The gnome in blue fires his small longbow at Taerel, hitting the elf in the leg.

"This is heavy. See you soon."
I'll be away at a wedding this weekend with no computer. I'll be back on Sunday. If you need to bot me, Mercutio is trying to get behind the witchy lady on the far right - to attack hopefully with backstab, stealth, or flank if that at all happens.

Renedar takes a step towards the half-orc woman and tries to hit her with his fists.

Taklinn blesses the party, and their actions become more sure.
Renedar steps up to the opposing half-orc, and delivers a solid blow that connects with the side of her face tearing open a cut and cracking her cheek.
Mercutio moves to find a better position, hampered slightly by the citizens in the marketplace fleeing for cover.
Doodle conjures armor of invisible force.
A wave of positive energy blossoms from the grey-robed half-elf, and wraps around the half-orc. The energy flows around Renedar and Mercutio without touching them. The half-orc's wound heals slightly, and a bone snaps back into place.
1d6 ⇒ 4
Emboldened by the healing energy, the half-orc draws and swings her fine scimitar at her fellow half-orc.

She curses in frustration as Renedar is able to adjust his body to make the strike less vital than it should have been.
The blue-hooded gnome steps takes cover behind a nearby stall and shoots an arrow at Taerel from his protected position. The arrow pierces flesh.
composite longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

The red-robed mage releases a second magic missile spell, this time at Renedar. The monk is hurting.

I think I am not sure if Taerel got his mage armor off or not. If not, he does that first. If it is already active, then he will:
Taerel considers firing back, but doesn't like the partial cover afforded the gnome, so he draws his sword as he move first away and then circles in toward the gnome. (Basically to avoid an AoO)
As he closes, he swings his sword down, happily intending to cut the gnome cleanly in two. The smile leaves his face, though, as the stumbles on a rock and misses the gnome completely!
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8

Will, gray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Will, green: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Taerel casts mage armor, and draws his sword as he circles in for attack.
BOT
Taklinn, seeing only the half-orc foe has been damaged, steps slightly away from his friends and calls down a wave of healing energy.
Channel; no selective channeling, but the injured green enemy is now out of range.
Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Renedar swings his mighty fists, but his foe's heavy armor protects her well.
Mercutio hurries behind the grey robed cleric, and stabs her in the back.
I'll assume you were close enough to do this with difficult terrain ...
Doodle moves closer to the red-robed mage.
Double move? I'll assume you pulled your claws, or have some other way to threaten.
The blind cleric begins to cast a spell in panic ...

Mercutio's AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
damage+sneak: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (4) = 12
She drops in a bloody heap, her gray robes now heavily splotched with crimson.
The enemy half-orc calls out a battle challenge as her companion falls, and redoubles her attack on Renedar. Her fury and her blindness make her careless, and her blow misses.
scimitar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
The gnome archer is confounded by the press of the fleeing bystanders. Unable to step back and continue his ranged assault, he drops his bow and draws a short sword instead. The thrust makes it past Mercutio's defenses, but is only a light scratch.
short sword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Unable to move away quickly enough, the red-robed wizard adopts a defensive posture for his next spell. His hands move in arcane patterns, ...

Varian's acid easily makes contact with the heavily armored half-orc.
Taerel does his best to slice the gnome in two, and nearly succeeds.
Renedar finds it easier to fight a blind opponent, and lands a solid punch against her already flat face.
Even blind, the half-orc's armor protects her well, and turns aside Mercutio's thrust.
Doodle claws at the red-robed mage, leaving him bleeding from both strikes.
I want to give Taklinn the opportunity to respond, but don't want to wait too long. Is the party willing to bot him by default?
@Taerel, will you speak with him about making arrangements, please?

Renedar and Mercutio combine in devastating fury, leaving the female half-orc little more than a wet puddle of flesh and gore. It doesn't take a healer to know there is no recovering from those wounds.

GM Crucible |

Once the combat is over, people slowly start coming back into the market, all of them staring curiously at the party. It doesn't take long before street urchins start trying to drag the bodies of the dead "Pathfinders" away.
Around the neck of the gray-robed cleric, Taerel finds a heavy brass key with the symbol of a kneeling human male, his arms raised to the sun.
No one goes to prison in Kaer Maga—those caught committing crimes are either slain by vigilantes or executed by the Ardocs, the Commerce League, or the Duskwardens—and so the prison was just a trash heap the last time anyone checked.

"I recognise that symbol - it belongs to an abandoned prison in the Bottoms called "The Temple"; no-one goes to prison in Kaer Maga—those caught committing crimes are either slain by vigilantes or executed by the Ardocs, the Commerce League, or the Duskwardens—and so the prison was just a trash heap the last time anyone checked."

GM Crucible |

DM, what caster level are the scrolls at?
Unspecified, so minimum level.

![]() |

Taerel cautions Mercutio. "Have care, lest you offend..."
He takes both the holy symbol of Nethys and the heavy brass key with the symbol, in case they are useful to start a conversation later.
Seeing no one else take them, Taerel also picks up the arrows and 2 potions of cure light wounds.
By my calculations, this still leaves 1 CLW and 1 CMW, which Taerel will pickup and offer to anyone without some healing potions.
Also, we seem to have a number of arcane casters here. Taerel would be interested in scribing the obscurring mist spell if one remains at the end of the scenario, but has no objects to the others claiming them in the meanwhile.

![]() |

"Tarael, would you like one of these magic missile scrolls? No reason for me to hoard all of these. If it comes down to it, you and I both using them would be preferable."

![]() |

*Cough* Doodle, I think Varian expressed an interest in the scrolls first ;-) That said, I am happy to share the wealth :-)
Varian pulls the Magic Missile scrolls from his belt pouch, and hands one to each of Doodle and Taerel.
"How about we each take one."
When Taerel expresses an interest in the Obscuring Mist scrolls Varian smiles.
"I already have that spell in my spellbook, and you are more than welcome to copy it (and any others that you would like) once this mission is over. Let's keep those scrolls for use in an emergency, if we need to retreat."

GM Crucible |

You follow Varian's advice, and head to the "Temple".
The Temple is exactly as he described—a trash heap. It may once have been a model of beautiful prison architecture, but its facade is faded and cracked, piles of windblown trash hug its walls in drifts, and what may have once been manicured landscaping has since devolved into a tangled, swampy mess. A single path of cracked, wet bricks links the street to the entrance of the Temple, which appears to be a brand new, iron-braced wooden door. Above the door is a decayed carving of a human man on his knees, his arms raised toward a rising sun.
A brief inspection confirms the door is locked.

GM Crucible |

"Hmm... After this exciting fight, I've completely forgot what we were doing here. Weren't we looking for someone?"
