards moving out of sight, Aarion changes his focuses to the healing man in the back of the room. After observing the man's movements for a moment, the inquisitor times his shot, then fires a well placed arrow straight at the man's torso.
(Move equivalent action) Study target on the man in the back of the room (Green), (Standard action) Attack the man (Green).
(Attack) MW Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 21 (Point blank shot, study target, and guidance)
(Damage) MW Composite Longbow: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 7 (Point blank shot, study target)

![]() |

>I'll look at crawling, but I doubt it'll allow what I had in mind, since while kneeling, you don't need to worry about balance to remain upright but you can still fight fairly effectively (I'd give a -1 atks and ac), though good mobility can only be achieved via dodge rolls making it good for a defensive or stationary need, or in this case, a need to remain upright on a slick surface. Of course, as a prone fighter myself, would be nice if I could add effective prone fighting to d20.
>Left over digging stuff would aid in countering slickness, as it would add grit. Flowing water would add to slickness, especially the deeper it is, even going from a 1/8" to 1/2" running water can really add to the slick, but if the water is standing still, it reduces the slickness as it gets deeper, as the water resists the quick movement of a slip.
I'll add a reflex save, and you can use it or ignore it at your leisure.
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Or it might not matter. I like real dice better.

![]() |

@Real dice you can throw across the room when they irritate you! You can either stand (which is fine) and try to move at half (again acrobatics/reflex to do this); just just crawl. You can crawl 5' as a move action, so 10' as a full round. Attacking from the ground is at -4, and melee attacks against you are at +4. Missile attacks against you are at -4 though.
