After a moment, he Interacts with his sword, pulling it out, and then Strides up to the green kobold, splashing through the mucky sewer water for a second. He then tries to Strike the thing down, his sword making a deep and oddly melodic tone as it passes through the air.

Darius inspires the group! Flint strikes out, but without much effect as the kobolds duck and dive under his blows.

Calder has more luck, chopping the head off the red kobold and badly wounding the one with blue scales.

Bristor knocks the green kobold into the slow moving sewer, where it starts to float away, face down. Ogen closes on the battle but his own blow is just a tad too late.

The kobold sorcerer at the back continues to dance and shriek, this time some foul smelling dung is thrown at Bristor, along with a multitude of small missiles.

Ogren threatens the caster, but doesn't manage to land a blow. Which doesn't matter quite as much as Darius's arrow looks pretty painful as it sprouts from the little creatures shouder.

Calder catches the kobold with with Main-garche, gutting the creature who squeels once as he goes down.

Bristor finds the blessing the the lucky drunk works as well in the sewer as it does on the surface, although even he doesn't want to risk a drink down here. Flint, well, you are starting to wonder if he really is a dwarven warrior or someone in disguise as one.

The pink kobold takes a guarded step backward before shrieking and dancing as more motes of power spring from its fingertips and into Ogren this time.

The wiley kobold avoids most of the Pathfinder's attacks. However it cannot dodge all of them, and Ogren catches it with a massive blow that drops it.

"No worries, Flint," Calder says as he cleans off his blades. "I didn't exactly show my merit against the Barbers, but slaked my axe's thirst to its fill today. We all have off days." He pats the dwarf on the shoulder and walks past him, whistling the haunting tune of a favorite (and almost definitely violent) sea-shanty. After cleaning his weapons, he goes through the pockets of the kobolds and robs them of everything he finds.

Any weapons on these guys?

The kobolds have three slings, three picks and a staff on them, aside from the gear listed above.

Calder collects the picks from the kobolds and offers them around to his companions. "If none of you are interested, I'll be hocking these for cash later. Just let me know if you wanted to hold onto one."

After collecting his booty, Calder reads takes his turn to read over the journal. "Alright. Sounds like we got some names here. Folks we can watch out for, I s'pose. Make sure they stay safe and all? Sounds like a good way to get paid to me."

Lantern Lodge

You return to the Grand Lodge and receive a missive from Ambrus, who is too busy to talk with you directly.

I've had another team also turn up a clue. All the murdered people were former slaves who were hidden for a time in the Sanguine Thorn. The Sanguine Thorn was an inn that was frequented by worshippers of Milani. Oddly, nobody in the Precipcie quarter, where it was located, in the last twenty years has heard of that inn.

You head off toward the precipice. The dangerous, undead ridden, area has gates that are sealed between dusk and dawn. The guards warn you "We won't be opening these for anyone, no matter what they say. Make sure you are out before sundown."

You follow directions to where the Thorn was reputed to have been before the massive earthquake...

Through a shroud of heavy fog, the twisted silhouettes of ruined structures loom over the broken cobblestone path. What was once the corner of an intersection is now an imposing chasm. The mouth of the crater is large enough to have swallowed a colossal beast, but mist, detritus, and darkness obscure the bottom. Numerous shards of stone and debris jut out from the inner walls as if the cavernous hole is baring its teeth all the way down.

Playtest Character 1

Calder looks down into the chasm and sighs. He pulls his pack off and sets it down before beginning to dig through it. He pulls out a large, three-sided hook and a length of rope, then begins tying the rope to the hook. "Anybody else bring any climbing gear? This is all I brought with me, and if this is supposed to be where the Thorn was, we might have some climbing to do."

"I've got 50 feet of solid hemp rope in my pack. Looks down, trying to figure out how much rope we'll need.

I would have cast a burst heal after the kobold fight, so everyone heals 2 from that, and more if we got to sleep.

Ogren hustles up and pulls out another bundle of rope. "I've got about fifty feet of good spider silk rope! It's light but it's just as strong as hemp. Hopefully this should be enough." He says peering into the hole.

With the 2 points of healing Ogren is good for a bit, even if it's not another day.

Flint falls twenty feet, landing hard on the ground. Bristor, thinking that looked the fast route down, quickly joins him. Flint realises that the old line about "It's not the fall that hurts, its the landing" should be modified to include "and the pathfinder than lands on top of you". Still, it seems to have worked out for Bristor who doesn't look that badly hurt.

Calder shows the others how it is done, and soon the team is arranged again at the bottom of the pit, somewhat sore.

The fog remains thick at the bottom of the hole. Broken bedrock, hunks of wattle, and splintered lumber—all lightly dusted with sea salt—sink into the mud. The lurching profile of a bowed and broken structure stands here, its walls little more than rows of warped timbers, covered in withered vines, that converge at strange angles. The door on this side of the wall is missing from its frame.
