"I do... he says smiling turning to the fish creature.
Alexandre D'Alycone |
Alexandre chuckles faintly. "Let it never be said that Master Shaine doesn't know what he's doing." And with that, he turns to address the floating fish.
"Esgusodwch fi, ond gallwch esbonio pam eich bod yn drensio y rhan fwyaf o'r adeilad hwn os gwelwch yn dda? Mae ein harweinwyr yn storio llawer iawn o ddogfennau gwerthfawr yma, ac rydych yn difetha hwy yn eithaf effeithiol."
GM Deekan |
The fish turns to Chankotu and Alexandre and speaks in Sylvan.
"Hello there. I am Mistress Koi. You say this place is a library? I am sorry about the valuables, but I am doing this for a very important reason. Somebody released me through some sort of riddle of some.."
She continues to leak water everywhere. She pauses at mid sentence and speaks again.
"Hello there. I am Mistress Koi."

Chantoku translates everything for the water. "She seems a bit off" He scratches his head underneath his feathered hat as it tips to the side.
GM Deekan |
Mistress Koi continues to converse in Sylvan.
"Some sinister fox released me with a riddle of some sort. Have you seen him? I need to release water to stop him.! If you bring him to me alive I will stop the water.
She continues to spurt water everywhere.
"I can also help clean up the wat....Who are you? I'm Mistress Koi..
GM Deekan |
Mistress Koi continues to converse in Sylvan
"Bring me that nasty fox and the six scroll fragments,The Name Of the Fox and I will stop and clean up this water. Hi I'm Mistress Koi. Have you seen that dreadful fox.?
It seem that if you bring her the fox and all the scroll fragments she will stop and clean up this water. It looks the lower Archives is where you are headed. If there are no objections, the party will move in 24hrs.
Chankotu Kitusne |
"I don't she she's hostile just really confused.. Chantoku looks down at his red furry hands... "Finding another fox is I guess..What he have to do. I hope the Archives aren't totally ruined by then."
Cornelia d'Malheur |
Cornelia listens intently to Chankotu's description of their next steps. "A fox? As in a kitsune, like you? Or just a fox? Or a metaphor of a fox? Fey creatures are so fickle it is difficult to decipher their meaning." She sighs. "Well, then let us quickly complete this task so that we can get this water stopped!"
Hamith |
Hamith puts a hand to his breastplate, palm across the sword-and-sunburst symbol of Iomedae. He speaks in common, knowing nothing else.
"Then you have our pledge, strange flying fish creature, to find this fox and bring it to you so that you may return from where you came.""
Alexandre D'Alycone |
Alexandre frowns at the conversation. "If we're talking about sentient foxes in Sylvan, then yeah, we're most likely dealing with a kitsune. Just remember, that this means the any strange human in here could be our target in disguise."
As if to accent his point, he shifts into his own humanoid fox form, quickly following the change by adding, "Before anyone asks, I'm not the one we're looking for. Proving that is half the reason I dropped my cover."
With a wince, he let's his tail out before sitting on a bench. "Boots are painful with digitigrade feet. I don't know how some kin can stand it...," he grumbles as he pulls off his own boots and stows them in his bag.
GM Deekan |
With enough persuasion Mistress Koi has agreed that if you bring her the fox she will clean up the water. Reaching the bottom of the stairs you look into the darkness wandering what lies ahead.
Those without darkvision may cast light while going down the stairs. You will need some form of light in the basement.
Flooding from the library above has turned this storage chamber into a treacherous bog. Rising above the black lake, the flat tops of many rows of shelves create a makeshift maze of causeways. A spiral staircase descends from above, a deluge of water cascading down the steps. Four narrow corridors channel rivers of seawater off into the darkness.
The water here is approximately 3 feet in depth, it would require you 20 feet of movement to move in to a water square. Moving from water to shelve requires a climb check of DC5. While you may walk on the shelves, it will require a DC5 acrobatics or you may walk at half speed without any checks. Failing this check will cause you to be prone.
Staring into the darkness you hear some noices and a wanderful light moving about in the water.
The light does not seem to be natural.
Hamith |
Hamith takes out a sunrod and cracks it against his leg. His full plate armor is cumbersome here in the deep water. He wades in, his greatsword sheathed, and his longsword out and ready.

As the Pathfinders clamber around on the bookshelves trying to stay out of the water, the light moves faster through the water. It is as if whatever is creating the light is getting more excited. As they clamber around a whirlpool erupts from the dark water and a worm looking creature can barely be seen. As the creature from the whirlpool shows itself, the Pathfinders can see it is some sort of worm looking creature. Closely behind the worm is a very grotesque looking vulture bird.

The worm is actually a voidworm. They are magical and agile creatures. They are resistant to electricity, acid and sonic.
The vulture is Unique juju zombie giant vulture. It is immune to cold, electricity, magic missile, and undead traits. It will pursue the worm relentlessly and attack anything that comes between it and its meal.

Hamith grunts and heaves himself up onto the shelves to get a better look at the battlefield conditions, straining in his full plate. He sheathes his longsword and walks carefully along the shelf and draws his bow.

Actually that's probably my 5 AM brain talking. I don't think Hamith can do all that. He will simply stow his longsword and climb up onto the shelf and call out to the creatures. He'll draw his bow next turn if conditions warrant it.

The voidworm moves closer to the Pathfinders. It seems like it is in desperate need to get between them. As the worm moves closer the vulture follows the worm still trying to eat it. The vulture seems completely uninterested in the Pathfinders.

Alexandre moves to higher ground and tries to avoid the water. He readies an attack in case one of the creatures dare tries to attack him. Cornelia focuses on the bird with her attack. She tries to stab the grotesque bird, but narrowly misses.
The bird barely notices the Pathfinders and does not seem interested in them at the moment. It focuses all it's attention on the worm. The worm still relentlessly tries to escape from the bird, but cannot find a suitable place to hide.

With a frown, Cornelia sheathes her blade. "I am sorry. I... I thought that the wording of the riddle meant we should allow the worm to survive..." "I believe that is an excellent idea."
Alexandre D'Alycone |
"Don't worry to much about it, milady d'Malheur," Alexandre replies as he splashes down next to Cornelia. "If it's one thing that I've learned about fey, it's that they like things as confusing as possible. The only thing we can take for granted right now is that we have to find 4 more pieces of this riddle, and the kin that caused this mess in the first place."
With a look of disgust at the waist-high water, he growls faintly and wades after the others.

The door to the Dictionarium bears a simple lock and requires a Disable Device DC20 to open.
Water from the corridor rushes in. Strength DC 15 to close. You must also erect a barrier or use magic to stop the water from damaging anything. You can use bookshelves to dam the door.
The dictionarium contains many language primers, Linguistic treatises, and records of inscriptions.
You notice a travelers dictionary on a shelf. It is used to translate Sylvan to common.
